Good Saturday morning!
Here are a few glimpses of my Week.That.Was.
In a nod to all things Spring, two days before Easter I finally got around to switching out the dark table settings. See my Easter basket?
This would be prettier if I could have found the pink pistachios ... but who wants to deal with stained fingers. Remember?
I've not colored Easter eggs in years,
but asked myself, "What would happen if I drop a little food coloring in the Egglettes?"
Not quite what I had in mind ...
... but they still tasted good
Tom was feeling well enough to accompany me to church services.
... where I immediately regretted not having a solitary pastel in my closet.
Bible study 'girls' (minus 4)
... and yes, a necessary nap followed!
🌻
In other news ...
It's not the Ritz, but I love how K transformed the bathrooms.
Left to my own devices (ha!), I'd have probably just grabbed a roller and started painting.
Nope, he came in and sanded down every square inch of crumbly, peeling border and cheap paint. K is one Amazing Worker ... and even made time to sit down on the floor to 'baby talk' and played with the girls. Grace would have been happy to go home with him!

The color (I picked) is darker than I imagined, but it's a nice change -- and helps disguise my wrinkles.

When Lisa (Musings of a Middle-Age Mom), recently shared what's her favorite meal at Casual Pint my taste buds began to dance. Since I'm not willing to drive up to Hoover, however, I wanted to try and replicate their Pretzel-wurst.
"Bavarian-style 10 pretzel with sliced Conecuh smoked sausage, kielbasa, and craft beer marinated bratwurst. Served with housemade beer cheese, whole grain mustard and cheese cubes."
It went something like this --
Yes, we like our protein!
While there were no giant Bavarian pretzels to be found, I found a frozen variety and served it with something called 'Beer and Brat' mustard.
Yummy!
Stay tuned for more hits n' misses from my test kitchen!
Large, medium or small, I hope you enjoy a great weekend!
Hugs, Myra

I'm not even hungry, but that pretzel photo has me drooling!

DeleteThe pretzel meal looks delicious! We like our protein too. I like the bathroom color. The steaks look really good too. Hope you have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy! I hope yours was, too.
DeleteI'm so glad to hear that Tom is feeling better these days, and able to go to church with you AND grill such beautiful steaks to boot! Easter Sunday was so special at our small church. It feels so amazing to be welcomed in this place of worship.
ReplyDeleteBlessings for a great weekend and week ahead, Myra!
Yes! At the risk of sounding like a cliche, almost right away our little church felt (to me) like coming home.
DeleteI like your pistachio Easter basket and the unusual egglettes. I used to enjoy dying eggs, but now that I'm alone there's no reason to do it. All of my Easter decor is packed away.
ReplyDeleteThat photo of you and Tom is sweet. And I noticed you used your Easter china for the steaks.
That huge Bavarian pretzel with all the trimmings is EXACTLY my type of food!
Thanks so much! The chinaware isn't something I'd normally choose, but it always reminds me of my mother.
DeleteBoy. oh boy...those brats look so yummy...pardon my drool.
ReplyDeleteAt least you tried with the colored eggs and oh my again on that steak wowzers.
So happy your Hubby could join you for Easter service. Very special.
No one at our church graced us with a hat. I guess California is just too casual.
Wrestling with taxes so that's what we have to look forward to in the coming week.. Sigh ...
Sue
Ugh(!) on the taxes! I worked many years for a CPA and still have a bit of PTSD for it.
DeleteGlad Tom is better, and he must be, because grilling takes standing outside and bob can't handle that. if I were not so afraid of the propane I would do it.
ReplyDeleteI really like the color in the bathroom and it looks like a brand new bathroom remodel. I have a mirror on a swing out and love the idea of the mirror back and front. I could do that by putting a mirror on the door and I could see the back of me. great idea and I can do that myself.
the whole inside to my house was last painted when Bob retired 25 years ago. ov vey!
I was about to ask how many had on hats and I see 4 in the photo and I also see 3 Maxie dresses. even the TV talking heads are wear Maxies. I own no pastel but the new night gown.
I've never tried to grill anything outside! That mirror (opposite the sink) came from a thrift shop in Arizona and weighs a TON. So afraid one of these days it's going to fall off the hook and shatter.
DeleteWell I get your colored those eggs rainbow style. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love the bible study gals.
Your bathroom is pretty.
And the pretzel sure looked very good too!
Thank you, Sandie!
DeleteThat pretzel is the most German thing I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen eggs done like that. Do you cook them in those little bowls?
Yes! They're made of silicone and after 17 minutes boiling, the eggs just pop out -- easy peasy. (Egglettes on Amazon)
DeleteI enjoyed it all! Love your hat! No need for pastels when you have an "Easter Bonnet" to wear! I sing in the choir, so no hats for me! I wish I could wear them, but I just never have figured out how to do it without feeling too conspicuous. That's a me thing. But I love hats... and your group of Bible study ladies look like a wonderful bunch of ladies. What a blessing to have them! Your Easter dinner looks good and so does your sausage pretzel thing sound interesting enough to eat! I love your new bathroom paint! Looks great to me! I enjoyed your post so much. Always fun to visit here!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! I love hats-- but over the years I've had to search high and low for just the right shape and size ... otherwise I look like a walking giant nose. (lol)
DeleteOh, how I love those big pretzels!! That looks SO good!! I love your Easter hat and am so jealous. I can't wear a hat. Glad Tom felt good and went with you to church. Those steaks look delicious! I love my protein too!! xo
ReplyDeleteNow I'm wondering what else I can do with the left-over pretzels to jazz them up.
DeleteSuch good news that Tom is well again and able to go to church with you. Praise the Lord. Good reason to celebrate with steak, pretzel and coloured eggs. You forgot the beer, or is it wine. I prefer beer.
ReplyDeleteKeep smiling and keep well both of you. God bless.
Thank you, Victor! I never developed a taste for beer, but sure enjoy my Cabernet.
DeleteHappy Easter ! I had Prime Rib at my nieces house for Easter. I loved the colored eggs. Very easy and quick to do too! I didn't see any Easter bonnets at my church this year and was surprised. I was very tempted to get one. I miss the days when we all wore one to church all the time. I love hats! Hope all congtinues to go well for Tom and you get more good steaks! I love German foods. Brats and sauerkraut are right up there in my books. We don''t have another holiday now till Memorial Day, and I'm looking forward to it! But then there is always something to celebrate every day of the year! Love, ma
ReplyDeletePrime rib ... nice! I don't know where in Texas you're living, but I've enjoyed some of the best German food and sausages in New Bransfels.
DeleteI hate ot admit ignorance, but much of the graphics were new to me. That is good, we all should learn something new. We did enjoy all the photos. WE are home but home ain't what it should be ;-( we wo;; attend the funeral of one of Sherry"s class mates tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteLove from NC but me thinks we were somewhere else (I have that problem!!!!!)
Remember when Rick used to say, "Every day is a school day!"? Love y'all!
DeleteThat pretzel dish looks and sounds like a winner! I'm glad you're experimenting with new recipes and sharing the results with us. ❤️
ReplyDeleteWell, some days are better than others! 😉
DeleteEnjoyed this post. Everything looks good. Had a long comment that disappeared.
ReplyDeleteI hate when that happens! (Thank you for coming back and trying again.)
