Welcome back to Wednesday's Hodgepodge ...
and as always, thank you, Joyce!
What's a change you'd like or need to make this year?
With a mind to car payments + having more 'play money' I'm 'toying' with the idea of finding a part-time job.
I dunno; perhaps I'm just bored.
Break the ice, on thin ice, ice skating, tip of the iceberg, ice cold ... which 'icy' idiom applies to your life right now?
Considering Tom's on-again, off-again health challenges
I'm going with 'on thin ice.'
What's a project you've been putting off? Will you get to it this month? This year?
I'd love to hire some muscle to gut the spare bedroom/office --
and make a little sitting area where the rickety day bed and bookcases live.
Even if only the wall hangings get replaced, it should make a difference.
Of the fruits that grow well in winter, which ones have you tried? Which is your favorite?
The only ones I actually eat on purpose are grapefruit and lemons.

Does anyone actually just eat a lemon? I mean, I love them in water and I love lemon-flavored things. I was just thinking how absurd it would be, even though I'd straight eat a grapefruit right now.
ReplyDeleteGood question! 🤣
DeleteI love cuties, which are clementines and grapefruit, pears I love but can't eat now. I eat mangos, strawberries, blueberrys, raspberries, blackberries every day. all of them are frozen, those are the fruits that are good for IBS. our grapefruit tree died, there were pink ones and so delish. I eat lemons and love all things lemon but please don't put it on my chicken. ha ha
ReplyDeleteabout the job hunt, remember the cemetery. thats all
I know, right? "Remember the Alamo!"
DeleteWhen I was still living at home in the 60s-70s there were Kumquat trees growing in our 1 acre lot. This was in Titusville, Florida. They make excellent jam or jelly or can be eaten as is if ripe.
ReplyDeleteThe courage graphic reminds me of how I treat anything that is issued from the Government: you are wrong and you're evil. Get outta the way. Don't try to stop what God is doing for HE means it for good.
I like the pro-tip! I'll have to use that excuse next time I'm outta breath from a walk. lol
Blessings.
"Get outta the way!" ... indeed!
DeletePraying for Tom's good health and for you.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on your job search. I hope you find something you enjoy rather than treat it as a job.
To me, courage is daring to speak to the mother-in-law. I just don't like to interrupt her!
God bless always.
Hahaha! Thank you so much for the needed prayers; they're felt.
DeleteA part time job could be fun I think, if you find the right fit. I'm tempted sometimes too, but our schedules are so dependent on when our kids are free that I feel like I'd regret working. I do a lot of volunteering, but it's more flexible. I hope you are able to get your room redone, or at least a little face lift. Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joyce! Yes, the 'right fit' is critical.
DeleteEvery time you answer questions WE enjoy the answers. Funny I cannot think anymore when someone asks a question. But the fruity one I CAN answer, I have tired them all and my favs would be grapefruit and Pomegranate. I like the grapefruit with salt. Ate one from neighbors tree last night. Our fruit trees are duds. I can kill anything that grows. Now the Pomegranate, I love the best but they are harder to eat the fruit.
ReplyDeletedidn't mean to be long winded...
Stay warm and yep 'thin ice'.
My mother used to squeeze grapefruit and freeze in ice-cube trays. So refreshing with ice water in the summer months!
DeleteI'll certainly keep Tom and you in my prayers, Myra.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you both!
Thank you so much, Martha!
DeleteHeck, I've been living on thin ice most of my life.
ReplyDeleteKumkwats are a small citrus fruit. There's an old 1934 W.C.Fields comedy.movie where an annoying blind man is ordering kumkwats in a store. The scene is hilarious - but it would probably offend over-sensitive people nowadays.
There were a lot of persimmons trees when I was a kid in California and I loved eating them (the fruit - - not the tree).
Kumquats - - sorry for spelling it wrong!!
DeleteI'll have to see if that's not out on YouTube!
DeleteWell, I'm in no hurry; we gotta get Tom well first. Happy New Year blessings, Ma.
ReplyDeleteLove your quote, go get 'em girl ! I had a PT job after I retired. With the little paycheck I felt better about the money I spent on things I like to do. Hope Tom's health continually improves.
ReplyDeleteExactly! I'd feel guilty dipping into the savings 'just because.'
DeleteLove the pro-tip on hiking. Made me laugh out loud! Hope you get to do a remodel and refreshing on that room. I'm hoping to do a bit of that this year too.
ReplyDeleteMe, too! Every time I think about quitting FB, I see something like this that makes me LOL.
DeleteHope you can find a part-time job that is good for you. I am liking that pro tip!! Take care...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ellen!
DeleteI'm digging out our binoculars!! Brilliant!! Maybe we can both get our rooms redone this year. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteCrossing my fingers!
DeleteI love your courage poster! That's right on.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a good one!
DeleteThat's interesting about thinking about a part time job. It might be good for you. I understand the thin ice. Praying Tom has a year filled with good health. I don't know a few of those fruits either. That's a great quote on courage. Also enjoyed your random.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI LOVE your courage quote!!! My hubby is bored in retirement. He volunteers two half days but the rest of the time, he is going nuts!
ReplyDeleteI'm better now, but the first year after I retired I was like bouncing off the wall.
DeleteI love your courage quote and the meme about binoculars - what a great tip!! I started a part-time job in the summer to get me out of the house and avoid being bored and depressed. And now it's turned into a full time job and I'm doing my best to adjust! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat's great, Kym! Congrats!
DeleteI love the PRO-TIP!
