It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!
... not that I've gone to any extraordinary lengths this year.
For some reason, I'm content with a 'less is more' state of mind. Unless something changes, the collection of ornaments n' stuff will be spending the winter in hibernation.

As always, I'm glad Tom insisted on buying this 'plug and play' tree -- affording each of us a favorite point of view. While I love a white/golden glow, this is more to his liking.
I had to giggle at the sight of the girls' stuffed duck, looking for all the world like it imbibed too much eggnog.
In the kitchen?
Oh, I've been throwing random packages of protein and cheeses in the slow cooker.
Unfortunately, one of my Bible study friends unexpectedly lost her hubby, so the Meal Train's begun rolling again.
Owing to tradition, I made up my mother's 'famous' banana nut bread. Unlike last year, this year's batch is darn delicious. And moist! I'm suspecting it was the extra buttermilk.
Must admit, however, I narrowly escaped making another 'Oops' memory.
Not being an accomplished baker, before starting I always double-check my ingredients and lay out utensils in much the manner a surgeon might do.
Except the baking soda. I mean, whoever thinks about baking soda? Come'on, that's like a fixture in the refrigerator, right?
Evidently not. I had to boot-scoot over to Dollar General for an emergency box.
'Must perform a taste test! (Or more like, several)
Sorry, but I've always of the mindset that raw dough is always better than the baked version.

Not naming names, but this pop-up has suddenly begun appearing when I click on some (4) of your blogs.
..... At least when I go to read on my desktop. Doesn't happen on the cell. Since Tom and I are basically clueless when it comes to these sorts of things, we're waiting 'til his son arrives next week and ask him to take a look. Tommy's employed in cyber security for the military, so there's a comfort level.

Not only to bonus son and Tom's sister's arrival next Thursday -- but tomorrow we celebrate my son and grand-girl's birthdays at the Japanese Steak House.
I hope to yak all about that on Monday!

DeleteI like both versions of the tree lights -- - but I'm partial to the colored lights. The banana nut bread looks great - - baked or unbaked, with or without baking soda.
ReplyDeleteOnce, I was making burritos and accidentally put in cinnamon instead of chili powder. It tasted like East Indian burritos *smile*
That dangerous web page warning looks scary, but I'm thinking it's bogus.

DeleteYes, I've forgotten the baking powder often enough. The cooked product is then crumbles and given to the birds.

Would you believe, that's the same tree. The tiny LED bulbs change themselves every 3 seconds, tho' it would be nice to freeze one or the other.

ReplyDeletei like the white lights best, and blue is my last choice, bob loves blue. he likes houses that have all blue on them, again least favorite but then there is nothing on the face of the earth we agree on other than food with sugar. ha ha

every church i ever went to, everyone sat in the same pew same place unles some whippersnapper came in and sat in it. once we had to sit on the opposite side of the church. I told the pastor i could not listen to him because i was looking at the wrong side of his profile... it felt ODD. we do that when we go to Golden Corral or any resturant, like Culvers. same table same seat if its availabe.
Good idea! I'll let you know what he says. That's funny about looking at your pastor's wrong profile! I've sat in the same pew for years now ... and will never forget the way I felt when, one day a few years ago, I walked in to see strangers sitting there.
DeleteThat meme is hysterical, Myra, because in many cases, it rings true! We are creatures of habit, that's for sure. I must admit, I like the tree with both settings. DeleteAren't we the proprietary ones? (*grin*) I used to feel that way at my workplace when someone was parked in 'my' spot. (Of course, there was no assigned parking!)
I've seen that notice on a blog or two before also, but can't remember now whose. I think it corrected itself. If it is mine, let me know. Interesting and beautiful tree! I myself prefer the white lights. They are more calming to me or something. Oh, I love the meme about the Greens. Yes, that is an issue in every church, it seems. I sit in the choir loft, and no one dares to take my seat there! LOL. We had a funny incident about sitting in someone's pew one time. I may have to write about it because the story is too long to tell here. So one of these days I will share it. I believe we should have to play "fruit-basket turnover" every month so people have to get up and move. We might get to know more people that way! DeleteOur Christmas tree has three settings-white lights, colored lights, and fading back and forth lights. Neither Hubby or I are a fan of the last option, and whoever turns it on gets to decide which is the statement of the evening.

DeleteI was told mine was giving some problems and I did some research and I found that in blogger settings there is a button to click that changes your address from http to https which supposed is a security thing. I changed mine to the https and as far as I know it's working correctly now. It was an easy fix after I found out what to do.

I love your tree. Hubby loves the colored lights best. I think next year I'm going to add colored lights to our new one.

Darn! I got the same warning when I visited your post a little while ago -- but I'm such a rebel; I've been hitting the 'accept risk and continue' and haven't imploded yet. Pretty sure the fault lies in my Norton virus settings and not your computer.
DeleteI'm really enjoying my tree this year it is new to me. One of my sons gave it to me. It really puts on a light show and has a controller with which You can change the lights to flashing and twirling, backwards and forwards. I haven't put any photos of it in my blog due to the fact that I can no longer add new photos. I do love banana bread, but my recipe doesn't call for buttermilk. Now I'm thinking I should try it. ReplyDeleteThat's such a thoughtful gift! I don't add too much buttermilk -- the recipe calls for 1/2 a cup, but I threw in another splash 'just because.'
