Instinctively, I thought of Johnny Mathis ... Nat King Cole. But no. I'm going with Amazing Grace.
Do you consider yourself a trusting person?
Not especially, no.
June 14 is National New Mexico Day. Have you ever been to New Mexico (The Land of Enchantment)? Any desire to visit the state? Some of the top-rated tourist attractions there are Carlsbad Caverns National Park, White Sands National Park, The Albuquereque International Balloon Festival, Bandelier National Monument, The Georgia O'Keefe Museum, Santa Fe Plaza and the Petroglyph National Monument. Of the attractions listed, which would be tops on your list?
Ha, ha ... I grew up there! (in Los Alamos)
While I've been to all of these attractions, I think Bandelier and Santa Fe reflect the most natural beauty.

How I used to scurry up and down these ladders ... disappointed at my grandmother's reluctance to join us.
Sadly, my own 'scurring' days are over.
Nope, I'll opt for real Mexican food, enjoyed in the City Different (aka, Santa Fe).
What's something you've found enchanting recently?
Wow. Given our country's current state of affairs, 'enchanting' isn't something that readily comes to mind.
Maybe? ... Yes!
I found the recent PBS Special "Magic Moments - The Best of 50's Pop" really enjoyable. Enchanting! I even watched it again the next night!
Was I born in the wrong decade? Hmmm.

Are there any other members of the NextDoor community out there? I get updates in my e-mail but rarely pay them much mind.
Then this 3 days ago:
"Y'all may want to check your account preferences. I just checked mine and Nextdoor had changed my gender to 'other' and my pronouncs to 'them/they.' I changed them back to the proper settings." I'm over here like, "How dare they?"
Oh man, you should see the avalanch of responses -- both pro and con. I just wish they'd quit pushing their agendas on the rest of us. Nextdoor and I will probably part company -- but I just wanted to put this out here, not as a talking point but a head's up.

ReplyDeleteI have only seen New Mexico through the eyes of 3 bloggers over the years. One was a donkey farm and I wanted to go there to see all of NM and visit the donkeys.
about next door, see my answer about trust. no can do, everything on there is supposed to be your neighbor but evil people live in every neighborhood. i have no desire to be in contact with the neighbors and also read negative stuff about using the app on of the TRUSTWORTHY net. ha ha
Just as I am is a great choice ... I've not heard that in years. Now I'm wondering where there's a donkey farm and how come I never heard of it!

Given how hot most of our country is, I'm suddenly longing for cooler days here. I can't believe I said that. We are going to be an unheard of 95 degrees today. Not our usual weather. Try to stay cool there and drink plenty of fluids. Hopefully we can all enjoy the summer. Love, ma

DeleteOh how funny about NextDoor changing gender preferences. I'll have to see if they did that here. I wonder if it is because it is Pride Month? But still!!!! I do like that app just to keep track with what is going on in the neighborhood. I believe it was you who directed me towards it too :) New Mexico truly is the Land of Enchantment. There is a beauty there (and some interesting people). I agree with you about Amazing Grace as a love song. Such amazing grace we have, don't we?

DeleteI've never been to NM. I wish I could see it and some other parts of the SW. I guess I will just see it through pictures. I'm glad my grandson spent some time there this past year. I've never heard of the "next door" site. I don't think I'd trust anything like that anyway, and now especially not! Oh, yes, Amazing Grace is definitely a beautiful love song. I never thought about it before like that, but now that you've said it, I most definitely believe it! Thank you for that lovely thought to carry me through this day!

DeleteThanks for the heads up on NextDoor. I joined in 2020 when we moved into our condo. I'm confident they didn't ask me what my preferred pronoun was back then. I'm guessing they added the feature at a later time and defaulted it to the most generic option. Mine is correct now :-)

ReplyDeleteI'd hardly even heard of NextDoor but honestly I think the debate this sort of thing stirs up is worse than the actual issue. I mean, I'm somewhat supportive of gender diversity but then again the radical left is taking it way too far. I think indeed NextDoor meant to be inclusive but to change everyone's pronouns to they/them and everyone's gender to "other", is a bit odd. They could just have notified everyone that they were including gender neutral pronouns now.

Amazing Grace is a good choice for a love song - the purity of spiritual love.....
Me, too ... back before the Hollywood elite discovered it's unique beauty. (And my parents thought the hippies were bad, lol!)
