Random rumblings

Hey there,

... g'evening!  I've been feeling a bit like that flat squirrel out on Chapman Road, but wanted to come visit with my besties.  I think the stress of the last couple weeks is taking its toll -- I'm achy all over and just want my momma.  Ha (not ha).  Can anyone else relate?

So!  I got a call Sunday morning (that) Tom would be released.  An emergency flat tire fix and hour-long stopage on I-65 tried, but couldn't contain our excitement.  He was given this whizz-bang heart monitor to wear for 30 days while they decide if he's going to require a pacemaker.

I'm so thankful for Dr. Ahmed (aka, McDreamy) and his team!  Even when Tom was behaving badly he never lost his cool.  I can see why people come from as far away as Canada to be seen.  I can't help but think what a different outcome my sweet father might have had back in '81, had he the opportunity to be seen at UAB.

Yesterday would have been his 110th birthday ... how I miss him still!

Moving right along ...

I'm pondering a major redo of my office/spare bedroom.  It's packed to the gills with 'stuff' I've no particular attachment to; the wall art definitely needs put aside.

After all, if this is my 'happy place', should I be surrounded by images that actually make me happy?

Nope, I've no idea what the result will be ... or when.  I'm just confident I'll know it when I see it.  Probably at an estate sale, lol.

Reading?

Sorry to say, but I'm still struggling ... staring at the same page over and over (and over).  Lately I'm thinking about signing up with Audible.  Tom keeps his bluetooth hearing aids tuned to the TV anyway, so it's not like I'm ignoring him.

Has anyone else used/using that subscription service?  It seems to have a better selection than Kindle ... but what do I know?

Before I go ...

Let's see how to put this without controvery or offense.

Someones of y'all may be familiar with the case of former Montgomery Police Officer Cody Smith.

IMHO -- and that of several church friends -- he was tried and found (unjustly) guilty of murder back in 2016.

Recently, when the Alabama Supreme Court failed to reach a decision on his appeal, he was taken back to prison.

His wife has begun a blog.  Honestly, I'm in awe of Cody's attitude and efforts to spread the word of Christ from behind bars.

Love y'all .... thanks for listening!

  1. My goodness! I read some articles about Cody Smith as I wasn't familiar with the case and then checked out the blog. He is so young looking! And that sentence. I'll be reading along the blog.

Glad to hear that Tom was able to be released. Is he adjusting to wearing the monitor? Oh no with the flat tire! I hope AAA changed it?

You are pretty clever so I bet you come up with something to spruce up your happy place :) I bet it comes to you when you least expect it.

I can't do audible books, they put me to sleep, lol. Hopefully someone else will be able to help you with that! I know our e-library does have them available too for checking out.

Take care of yourself!! Don't get yourself run down and then get sick!!

    betty

    1. Well, the monitor was acting out, so no. They're overnighting a replacement. Thankfully, I was able to get my car to Firestone before getting on the freeway then having to call AAA. It's always something!

  2. Hooray for getting your Dh back home, even though on weekends 65 becomes a parking lot.
You will figure out the office/spare room before too long,

  3. I am praying for your good health, and also in thanksgiving that Tom is better. Keep trusting in God my friend.

I like your office as it is; but I agree every so often we need to change things to cheer us up.

I have tried the audible type books once. I liked them because they don't answer back when I make a comment.

    God bless.

  4. I read an article in the past, and can't find it, that sand constant use of Facebook and other Social Media platforms, makes people lose the power to concentrate on books, you are number 4 blogger than i know, that has said they used to read books all the time but now find it difficult. all 4 of you are on FB a lot. I still prefer reading over any and all things and rarely go on FB.. not sure how much truth there is in it. My friends husband can't sleep. in that same article it said FB cause sleep loss, that your brain gets used to contantly reading short things and answering/commenting makes it difficult to sleep. he lives on FB and is on at 3 am all the time because he cant sleep.
Books make us use our imagaination and follow a line of thought and Social media makes us angry and keeps us stirred up.
I am in the same mode about my office/bedroom. took the top and drawer off the deskt that is peeling pasteboard and threw them in the garbage and now i must do something. the room looks exactly like it did when we moved in 33 years ago. you will know when you see it.

    1. That makes so much sense! I've come to realize, in general, if something's longer than a funny meme or photograph it's going to be skipped over.

  5. Sorry about that flat tire, how terrible for you. But such good news for Tom. They do know so much more than they used to. Modern medicine is awesome. I like to read so don't do audible. The only time I consider it is on a long drive. It does help to pass the time. I agree about the space in your happy place. It should reflect things that make you happy. That's what I did in my spare room. It's decorated in all things beauty. I don't have much on the walls yet, but I'm working on it. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead! Love, ma

  6. I'm glad that Tom was released. Yes it would have been interesting if your dad could have possibly been seen. My dad's pacemaker kept him alive for a long time. Good luck with your office.

  7. Yes, there are times I would love to have my dear mom to talk with or to just take care of me again. I miss her (and my dad). Praise God your sweetie was released! It's always better at home. Joe's mom had a pacemaker from in her 30s. She actually had to have two replaced over the years and she lived into her 80s. The pacemaker didn't fail her (an aneurysm broke). I am going to check out Ashley's blog right now. xo

  8. Myra, we are finally home from all our adventures, and I'm going to plunge back into blogging this coming Tuesday. I really have missed visiting here, and I'm so sorry to hear that Tom is still struggling, but as Danny has a pacemaker, I can certainly identify with what Tom and you are going through. Prayers all around, my friend! I will check out your friend's blog for sure.
    Blessings!

  9. I've been a member of audible for years. It's a blessing for me... I've had chronic eyestrain all my life so can't read print for very long at a time. Take it easy and pamper yourself. ❤️
