So, a couple years ago I posted something to the effect ....
"Wouldn't it be a kick if ABC's The Bachelor gave equal time to seniors?" No-one under 65 need apply.

Well, guess what?
".....the casting notice on ABC's website goes into more details about the proposed show: 'Now casting seniors looking for love! Are you entering your golden years and looking for romance? The producers of The Bachelor are looking for active and outgoing single men and women IN THEIR GOLDEN YEARS for a new exciting dating show!'"
I'm not especially 'active and outgoing' ..... but were I not already married? Heck, yes!
I suspect this is going to be a hit.

DeleteI wonder how long it will be before they make a UK version of the Bachelors. Here we have "First Dates" where people meet in a restaurant - all ages. Including seniors. All looking for romance.

Interesting! It sounds a bit like the old game show, "The Dating Game."
DeleteYes it is. People apply to the restaurant. They match people according to what they have said in the application about themselves and their location. Pointless matching someone from London to someone in Edinburgh. People have never met until they're at their table. We see/hear them order their meal and chat. At the end, they are asked if they'd like to meet each other again. Some say yes - others definitely agree they are not a match. Must be really embarrassing to be told on TV that the other person does not want to see you ever again.

Thanks for the giggles!! To answer your question about seniors finding love in their golden years... our community here is full of them!! Friends, Judy and Tim, are 77 and 82 and married a couple of years ago. Why not?!!

DeleteWow, I bet they ought to just go to The Villages here in central Florida to find all their contestants...that place is full of seniors looking for love. Should be a real hoot. Love the memes. Yes, we need a good laugh now and then. I am very thankful to still have my sweet lover for almost 52 years. No need to look elsewhere and I pray I never will need to or want to.

DeleteCute concept for the show! I bet it will be a big hit! I truly understand the meme about finally getting warm and then "nature" calls. A lady I'm in an email group for prayer got married in 2019 at the age of 74; her 3rd marriage (both previous husbands died). Her spouse was 86 years old. He died a few months later but she calls him the love of her life so I guess it is possible to fall in love no matter what age :)

I have two friends here that were married at age 65 and 75, just thought of a friend at the Y pool, she was 80 when they moved in together and another friend that they are together but live in different condos and in their 80's. i can't stand the batchelor or batchleret so would not watch this either. it will be a hit though

DeleteLOL great entry. Sherry read this to me a I looked over her shoulder yesterday. I did one of the senior things. I went in to warm my coffee and started adding things to the 'Johnny Board' and forgot all about this computer. WE laughed like crazy at the 'Dress for the 70's'. Yep I know a couple of seniors who are VERY happy and have discovered love in their 70-80s.

DeleteJust this morning I received a phone call inviting hubby and me to a tiny wedding of our 74 year old friend! Another friend introduced our friend to someone at another church during the pandemic. They met, fell in love, and are getting married on February 21! Both bride and groom had spouses that died a few years ago. Love in the Golden years!

ReplyDeleteI'm not exactly ancient, but at this point in my life I'm perfectly content NOT to be in a relationship. They're too mentally and physically exhausting.
But I'm all for finding love in the golden years. It's never too late.
This reminds me of something my mother said when a friend suggested she consider finding a man: "The last thing I need is some old man I'd have to take care of!"
