Today, I'm --
Dreaming about ...
the air fryer Emeril's been raving about. That never crossed my radar until the other morning I sat sipping my coffee and became mesmerized by his infomercial. (Quarantine brain!)
Tom's going to say we've no place to put it (true), but I like the idea of not having to turn on the oven this summer.
Tom's going to say we've no place to put it (true), but I like the idea of not having to turn on the oven this summer.
Speaking of cooking! ...
I wanted to show you my new favorite lunch.
4 (fully cooked) sausage patties zapped in the microwave -- top with guacamole salsa + 2 over-easy, cheddar-y eggs.
Tom's quite given up asking me if I'm not growing tired with eating the same thing 9 days in a row! Nope!
Feeling thankful ...
for Dollar Tree, allowing me to decorate for so little $.
We don't often use the dining room, but I enjoy staging my trifle bowl according to the holidays.
(What, Linda? You didn't really expect me to make a trifle, did you? LOL.)
Yikes! ...
Is anyone else seeing all those 'sponsored' Facebook posts for Keto meal plans?
Since learning my DIL has lost more than 30 pounds doing Keto, I decided to take 'their' little quiz:
Height ... weight ... activity level. Checked off the foods I don't/won't eat, ya-da-dah.
BMI: 23, okay.
THEN!
Actual age: 70 … Metabolic age: 77 (Whaaaa?!?)
Plus, 'they' had the audacity to suggest I may be 'highly stressed.' Folks, if I were any less stressed I'd be comatose.
Looking forward ...
to getting my hair cut on Wednesday!
Suppose she's going to notice I've been playing with scissors?
Idle thought ...
Does anyone else remember their parents sending them over to play with the neighbor kid who'd contracted chicken pox (or the mumps) so you, too, could get it over with? Jus' saying.....
Good times.
Have a super Sunday! Stay safe!

Yes I do remember that about chickenpox lol. I like your lunch. So yummy! Lol about that Keto test. I haven't seen it on Facebook yet. I bet a lot of hairdressers are seeing some interesting cuts coming in. Great Clips here at some locations has greater than a 2 hour wait for a haircut! We got an air fryer and an instant pot. Only used the air fryer once and never the instant pot lol but might do so more this summer.
ReplyDeleteBetty
WOW on that 2-hr. wait for Great Clips. I'm fortunate my hair guru owns her own LITTLE shop just down the road. I finally got over my fear of the instaPot; but honestly, I'm not that impressed.
DeleteYep to the chicken pox and measles parties! I would enjoy your breakfast with you! Dollar Tree has great decorations and I love that they are inexpensive so I don't feel bad about swapping them out. I have been dreaming about the Ninja air-fryer foodi combo: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SCGY2H6/?coliid=I2USHU0Z6L1MHL&colid=354Q7KBYWYXUL&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
ReplyDeleteThanks for this link, Terri; I'll check it out! Have a great day!
DeleteI keep hearing the air fryer stuff from Lisa, she loves hers. I must find out what it really is, I do not know since I do not watch TV.
ReplyDeleteNo to the chickenpox thing (that I know of! LOL). If the instant pot is the pressure cooker, that is my pot. But lately I have been using the slow cooker. I cook about once a week and it lasts two days. ;-)
You ladies do enjoy the hair dressers. Sherry is fortunate, her grand daughter Sherece is her DO-ER.
I enjoyed the visit and definitely like the looks and sound of that lunch. GooD STUFF!
Stay safe and enjoy the hair do...
Sherry & jack
Sherry's what we used to call a 'lucky duck'! I'm using my instaPot/pressure cooker to prepare creamed spinach and the like, but prefer the slow cooker for roasts.
DeleteI do remember hoping that my kids would get chicken pox at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI am with you - I can't wait to get my haircut - she is a private gal - and is going to take us back slowly - not until July - I will look like a woolly mammoth.
I bought and returned my air fryer - I couldn't get it to work right for me.
I love guacamole on toast for breakfast.
Lastly did your hubs go to the keto diet - would you send me the facebook address? I need to do something.
Thanks.
sandie
I don't see it right off -- but don't recommend going there. It's one of those things where you get to the end and they want $$$ to send meal plans. I'd just Google 'keto' and choose that which sounds best for YOU.
Deletelove your lunch concoction. sounds yummy, indeed. i find something i love and stick with it too. had chicken wings for one month straight. hubby here stopped asking if i was sick of them yet? stay safe.
ReplyDeleteSoul sista! xoxox
DeleteI have wondered about the air-fryers. If you get one let us know if they work OK and would be used frequently as opposed to the microwave. At $200 it's more expensive than a microwave oven. Over here microwaves cost under £100 ($121).
ReplyDeleteWhen I worked in London we had a group session stress test. They gave us a questionnaire to complete anonymously yet very honestly. They said it was for our own good to help us identify if we were stressed or not. When they collected the questionnaires, the psychologist running the session read out the first sentence in each Q so we could identify ourselves anonymously; then he explained that individual's score and how stressed they were from what was said, (anonymously of course).
When he came to my Q, he hesitated a bit and then said, "Either this person is lying or he is dead". I had scored so low on each question that apparently it is not possible that someone could not be stressed at all on anything. To be honest, it's because I did not care about the whole exercise; but I did answer the questions honestly.
God bless.
Great story! I think these 'mind masters' are pre-conditioned with standardized answers and you threw him for a loop. Not sure I'll go forward with the air fryer; lots to think about and research -- not to mention, finding a place to PUT it. (*smile*)
DeleteYes! I played with my cousin who had the mumps. i never actually got it, but I'm sure it helped my immunity system. And I'm so jealous about the haircut, Myra. We are locked down here until June, or whenever Danny feels it's safe enough for us to get out. You should see my roots!!! Wait a minute . . . Maybe, not.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
LOL! I'd be lying if I didn't admit to being nervous. But hers is a tiny 3-girl shop; the only time I've ever been there, she's the only one working.
Deletei remember other people saying they were going to send the kids over, but mine never did and the sad thing is i can't remember if i ever had chicken pox, my brother emailed and asked if he did because his doctor asked him.. nope, don't remember that either. he did have the mumps and i did not.. we did get the polio vaccine buy gun and sugar cubes...each year we went to fire dept for shots and sugar cube.. FREE i might add.
ReplyDeletedid you go shop Dollar tree or already have the red, white and blue? is it July and i missed June? i have to look at computer each day to know what month and day it is. I close with. What is a trifle? what is a trifle bowl?
I remember lining up in the school gymnasium to get our sugar cubes in the wee paper cups. My pediatrician actually gave me my polio vaccine, in my hip.
DeleteAs I understand it, the trifle is an English dessert, with layers of pudding and pound cake and scads of whipped cream. My DIL makes the BEST using banana pudding and vanilla wafers.
Whattttttt (stammering)--NO TRIFLE??? WHATTTTTTTTTTT? (rofl)
ReplyDeleteI.HAVE.NOT.TOUCHED.THE.SCISSORS. Nor will I...according to the powers that be (rumor mill upstairs, our landlady) says the Beauty Shop will be open by the 29th. I said, OF WHEN? LOLOLOL
Yes, house arrest is setting in...I don't like it one bit. lol
What will power you have! Deep breaths, my friend. I pray that this, too, will pass and we might laugh about it … oh, in about 50 years.
DeleteDue to the Covid 19 outbreak, the King of Spain has been quarantined on his private jet. That means the reign in Spain will stay mainly on the plane.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
LOLOLOL!
DeleteI watch that informercial about Emerils pressure cooker and air fryer yesterday and decided, I must need one of those. The bacon cooked in one looked wonderful My SIL did the Keto diet for while and lost some wheight. It's seems to be one of the easier diets I've seen. He said his favorite snack was pork rinds. I know what you mean about being relaxed. I've been so slow that it's a wonder I'm making any progress at all these days
ReplyDeleteSince I struggle mightily with appetite/portion control, low-carb's the only thing that works for me. Yep on the pork rinds. I like to smear mine with Marie's bleu-cheese dressing or pimento cheese.
DeleteI haven't seen the infomercial but I think an air fryer sounds healthy. Yes please, I want some avocado toast, eggs, cheese and salsa! We had mashed avocado mixed with salsa on our salmon last night. It's a favorite of ours!! Keto is a lot of work but it does work. I prefer low carb because it is easier to do. Good for you on the haircut. I need one but I'm not ready to be that close to anyone. Need a pedicure too!
ReplyDeleteYour salmon dinner sounds amazing! I love avocado, too.
DeleteAir fryer is on my wish list, I did get an Insta Pot for Mother's Day, looking forward to using it.I would not want to see what the questionnaire would reveal about my age and condition, i might just take it to see. ha!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
Sue
I've not made that many things using the InstaPot, but I love using mine for veggies. I hope you'll share your food stories!
DeleteI love my air fryer. We had a small one and liked it so upgraded to the Ninja Foodi. It will bake, fry, broil, toast, and something else. I know it does 5 things. lol I'm jealous about your haircut. My dog is getting her hair done on Tuesday. No word on when our Gov. may allow hair salons to open. Sigh. Hope you've been enjoying a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the 'thumb's up' on your Ninja Foodi! I was looking online and both Wal-Mart and Amazon are sold out. Telling!
DeleteYour lunch looks delicious, minus the guacamole. I think I'd like it with mango salsa. And I'm like you, I can eat the same thing (when I really like it) and it doesn't bother me at all. If you get an air fryer, let me know what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteGood to know I'm not a lone ranger - lol! If and when, I'll definitely be sharing.
DeleteGood looking food! YUM! I have been exercising so I am trying to stay healthy. Plus my hips and knees need the extra love. We love our air fryer. I sent you a PM at email. Have a great week. HUGS
ReplyDeleteThanks, lady! I'm going over there now.
