I/we adore Mexican food, but tacos aren't my first choice. That honor goes to ooey-gooey enchiladas or a chimichanga. Super spicy, please! I don't dislike margaritas, but would prefer a glass of wine.
Yes, I've been to Mexico several times. 'Happy to have visited, but I've no interest in going back.

Several of us from Ladies Bible study gathered Monday morning --
not so much to 'study' but share confidences and concerns.
No-one wore a mask - yet each of us had one or two in her bag!
I hate that my son and DIL -- both considered 'essential' -- are out there, having to deal with less-than-optimal citizenry and neighborhoods.
Mother nature, everybody and their mother, mom jeans, like mother like daughter, soccer mom, mother hen, mother lode, necessity is the mother of invention, stay-at-home mom … pick one and tell us how it applies to your life right now.

Ironic choice, on account my mother's and my differences were greater than our similarities. The older I get, however, the more I've begun to adopt certain figures of speech or her physical gestures.
I can never be the kind of person she was, but her presence is never far from my thoughts. When I start to become stressed -- angry, even -- I ask myself, "What would momma do?"

A nice dinner AT Longhorn Steakhouse would be optimal, but did you know you can get meals to go? I learned that from our daughter and son-in-law. It's their favorite restaurant and they've gotten meals more than once during this whole mess.

DeleteVisiting today from the Hodgepodge :) How nice to get together outdoors with your bible study ladies. We have only been able to get together through Zoom so far. I think I have the same tree in my yard (the one with pink blooms). I don't know what it is called but it is pretty.

DeleteI only had a chimichanga once and that was in 1989 and i loved it. Bob doesn't like Mexican food and refuses to eat anything Mexican. He loves tacos, but the ones i make from the KIT i buy at Walmart. go figure. neither of us likes spicy anything so that works.
ReplyDeleteit is scary that your children are face to face this pandemic, prayers for their safety. I remember my mother every time i do anything, because she and i were total opposites and i say things like Mother would die if she heard this or saw this.. great idea to have the social distance get together outside. maybe i should suggest we do this at a local park. just to SEE each other since it has been 8 weeks this thursday since we had a meeting.
Sure WISH I disliked Mexican food! I wasn't sure how the al fresco meet and greet would go, but it felt really seeing everyone's faces. We're going to continue as long as the heat and humidity keeps at bay.

The last one I had was when I celebrated my birthday earlier in the year. So nice to see your May flowers. We are finally starting to see some here too. I've been enjoying my neighbors. It's been too cold here to plant any of my own. We have snow predicted for Friday. Veiy usually cold spring here. We are usually in the 60's this time of year. I'm a mom stay at home right now. The kids are shopping for me and delivering the groceries right to my door. I never thought IA was like my mother at all, but like you see some similarities now that I'm getting older. She was very judgmental and held a grudge for ever so I'm hoping I don't turn into my mother. Hope you have a Happy Mother's Day there at your house. I figure it will be different than most, but then what isn't?

DeleteDanny makes great tacos, and we usually have them every other week or so. Salsa? Even the mild ones make my nose run, so nothing spicy for this girl! I do love the photos of your flowers, Myra - beautiful! Hope we can all get back to doing "normal" things sooner than later.

DeleteYep I love enchiladas too! I think it is hit or miss with gloves but I do carry them with me. Sanitizer in the car is perfect. I will keep you son & DIL in my prayers. The flowers are beautiful and AMEN!

DeleteThe only place I venture to these days is to the grocery store (Every two weeks during the 7AM Old Fart Hour) and to medical stuff, and you betcha I wear a mask! I think those who don't wear them are being very inconsiderate. My favorite cashier at the grocery store has a serious auto-immune disease, and for people to yak at her without wearing a mask is putting her health at risk. Just about everything has reopened here in GA, but they'll have to muddle through without my patronage. I don't understand rushing out to get an "essential" tattoo... or even an "essential" haircut. I cut my own hair, and I've learned one thing. I'm as bad at it now as I was the first time I whacked off my hair when I was four. :)

LOL on the 'selfie'! I tried trimming my own bangs last week; while it wasn't a disaster, I've a whole new appreciation for my stylist. Prayers lifted for your fav cashier, out there putting her own health on the line every day!
DeleteRestaurants are opening in our state for outdoor dining, and I suppose indoor with distancing will soon follow. I appreciate taking baby steps. I live very close to the GA border and could go there to get a haircut, a tattoo!! and eat in a restaurant but can do none of those things here. The only one I'm really interested in is getting my hair done, but still no word on that in our state yet. Stay well!

DeleteNo tacos or margaritas yesterday, though I really like them. A few things started to reopen in the neighborhood, including my favorite bakery. What a thrill it was to see they were open while I was out on my walk. Also noticed a nearby Dunkin Donuts open. It's going to be slow here, but so happy that things are a little better.

DeleteLooked like a fun time with your Bible study ladies! I bet it was much needed!! Can you imagine that a taco fast food place ran out of tacos last night? They ran out of the shells so I had to get a burrito instead. Two other places we called for take out the lines were constantly busy. That's great that they did business for Cinco de Mayo!

Psychologically, yes. It felt great to socialize al fresco! Wow on that rush for Mexican fare. Still, I'd rather dine at your son's restaurant. Maybe someday.

ReplyDeleteCinco de Mayo was always a big deal when I lived in Calif. and Texas - - but this year I didn't even think about it. I'm really craving Mexican food. Perhaps I'll make burritos tomorrow (but enchiladas sound even better).
My Mom and I shared MANY similar traits. Unfortunately I also inherited some of my father's rotten ones...
