Ugh … I seriously loathed that piano.
So there a more than a few conspicuous gaps between these photos. Save yearbooks, records of my teen years perished in a flooded garage. Even then, my friends and I never once considered recording Every.Single.Minute of our lives. Crazy to consider in this age, isn't it?

Toasting the new year. Sadly, none of us would have suspected this was my father's last Christmas.

My dad had been gone only a couple of weeks, but mother put aside her grief to be sure Troy had a nice Christmas.
A year later, smiles came a little more easily. Wasn't she lovely?
Heart-dog Caraleigh. Tom later commented about her red sweater, "She looks like a tamale with eyes."

It doesn't hang from a tree branch … but this book is my favorite ornament. The inscription inside reads, "Good wishes to Evelyn from your SS Teacher, Mrs. Jensen, 1926."

What lovely Christmas memories you have. I could only wish I had that many pictures of Christmas past...when I was young. Jingle bells and I'm dreaming of a white Christmas are two songs that quickly come to mind, when identifying the first few notes. However, I love them all so it probably wouldn't take long for me to tell what most of them are. We wish you a merry Christmas, We wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

DeleteAbsolutely loved your nostalgic photos, Mevely! And as for a special ornament? I have a Mother and Child one that is my absolute favorite. When it comes to Christmas music, I'm not sure how well I would do in a Name that Tune setting. As I've gotten older, I so treasure peace and quiet, and rarely play any music, if you can believe it from one who actually loves it. Go figure!

I know just what you mean! For no particular reason, a few years ago I decided to create a 'cone of silence' in my car. At least that ensured two hours a day of peace and quiet. Merry Christmas!

I wanted lessons my whole life and we had no piano or money to pay for lessons. I think Jingle bells. My statue of Mary and the baby riding on a donkey with Joseph walking beside them is my favorite decoration, but it stays out year round. have never packed it away since my DIL gave it to me about 20 years ago. here is the link to the statue

I love the detail of your statue! What a thoughtful gift! Nope, my phone doesn't recognize me when I wave. Rather I just say, "Smile." Even so, she'd becoming hard of hearing, so it's a SHOUT. :)

As our parents got older, at Christmastime I would always ponder who would be with us for the next Christmas. Sadly in 5 years' time we lost my mom and both of hubby's parents. At least we keep memories alive, right?
Since I didn't put up any decorations this year, don't know if I have a favorite. I think the nativity scene would be it though as that is truly the main reason for the season.
For the Christmas song, I'm going with Jingle Bells as being the one I could identify in a few notes :)

DeleteI have a ceramic tractor, I bought in Frankenmuth, MI many years ago. It is towing a trailer of kids and a tree methinks. It is in a box in Deltona and not on the dash of the coach. jack left all the Christmas stuff there. Dadgummit.

DeleteAt our HOA Christmas potluck yesterday, We Wish You A Merry Christmas was recognized in the first two notes (played on a kazoo!). That was pretty fast! My favorite decoration is probably the Santa wall hanging my BFF Elaine made for me a couple of years ago... then there is my collectible Nativity my mom gave me!
