Hello again .....
from my happy place!
I've not much going on; in fact, this weekend is shaping up to be a "stay-home-and-try-to-stay-cool" sort of affair. We'll be sure and watch tonight's 'A Capitol Fourth' performances on PBS; that never fails to stir. Perhaps I'll run to Publix for the fixings of a caprese salad supper ... or try my hand at making Gazpacho.
A little of this 'n that!
Little Grace is doing some better. You might not know it, given the "I hate you very much" look on her face when I try and administer her amoxicillin. In an effort to disguise the taste, this morning's cuppa was a mix of soft-boiled egg, "loose meat", creamy peanut butter and a few dry-roasted nuts ... sodium free. The next 10 days should be umm, interesting.

Could be just this time of year, but it made my heart happy to see all the little children proudly holding books, waiting to be check out.
I'm so glad that Grace is doing a little better. Giving medicines to dogs can be quite a task. Ours just licks it and spits it out again. To fool him I wrapped the pill in peanut butter. I had two lumps on a plate. One with the pill and one without. I thought I'd tempt him by picking one lump and eating it myself. Stupidly, I swallowed the lump with the pill in it.

DeleteIt's so hard when our furbabies are sick. If only they could understand!! Thoughtful quote from your last well-loved book. I read on my Kindle/Phone now. Not sure I could go back to a "real" book. I still love libraries, though!! Happy weekend and week ahead, Myra! xo

DeleteI pray that Gracie feels better soon. Seriously, dandelion soap and tomato?? Yes, it is nice to hear that kids are reading. Every time I see a library I am happy that they are still in business. That's a very interesting statement.

ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of nostalgia surrounding the library for me. As a child I spent so much time in ours and devouring all types of books. It seems I always had my nose in a book.
I really must get back into reading again. There is a stack of unread books sitting on my chair in my "office". I just can't seem to get motivated. I guess Old Age is Creeping up on me !!!

DeleteTheo of Golden is easily one of the best novels I've ever had the pleasure to read, Myra. And oh, how proud I was of my first library card, too! Luckily, we had a library within easy walking distance for us kids. It was such a peaceful haven, especially in the summer. Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

DeleteHappy 4th of July! I read most book on my Kindle. The last time I went to the library it was so they could set up my kindle so I could borrow books from the library and read on them on it. I used to go there all the time and do remember getting my first card too. Try to stay cool and enjoy the day ! Love, ma

I have had a library card since I was about 5 years old. we had mobile Book mobiles when I was growing up and stepping up into that bus lined with books was at the top of my eagerly waiting list.. we had a tote bag full when we got off..

DeleteGoing to the library was one of my favorite summer pastimes. We had to walk, so you could only check out as many books as you could carry! I'm glad Grace is a little better!!

DeleteI was right there with you with the 'rush' when I got my first library card. Reading was an escape for me-living in the country without friends to play with except on rare occasions. Praying Grace is completely healed and back to her sweet self soon. xo Diana
