Welcome back, friends!
Before starting this week's Hodgepodge, a big ole' THANKS to those who played the 'kidnap' game. Y'all gave me some good giggles!
... and of course, thanks to the Mistress of Hodgepodge herself, Joyce!
Let's do this!
*
What's something you enjoy now, that your younger self would never have appreciated?
Staying home.
What was peaceful about today?
Cloud gazing.
I don't remember any other place that rivals Alabama's summer skies.
My cell photos can't truly capture their vivid definition, the ever-evolving layers -- but that doesn't stop me from trying!
It's National Blueberry Day (July 8). Will you celebrate? You can have one of the following right now -- a slice of blueberry pie, a warm blueberry muffin or a stack of blueberry pancakes. Which do you choose?
Y'all know I'm not fond of fruit, but blueberries are the exception.
My fav way to enjoy them is the way my grandmother served -- plain berries in a bowl with real cream poured atop. We cousins loved watching the liquid turn purple!
Do you need a break? From what?
Television.
I'm probably in the minority but have no interest in FIFA World Cup or a certain celebrity wedding.
What has surprised you most about getting older?
Suddenly realizing, I can no longer assume what used to be my "go to" lounge position. Like this.
Insert your own random thought here.
This!!!
Thank you, Sandie (Chatty)
I hope each of you are having a Wonderful Wednesday!
Hugs, Myra

I don't think I've ever had blueberries with just cream poured over top, but I do love strawberries that way. I'm obsessed with the sky and clouds too : ) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joyce!
DeleteOhh! I agree! I would much rather stay home than go out and socialise.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sky!
I have been enjoying the World Cup and today I am quite sad that there is no football on. lol
My husband feels the same way!
DeleteLove staying home too! Also have zero interest in sports generally or the World Cup in particular…
ReplyDeleteDitto here!
DeleteI love your (and Sandie's) random thought. Staying at home with blueberries is good. We're fortunate to have blackcurrants in the garden and apples. So I spend time in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Your garden sounds like a lovely place!
DeleteI love staying home now too. Blueberries are supposed to be the best berries for you. I didn't watch the World Cup either. And of course, I love the meme.
ReplyDeleteI recently heard about blueberries health benefits being one of the best cancer fighters. Way to go, little ones!
DeleteCount me in, because I love staying home, too.
ReplyDeleteThere's no place like it!
DeleteOh yes to the ending thoughts from Chatty. That's me (most of the time) except when I'm whining about something HaHa.
ReplyDeleteI really love all fruits and a warm from the oven blueberry muffin is so good.
My Wrinkles are just too shocking to me. Where did they come from and why with such vengeance???
I would love a break from paying the bills that just seem to come back before I am ready.
Have a great day and I could never sit that way on the floor ... NOW ... I can't sit on the floor at all !
Sue
I'm right there with you on wrinkles. Where did they come from ALL of a SUDDEN? Uninvited!
DeleteOur Florida sky might rival your Alabama sky, but beauty is beauty! That last meme from Sandie is a good one. Sending a hug, Myra. xo
ReplyDeleteIndeed! 🤗
DeleteThe last meme struck a chord with me!
ReplyDeleteMe, too!
Delete“I don't remember any other place that rivals Alabama's summer skies.” ??? What about the skies in the Land of Enchantment? They are still breathtaking after being cleansed with rain. Not as often as 40-50 years ago, of course. I’m glad you get some good ones there. 😊❤️
ReplyDeleteThis is Jean, right? 💛
DeleteBack in the day I was probably too self-absorbed to pay attention.
I've always loved blueberries, especially the ones my father grew. They were the best I ever ate! And I think you did a great job capturing the clouds of the south in summer, Myra. They are just like that here in Georgia, too, and I so love seeing them. When I was little, one of my favorite games was to lay on my back outside and imagine what creatures or things those clouds reminded me of. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYes! Our imagination was the only ticket to ride!
DeleteOur skies in Florida are ever changing and so much fun to watch. We like to see all kinds of shapes in the clouds as we take rides. I love that meme at the end. Perfect! And I never could sit like that, but I did actually used to put my feet up and around the back of my neck when I was quite young and limber. Now I'm lucky if I can get them moving when I get out of bed. I cannot even get down on the floor anymore, and if I do, I can't get back up. It's sad. And I've been enjoying fresh blueberries from my very own bush all summer. I think they are about done, down to the last little hand full, which reminds me I need to go pick them this morning. Have a lovely day my friend in Alabama! That's really not that far away! Wish we could stretch our arms to reach each other for a hug. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI'm chuckling and nodding like a bobblehead. Hugs across the miles!
DeleteLove your random thought, because it is so true!
ReplyDeleteI love our clouds too! I look at them to see what shape they might look like.Last night I saw a shark's head in one of them
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!
DeleteI enjoyed your answers. My hubby likes frozen blueberries with milk poured over them
ReplyDeleteThere you go!
DeleteOh, I love that last meme. So true!!! And you reminded me that I LOVE my berries in milk and watching the milk turn colours. I haven't had them that way for a long time and I think I need to try it again!
ReplyDeleteMe, either. It's about time!
DeleteTo help Bob hydrate, I feed him fruit, he doesn't drink enough. Each morning I make a frozen blueberry and vanilla soy milk shake for me, and his I make with 2 %milk. we both love blueberries that way. I make mango/blueberry the same way, like ice cream with a spoon.
ReplyDeleteon the other side if you are over 70 do not climb on the 4th step of a ladder to pick blueberries, my brothers wife's, sister, fell backwards and fractured her T9 vertebrae
My legs have been so stiff my entire life, I could not do the W or do the Indian sit, now called yoga sit
That drink actually sounds delicious. Tom bought a bullet/blender last year.
DeleteI have never been able to do the W, even when I was a skinny minny. FIFA World Cup or the celebrity wedding, certainly not on my list of things to watch either. :-(
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I'm not a lone ranger, Mary. (*wink*)
DeleteI could care less about soccer and that wedding, who cares, lol. Wishing you a lovely day.
ReplyDelete🤗
DeleteYes, staying home and watching clouds are very nice. Yum on the blueberries. I know that I could use a break from TV but since I'm having health issues I can't do a lot more. Wow, that's some lounge position. I like your random thought.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debby!
DeleteYes, staying home. Here I am on a Saturday night and happily home enjoying "chatting" with my blog friends. My younger self would not have thought this was a good Saturday night, but I know it is.
ReplyDelete🤗💛
DeleteI love the meme at the end! I hope you are having a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lisa!
