Did anyone else watch the Super Bowl? Against my better instincts, I watched to the bitter end.
I thought this year's commercials were a 'tidge better than recent years, but nothing compared to the old blockbusters.
Have they changed, or have I?
If anyone's interested, you can watch the 2025 line-up on the web. (Apologies for my link not working.)
No surprise, Budweiser's Clydesdales were voted #1.
My laugh-out-loud moment was actually the WeatherTech girls. (Watch here)

Road trip, anyone?
Football games aside, these are my recent winners and losers.
Thumb's up?
Those heartwarming Publix spots! Two thumbs up.
The "He Gets Us" one, too.

On days an Ozempic or Jardiance commercial airs?
100% forecast I'll sing along, word for word.
I can't help it, y'all ... it makes my mouth happy.

Thumb's down?
Like Linda says, I'm keeping it real.
Tied for last place?
Tied for last place?
A certain insurance commercial featuring a "flightless bird" and Doug.
or,
The attractive young woman who, looking straight into the camera lens holds up a deodorant and confidently proclaims, "Not just my armpits stink."
(Ya, I practically spit out my coffee.)

For today?
Tom and I practically define the term "low-key" when it comes to Valentine's. Nevertheless, I think we're going to Olive Garden for lunch and call it a 'date.'
Oh, I do appreciate those with Hallmark hearts.
Oh, I do appreciate those with Hallmark hearts.
For instance, this sentiment found in my grandmother's old jewelry box.
Do you have a special celebration planned tonight?
If not ....
Don't forget! Come February 15, candy's 50% off and there's no wait at your favorite restaurant!
Hugs, Myra

I did not watch SuperBowl and said thank you to the person who invented DVR so bob could record it and give me 2 hours OFF of caregiver duty while he watched. he ff through commercials, but did ask if I wanted to watch half time, NOPE, don't like rap music. that said, he did call me to come watch something on TV yesterday, he does this often and it aggravates me, but when I watched it laughed my head off. it was the Weather tech girls you linked to here, A plus for laughter and fun. I have not seen any of the others .
ReplyDeleteno special plans, we don't do plans, but I did have two happy things happy on LUV Day..
'Suppose I kept watching, only to see if it would get better. (IMHO) that was the worst half-time show ever.
DeleteThe commercials do sound cute except the rude one with the "lady" and the deod. Anyway, I didn't watch the SuperBowl nor any other stick and ball related things. Just not our cup of tea. And speaking of that, neither is Valentine's Day. I'm not really a romantic person, I guess, because I told Steve from the get go in 1979 that I don't "do" this Hallmark event nor many others. I prefer spontaneous kindness. Just one of my (many) quirks.
ReplyDeleteHope y'alls date is fun and not crowded.
Blessings. ❤️
Once upon a time I suppose I was "in love with love." ("Falling for make-believe", as the song goes.)
DeleteI love your quirks and want to borrow your 'spontaneous kindness.'
I woke up to a vase of flowers sitting at my place at the table. What a great way to start the day! No one said anything about going out tonigh, so I figure we're staying in to avoid the crowds at the restaurants. Hope you have a Happy Valentines Day! Love, ma
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are a wonderful gesture! Happy Valentine's Day, Ma!
DeleteI didn't watch the SuperBowl - - I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to football. I don't know a touchdown from a hoedown. So who won? The Dodgers? (just jesting).
ReplyDeleteThe Olive Garden seems like a nice, uncomplicated V Day gift.
I have no plans at all. But I finally got my xrays today, but no results.....yet. Jon
I think a hoedown may have been far more entertaining!
DeleteWaiting to hear the results of your tests with fingers crossed.
You are a hoot and keep me laughing with each post. I did watch the super bowl..had to...our favorite East Texas friend, Patrick Mahomes was playing. Sad the Chiefs lost. I love the born to be wild ladies...reminds me of ME and my gal friends. Ooooo. I lOVE Olive Garden..hope you all enjoy this special date meal. And that vintage card..what a treasure to have. No plans here for this evening. We prefer avoiding the crowds and later enjoying a nice meal at a restaurant in the Frisco Area...Cheesecake Factory with Strawberry cheesecake. Enjoy this beautiful Valentines Day..hugs and more hugs
ReplyDeleteLike you, I prefer staying home to avoid the crowds, but was sure surprised when Tom floated the idea last night. Cheesecake Factory's my favorite, yet a 90-minute drive. Hugs!
DeleteThe Weather Tech gals are priceless! I've seen the commercial run since on Fox and I can't help but chuckle each time. And I do love the Jesus commercials so much. So grateful that He gets us, and so happy to see people celebrating His love.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Myra!
Amen! ... and thank you so much for saying so! Blessings to you and Danny!
DeleteNope didn’t watch the Super Bowl. I’m a longtime 49er fan. When the sport starting bending their knee and dishonoring our national anthem, I stopped watching. It broke my heart.
ReplyDeleteOur wedding anniversary is Sunday. That’s our day we don’t have to share with others. Anyway he ER germs followed my husband home. He’s now sick with a bad cough. Perhaps soup, ginger ale, cough drops and a brand new box of Kleenex is in order!
So far, I’m good. Time will tell. 😷
Happy Happy 💕❤️🌹
Debby
Good for you, sticking to you guns on the NFL. (I thought that nonsense was all over and done with, but just read something about a few Eagles players' noses out of joint about the League's threatened punishment.)
DeleteHappy Anniversary wishes and prayers for your hubby's speedy recovery.
Aw shucks, love the card of Grandma's!! We did not watch the game, but I did go to the one commercial you tied in to. that was something...
ReplyDeleteAnyway I took my valentine out to breakfast and she picked Pizza Hut for our Valentine's lunch. I did get her some gifts this year...
Love and hope you enjoy the whole day of the Valentine.
I love how you and Sherry love one another! Happy Valentine's Day ... how many years is it, now?
DeleteOh, are you funny! I laughed so hard about the deodorant comment. I did not watch the Super Bowl, but my daughter did and told me Lauren Dagle did a great job singing the National Anthem. I just finished making cookie dough I will cut out with my heart cutter and call it a day. Enjoy your date at Olive Garden! It sure beats eating cut out cookies and listening to the love songs of the 60-70's.
ReplyDeleteI dunno about that; this sentimental old heart loves the idea of homemade cookies and GOOD music.
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day to you and Tom.
ReplyDeleteI like that card from 1911.
Over here too, adverts on TV leave little to the imagination. Do we really need to be told these things in details?
God bless always.
Exactly! The teenager I once was would have been mortified.
DeleteI always take my Valentine early in the morning tea for breakfast in my pyjamas. Is she appreciative? No.
ReplyDeleteShe prefers it in a cup.
😁
DeleteI had early morning plans on the Monday after the Super Bowl, so we left our party shortly after half time. From my reading since then it doesn't sound like we missed much.
ReplyDeleteThat's right!
DeleteI missed the old commercials. I always thought they were entertaining. Only a few good ones this year. They changed, not you! Enjoy your lunch today. We were going to go out yesterday but I wasn't having a good day. However, we will be going out to dinner on Monday to celebrate Gabby's birthday today. 1911, that is amazing! That's true, candy will be on sale. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debby!
Deletethecontemplativecat here. I miss the old commercials. they were original, simple. One I remember is the NFL dinner where current and old players were there. Peyton Manning was the host, and things went wrong when the golden football fell off the cake and the players had fun with that one. You can find it on Youtube.
ReplyDeleteThank you for telling me about that one; I'm going to look for it!
DeleteI didn't watch the Super Bowl or see any of the commercials. I will try your link. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI hope it made you giggle!
DeleteHonestly, I did not watch the Superbowl. In fact, we don't really get sports here as we stream - Rick was thrilled being in the hospital on Sunday as they had it on their television! lol
ReplyDeleteNo plans but relaxing today.
Happy Valentine's Day.
Sandie
What an unexpected treat!
DeleteI feel kind of special because I actually do have a bloomin' groundhog in my back yard, so I had one for groundhog's day. He is my nemesis!
ReplyDeleteWe have had a lot of Valentine's Days together so now we stay at home. Our favorite celebration restaurants all have prix fixe menus on the big day anyway, and I am not a fan of those at all. I'd rather just throw something on the grill and eat in comfortable clothes.
Me, too. Nevertheless, one has to pick her battles.
DeleteValentines Day is overrated anyways, smiles. I can't stand those Jardiance commercials. I do like the new Weather Tech one with the old ladies driving. LOL--wishing you a lovely Saturday my friend.
ReplyDelete😀
DeleteWe don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day. Yesterday, we did pick up lunch for Cracker Barrel and enjoyed that. We didn't watch the Super Bowl at all. I hope you are having a great weekend.
ReplyDelete🤗
DeleteWell, we watched the Super Bowl and was bored with the whole thing. Such poor playing from a great team. Plodded through the commercials and think I fell asleep, because I don't remember many of them.
ReplyDeleteThe Half Time "Show" was horrible and such a poor excuse for entertainment. Dislike Rap with a passion anyhoo...
I really needed to be out with my Valentine yesterday after care-giving with my Alzheimer's friend Lynne. Its so sad..I needed new thoughts and smiles with Dave. All about Lynne is for another blog post in the future.
Love your Friday bits and pieces.
Sue
I/we really didn't care one way or the other who won ..... but that so-called performance has to be the worst half-time ever!
DeleteMyra, I responded to your comment on my blog about Squeeze Burgers. It was just easier than going into so much detail here.. (:0)
