Thanks, Joyce!
... and thanks to all y'all for making time to visit!
What's the best $5 gift to give someone?
Since I don't have an age ... gender ... or hobbies?
I'm going to the Dollar store and find a giant box of crayons. No rules, just an invitation to color their world!
Some of y'all might remember a certain Italian restaurant that covered their tables with white butcher block paper. The server would plop down a handful of Crayolas, and before you know it, old and young alike were playing.
What's your favorite way to relax/unwind during the busy holiday season?
Nestled in my recliner in front of the fireplace with a fur baby (or two) on my lap, something mindless on the television ... perhaps a glass of Cab to my right.
How do you feel about gingerbread? Love it or no thanks? Are gingerbread houses a part of your holiday tradition? If you said yes, how does that look? Do you like ginger flavor in other kinds of dishes?
I enjoy an occasional piece of gingerbread, but wouldn't want it regularly. Only once did I participate in a work-related 'house building' competition. Our team wasn't very good, and it wasn't long before I developed a huge aversion to that sticky white paste. Nope, one-and-done!
I can't recall having used ginger in any of my dishes, but I'd like to see what others share.
December 5 is National Blue Jeans Day... will you be celebrating? Do you have a favorite brand? A favorite pair? Do you have a hard time parting with a favorite pair of jeans? Blue jeans-joggers-leggings-yoga pants -- which one do you wear most often?
Sure, I'll probably oblige. Celebrating the weight loss that allows me to zip my Calvins without laying down on the bed with a pair of pliers (lol). My #1 favorites are FDJ jeggings -- a bit pricey, but so soft; they hug my body in all the 'right' places.
As we head into this holiday season what's your biggest priority or goal for the end of the year?
That's not something I've given much thought!
'Just trying to keep myself and Tom reasonably healthy and loved ones near.
People think they should be rewarded for losing 10 pounds.
You are normal -- you think you need a trophy because you accomplished something. You didn't have the discipline to stick with the task at hand."

I am a Bama fan and have always admired Nick. We heard him speak at an A-Club meeting when he first arrived in Tuscaloosa. His aims and goals were the same from the moment he arrived.
ReplyDeleteAs for ginger, I always have a knob or two in the refrigerator and use it in savory dishes all the time.
We're Auburn faithful, but I don't know anyone who'd dare fault Nick Saban.
DeleteYes to ginger cake, biscuits and marmalade. We use ginger powder to spice some foods instead of chilli.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment the biggest priority is to keep warm in this cold weather. Still no snow but with clear skies at night it is freezing here. And, as you say, to keep healthy as best we can. Just been out on a ladder putting the Christmas lights on the house. Why can't they build houses with the Christmas light decorations already fitted?
I liked your answers, Mevely. I didn't know tomorrow was blue Jeans day. P wear mostly black although I have a pair in blue ... for tomorrow.
God bless always.
There you go! (Contractors, paying attention?) I may have to buy some ginger powder and sample.
DeleteI am a Bama fan. Nick Saban was the best. But, I bet he's enjoying spending more time with his wife and kids.
ReplyDeleteWar Eagle! (*heh-heh*)
Deletehello from under the rock that doesn't know who Roll Tide is but have heard it said on the news, I do know where Alambama is but only because you noved there.
ReplyDeleteI want black jeggins because al if have is one pair of Walmart denim jeggins and I NEED black, I rushed over to the next tab and checked the prices and now have hurt my back getting back on the chair I fell out of.. I did like gingerbread when mother used to make it but haven't had any since then
Sorry about that! Roll Tide is the war cry for the University of Alabama football team.
DeleteWhen I was in the hospital last year, I bought a lot of colored pencils and those "adult" coloring books that always have pretty pictures. It's relaxing.
ReplyDeleteHoliday relaxing? Watching Christmas movies late at night with a mug of hot chocolate.
I love homemade gingerbread, especially warm from the oven.
My goal for the end of the year? Survival. And having the ability to walk again....without pain or fear.
I like your final thought.
Someone once gifted me one of those adult coloring books -- that I never opened. Wish I'd known you then!
DeleteYes, Macaroni Grill. We still have one. I like your idea about coloring the world. Sounds like a perfect way to relax. That's why I buy the ready made gingerbread house for James and I to decorate. I can't do zipper waist anymore. Yes, staying healthy is the best. I'm struggling this year and it is very depressing with all that I want to do. Interesting random. Enjoy the rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteWell, I haven't actually done that (coloring) - but remember free-handing fun. Like being back in kindergarten!
DeleteI'm a Georgia fan, of course, but everyone has to admire good ol' Nick and his stellar career, Myra. Our head coach, Kirby Smart, learned his skills under Saban's wings, and it shows! Jeans are my all day every day favorites. Gingerbread? I only like the soft kind. Have a blessed Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteIsn't watching SEC great fun? Go Dawgs! (Unless they're playing Auburn, lol.)
DeleteWe're Tennessee fans so it's Rocky Top all day long for us : ) But you have to admire Nick Saban and I'm kind of glad he got out when he did. The college football world has changed so much with the NIL and not necessarily for the better. We are also Clemson fans as we live nearby and Dabo has a wonderful coaching ethic as well. He has resisted the NIL but I don't think that can last when everybody else is in it. Anyway, sorry for the football tangent lol. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this smile on my face! Because my boss was a huge Gators fan, years ago we talked our IT tech into finagling her laptop so it began playing Rocky Top each time she lifted the lid. Great memory.
DeleteOooo that is a big comment, but it is so true....We all think we have to get a reward when we do something out of the norm. Been there a million times with the weight loss. Love your tree in this post...so warm and inviting. I will most likely be wearing jeans....comfortable ones. LOl
ReplyDeleteMe, too. Nevertheless, I still want a reward.
DeleteOh my goodness -one side of my family is in Alabama and they are always, “roll- tide” here and “roll-tide “ there! I’m a Californian, so my son had to explain it to me. When he served in the Navy he knew a couple shipmates from Alabama. It’s like a religion! Talk about being a fish out of water, when I visit and they’re on a Roll Tide roll…
ReplyDeleteI’m curious of the name of the Italian restaurant.
Was it Buca di Beppo? My husband says no -they have the red checkered tablecloth. I do remember one that did that.
Enjoyed your answers!
Like a religion, exactly! You should see when I go to the grocery on game day and everyone's wearing their logo-wear. It's 'Roll Tide!' this and 'War Eagle!' that.
DeleteNo, the restaurant I'm remembering is Macaroni Grill.
That's right, it is Macaroni Grill. My husband was right. Grrrrrrrrrrrr
DeleteMullet Bay Seaford on St. Simon's Island (Georgia) has butcher paper & crayons on the table and invites everyone to draw. We did that. It is lots of fun and it wiles away the wait while they're preparing a yummy meal.
ReplyDeleteI'm in my comfy recliner watching something mindless on BritBox with a small glass of cabernet sauvignon to my left. 🍷 All 3 of my fur-babies are sleeping on their chargers after getting a bath. They act like it wore them out! I'm the one wore out! 🤪
That's a "no" on the gingerbread for me. Never been a fan. I like dark chocolate anything. It goes well with red wine too. I'm so there ..
I wear blue jeans nearly every day.
No end of year goals for me except get out of this year without going completely crackers.
I agree with the meme. Absolutely correct.
Blessings. 🥰
You and Steve are my inspiration! Let's pray 2025 is a great year.
DeleteI love that quote! It won't happen overnight. That's what I love about Duolingo and Spanish. I'm doing just a little bit every day now and after 19 months I have a lot more to learn, but I know a lot more than I did when I started.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful example!
DeleteIf you quit, it won't happen at all. Kinda profound in its simplicity. We loved that restaurant with the paper and crayons and I can't think of the name of it. Went bust here and Chili's moved in. Happy December!!
ReplyDeleteSame here ... Macaroni Grill went bust before we moved here in 2018. (*sad face*)
DeleteFirst of all I love your meme at the end.
ReplyDeleteHey, you can buy a coloring book to go with the crayons - that sounds like fun. I will be with you on a recliner minus the dog (:. Sounds nice. I like gingerbread cake, but not cookies. I hope you and Tom stay very healthy.
Thank you so much! 🤗
DeleteI'm not a great fan of the flavor of ginger but will eat it once in a while. I guess I failed as a mother and grandmother. Never made gingerbread houses..but we did make Christmas cookies together.
ReplyDeleteI have 5 or 6 "adult" coloring books that I still use today to wind down..I use mostly colored pens and pencils. When I was about 7 or 8 I won a coloring book contest for our local Lucky's Grocery store. The book had many advertised food items that we had to color just like the product. I won a toy little sewing machine which I wasn't in the least thrilled with. Me and sewing have never been friends.. (:0)
Our local Macaroni Grill is still open. Haven't been there in about 6 years..it's gotten to be very expensive.
Dave is the College football fan. When we were doing tour stuff for the alumni groups of the Pac 10 teams and the Rose Bowl game every New Years Day, we were always cheering for the alumni of the team we had on our motor coach. Mostly Ohio, Michigan, and Washington .
It was fun to get into the rabid team fever.
Sue
How fun! I've only attended one college football game but was astounded by the enthusiasm these young people exhibited v. professional -- both the players and spectators.
DeleteI'd have been right there with you on the little sewing machine. Meh...
I have never actually seen a gingerbread house that I can remember. It was never big around our homes. But I do like ginger bread, but that is very seldom also. It is hard to discard those favorite jeans.... Hugs to brother Tom and thanks for having us over for a visit.
ReplyDeleteLove you lady!
Anytime, dear friends.
DeleteIf you quit, it won't happen at all - so true!
ReplyDelete👍
DeleteI forgot you're a War Eagler, LOLOLOL. Wishing you a beautiful weekend my friend.
