"... gang aft a-gley"!
So where was I?
Oh ya, prepping for our Christmas in July house party.
(Not naming names, but 'someone' may have foolishly remarked, "Are you sure this is worth it?")
Oh, I planned where every body could sit comfortably. And decorated. With a little help from friends, the menu included Boston Butt, smoked turkey-and-dressing, and traditional sides.
Exposed to Covid, Troy and Lois called out; another cried 'migraine!' ... but sent Billy with these adorable fruit creatures.
I didn't get a photo, but Linda's Coca-Cola cake was soooo good.
What actually happened .....
Everyone crammed into the family room and happily yakked for 3 hours about politics, this n' that. So refreshing to be among like-minded folks and not concern myself watching what I say. Or not.
Cindy assured me, "We'll do it again."
(I don't know whether to feel reassured ... or terrified. lol)
🎄
In other news ...
While leaving Bible study Monday morning, my not-1 yr. old car decided to quietly and suddenly lose all power.
Volkswagen was in a word, unsympathetic -- "the earliest we can see it is August 20." Sorry, not sorry.
That was before Tom got involved.
At least now it's sitting at the dealership in Montgomery, waiting for an opening in their schedule.
.... and I've a pretty new Tiguan (loaner) in the driveway.
Unfortunately, I love it. That's probably what dealerships are counting on, ya know?
🎂
Our 'lady girls' are turning 11 years old on Sunday, so I've ordered them new beds and Chewy cake pops.
... and put together a little video.
(Hope this works; my middle name's probably Technophobe.)
On that note, I'd better get to moving!
Thanks so much for making time to visit. I appreciate y'all!
Hugs, Myra

Sorry ... the video did not work. I tried several times.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you party went well, and so sorry some loved ones could not attend. I love the banana dolphins.
God bless you and yours always.
Thank you, Victor. How about now?

What a brilliant video and great music. I loved it. Thank you Mevely for fixing the problem. I really love your dogs. What breed are they - Maltese?
DeleteGod bless.
I'm so glad it worked! They're half Malese, half Poodles.
DeleteUnlike you, I'm used to a house full of people. My family does take up a lot of space. Happy Birthday to your girls! Hope you have a great rest of the week and Happy Over the Hump Day! Love, ma
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Ma!
DeleteI couldn't access the video, either. Even though it was stressful for you, Myra, it sure seemed that everyone had a good time. That's what counts!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, my friend!
Yes, thanks for reminding me what counts!
DeleteYou know you are with good friends when you can sit and gab for hours on end and have that like mindedness. Your party sound terrific. Love big gatherings. I think we need to do something like that in the future.
ReplyDeleteSue
PS..I do hope your car gets fixed without too much delay and cost. New car shouldn't do that.

That's what I thought, too! Yet, someone was telling me this morning his wife's brand-new Subaru has been in the shop 3 times for air conditioning ... or lack thereof.
Deleteso happy you have a safe car to drive while waiting. this is a true and serious statement, I actually got feelings of stress just reading about the party, from start to finish. I have had exactly 2 parties in my homes since 1963 when first married. that doesn't include kids or parents coming for dinner. One was 1993, the real estate office I worked in had a dinner where we ate at 5 different homes, my was the first and there were 20 of us, and I did not have enough room for 20 people to sit, so some stood. scoffed the offering, can't remember what it was. and we moved to another home, the other was 1995 when I had my overcomes Sunday school class over for the Same type thing and I am still stressed over it. I am not a party goer or giver... I like 2 to 4 people at a time. the thought of talking politics makes me want to scream and 3 hours of that many people well, you know how I would feel... to bad I can't just comment and not say what I think. I hope all of you enjoyed it and promise if you have another I will not say what I think
ReplyDeleteI remember those progressive dinner parties!
DeleteHi Technophobe, meet me, Technidiot!
ReplyDelete😄 ... pleased to meet-cha.
DeleteThe get together sounds so wonderful. It made me smile too. The banana's are so cute. How clever.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the car though! Maybe the dealership can get to it much sooner. At least the loaner is nice, right?!
Happy birthday to your girls. My boys, Jack and Sam (brothers), just turned 11 also. I don't know where the time went. 💙
I'm not holding my breath about the car, but will enjoy the 'step up' meanwhile. Just wish I had somewhere to go, lol.
DeleteSorry, no video, but the party sounds like it was a lot of fun. I know it was a lot of work, but the people sound like they just relaxed and had a good time and that is what you wanted to happen, right? Sometimes simpler is better! People just aren't into formal stuffy parties anymore, thank goodness! Casual is always more fun. Happy Birthday to your little ladies. Maybe just take some still photos of them enjoying their cake pops and new beds. Sorry to hear about your car. Glad they gave you a loaner, but still...one year old???? That's just crazy. I think that's why we always buy used cars so all the bugs are already worked out. LOL. That plus that's all we can afford. LOL. Take care my friend, and relax now that the party is over!
ReplyDeleteYou've got a point about the used v. new. At least humans 'back then' humans used to work on them, v. robots.
DeleteI'm with you, I do not care to entertain anymore. Way to go on the prep work you did and the meal sounds amazing. Love the fruit creatures. Hey, the drinks sound good to me. Glad that all minds were thinking alike! Sorry about your car. Happy Birthday to the girls!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteYour party sounded wonderful and well planned. Sorry not everyone could come - but for those that came it was fun.
ReplyDeleteMen get things done because people are afraid of them - we are too nice. Same in the school system.
Glad your car is getting fixed.
Happy 11th birthday to the girls.
I guess Covid is starting up again - ???
I agree with you about politics. ☺
Great minds! 😉
DeleteAs others commented, the video didn't work for me either. :( Your July Christmas party appears to have been a success and great fun!! Cute banana/dolphins in the grapes/water. Great idea! Thanks for sharing the fun. Just for the record, no one pays attention to dust bunnies or waste can liners!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks... I needed to hear that! 😄
DeleteSounds like fun was had by all. ‘Adult’ hot chocolate sounds interesting. 😊 Hope they figure out your car sooner rather than later. Take care, Sheila Y
ReplyDeleteThank you so much 😊
DeleteSounds like a really fun party. We went to my sister's on Saturday for a game night since my daughter was home. Games were only played for a very short time and then everyone ended up sitting around and just talking like you guys. I enjoyed the talking so much more than the game playing. lol Hope you have a great weekend! Oh and I was unable to view the video.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy! I think I fixed the girls' video and will share it on FB tomorrow.
