Does anybody really know what day it is? Last week we skipped the Hodgepodge and I just assumed this week would find us in December. But nope. Still November. Do you wear a watch? Use a paper calendar or strictly electronic?
I print a monthly grid each month and hang on the refrigerator ... more to satisfy my OCD tendencies than anything else. At month's end, each page gets filed with those going before. 5 years now, and I've no idea 'why.'
What's your favorite hour of the day? Why?
Depending on our dogs' bladders, that would be 5-6 (ish). Once they do their thing, I swallow my pills, hop back in bed then scroll through FB/word games 'til it's coffee o'clock.
Having lived all my life under deadlines/timelines, you've no idea how I longed for this sort of freedom to do as I please. (Most of the time, that is.)
Tell us something about how you celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday.
Delicious and delightfully low-key. Troy and Lois joined us, bringing with them a yummy casserole, beautiful poinsettia and two boxes of Little Debbie Christmas cakes. (Ha! Guess who was the most popular gal at Bible study?)
What's a sound you hate to hear?
Our weather radio/sirens.
Living in the south, I'm thankful for them. But wow. What absurd, ear-splitting sounds they make!

So, I believed myself 'Done!' with my Christmas shopping, until!
A gift I'd ordered via Etsy arrived yesterday, exceeding expectations!
This is probably the part where I should say, I've been promised nothing for saying this, but like to support small business folks whenever possible.
Unbelievably soft, one nuzzle and the dogs went absolutely batty. I literally had to run to the bedroom and shut the door while I put it away.

What to do but get back online and order another for the girls' Christmas present.
As far as I know, they don't watch true crime television, but it was the only one that boasts a 'mink touch' (v. fleece).

ReplyDeleteI find it annoying when watches, clocks and other time-pieces do not agree what time it is. Sometimes it is coffee o'clock and lunch at the same time. I now have a sundial. Always accurate. Have you ever known a sundial to be five minutes slow or fast? And indoors we have a luminous one so we can tell the time in the dark.
I love that blanket. Looks cool.

DeleteAnd that is what retirement has meant for us as well. Since moving to Plano, TX three years ago, our lives have become busier than ever before. That is a good thing, but definitely requires both types of calendars - paper and iPhone, plus my iPad and still we get days confused. Do trust you will get a negative result on your test.

DeleteI set an alarm most days, but it's more to make sure I have enough time to putter (eat breakfast, read the newspaper, and check in on the Internet and my blogging friends) before the first morning activity.

DeleteI spent Thanksgiving with all the family that lives in Ohio. 5 of my children and all their families. It wasn't quite at all, but full of joy and hugs and kisses. The holidays wouldn't be the same without having family to celebrate with.I'm still doing my Christmas shopping. Hopefully I can finish soon as they are saying the deadline for mailing is the 16th. of December. I hope to have those I have to mail, ready before then. DeleteI also love people watching at the airport. I'm glad I'm not flying anywhere these days, however. I keep a calendar in our bathrooms where I put all of our appointments and activities for the month. That way we can see it when we are in there first thing in the morning and before bed at night, so we know what's coming up. I don't do well with electronic calendars in my phone, etc. I rarely use it. Probably should, but I don't. That blanket is hysterical. Reminds me of the nightmare I had the other night, but if it gives you comfort, so be it. Maybe if I'd had that wrapped around me I wouldn't have been having such a bad dream about people trying to kill me and me running down the streets with a knife screaming someone help me! LOL. That was basically it, but really quite stressful because it felt so real. I am swearing off muscle relaxers and scary programs on tv. LOL. Oh, I can imagine your pups will love it. That's so funny!! Oh, I will be praying for your test results...(((hugs))). Love to you and yours at this beautiful season of the year. And yes, those weather alerts and amber alerts are the ones I hate to hear also. Not just because the noise is so loud, but because of what they represent. That and constant sirens on the highway. The noise carries across the pond disturbing my peace of mind, but also a call to pray for whomever is in need. Love to you dear friend.

I am still trying to think of a place I mind waiting. I love the life parade myself. i don't mind waiting in the car for someone to come out of a store, the park lots are a treasure trove for the life parade.
even traffic signals i don't mind. bob minds waiting anywhere, anytime .. i have overheard priceless conversations in resturants.

DeleteI am so with you on favorite time of day. Being a working MoM and wife, there was very little time to do what "I" wanted to do. Retirement can be great. I've got gifts for all the grands, the adults are getting gift cards because that's the way I roll these days!
