Do you have (or have you had) a special or best friend -- or, do you consider all your friends the same?
Pretty sure I left 'best' behind while in grade school.
(Funny tho', how I still say that occasionally.)
Definitely, not all the same! I like to think of my friends as dishes brought to a fabulous pot-luck ... each a different-but-delicious something or another.
Like Sid Simon once wrote, all of us need different kinds of friends:
There's a Confidante ... an Intelligence Stretcher ... an Adventure Bringer ... a Role Model ... and of course, a Chicken Soup Bringer.
What do you consider yourself?
Many in the past had close relationships and fell in love through letters. What do you think of online friendships. Are they real? Are there friends who last a lifetime?
I totally treasure the friendships I've made here in Blogland. Oh yes, they're very real ... I hope they last a lifetime!
Are there stories, movie or TV programs that you enjoyed because of the friendship or relationship portrayed in it?
There've been many I enjoyed -- but not necessarily because of the relationship.

What does friendship mean to you?
I love the certainty (that) I'll never have to walk alone.
Not physically, of course, but it's such a comfort to know the friendships I've woven are as near as my thoughts.

Some I can count on letting me when I'm wrong, setting my footsteps back on the right path ... some simply listen.
I want to do the same for them.
Wouldn't we all make an interesting patchwork quilt!

DeleteI do love and treasure all the friends I've made in Blogland, Myra. They are such gifts to me. With our 50th high school reunion just around the corner, I'm looking forward to reconnecting with old friends once again.

Deletesing with me now, thank you for being my friend. yesterday my blog friend in Sweden for the past 12 years, said her IRL friends come into her home less than her URL friends. I love that.
ReplyDeleteMy ONLY friend from high school, Madeline, lived 3 doors down and we were in each others wedding, raised our kids together, lost touch when i moved here, but still the best of friends, is in the hospital and may not make it. she almost died last year and here we are again. she pretty much saved me during highschool. she is a IRL and URL friend and has been in hospital/rehab/Icu since june 7th..

ReplyDeleteJesus considers us all friends. He loves us equally, but each one differently according to their needs.
My parents had a framed picture in old style calligraphy. It said: True Happiness consists not in the multitude of friends but in their worth and choice.
Friends are people who will loan you their time, love and attention, but never borrow your lawnmower.
I've made many friends on Blogland, just like you. I hope we continue to keep in touch either through Blogs or by e-mail. It's so sad when people stop blogging suddenly and you don't know what's happened to them.

I love that quote, Victor! Do you still have the picture? It's been years, but I'm still puzzled by the inexplicable disappearances of a couple bloggers. I got this idea from Jack -- in the event something should happen to me, I've left instructions how to get 'into' my blog that Tom or my son can update.
DeleteI don't have the picture personally; it's with another sibling. I'll try to get a photo of it.

ReplyDeleteYou say so much in so little words. I am a talker, I like to be kind to everyone I encounter. Lots of wonderful blog friends. Two special ones who passed away. Others who stopped blogging and speaking to many. Kind of sad. Love seeing you here. Prayers always for Tom. Have a great week and nice evening.

This is a very happy place to be...especially on a hot day when it's too hot to be outside doing anything else, and I can sit here inside where it is cool and visit with special friends like you. ReplyDeleteI like all the answers here. I used way too many words on my previous comment. So I will be brief. Poor Nick worked late as they had to cancel lots of flights. The weather is not cooperating with vacation plans. I need to prepare for the rain. They put in a new transformer but I can not afford to have my bed in the upright position just in case. Rebekah got on their case at Excel. These neighbors need to be grateful. Who is afraid to pick up their phone and report a power outage? I say you are a bum! I was miffed with Carleen as she said she called and they were closed. Aw....disappointed that she fibbed. Its a utility co. Somebody is always picking up the phone lines. Rebekah went door to door with some neighbors to tell them next time they need to call and report! We hope we will not have a next time for a very long time. Blog friends are some of the very best friends. aw........
