Gosh, it's been an UNeventful few days. Small blessings!
I was stumped when time came to pack away my Independence Day theme decor. What does the month of August represent, anyway? I'd a choice between Back-to-School or tired flamingos -- and finally arrived at this:
Mother's appetizer plates, wine glasses from my former boss, and Dollar Store 'treasures' -- green sand, faux seaglass and a bag of shells. My nod to a beach-bar since we probably won't be taking the ride anytime soon.

Wasn't it Vidal Sassoon who pioneered the asymmetrical haircut? I've not an ounce of cosmetology experience -- and it shows. My hair's always had a mind of its own .... and no matter the amount of goop I use, the left side usually insists on sticking straight out to the side.
Channeling the spirit of the late Mr. Sassoon last night I grumbled, "I'll fix you!"
Whaddya know? Sometimes even a blind squirrel gets the nut! Woot!
Not gonna politicalize this -- not soliciting a debate -- but someone I respect recently observed, "Would start stocking up if I were y'all."
Here I used to think my grandparents were totally behind the times -- but if I was put in charge of filling the pantry, we'd probably starve.
So sorry to hear that your friend got Covid, even vaccinated. Its really weird how this is spreading. Can't put my finger on it but something doesn't sound right. It is also interesting in that they really don't test for the Delta variant so why are they assuming all new cases are from the Delta variant? Anyway, I hope she makes a full recovery soon!
ReplyDeleteI think it is wise if someone has the means to stock up on things regardless of the times. You just never know when something is going to hit and supplies will be low or nonexistent in the stores. Also I have heard that businesses are having a hard time getting employees to work which is causing delays in getting things shipped, stocked, etc.
Gosh, I'm all doom and gloom today lol :)
Hope you and Tom found the right TV for what you guys want :) Surprisingly since Winslow came along we have reduced our TV watching by 95% which may be a good thing :)

Thanks, Betty! Yes, Debbie's optimistic and her doctor phones everyday to get vitals. I'm sure you're right about inventories; both Keurig and Chewy have notified us about shortages in our 'regular' orders.

My hair has a mind of its own. I doubt if Sassoon could have helped me. I saw Sassoon once, coming out of his Beverly Hills salon. That was loooong ago.
I haven't had a TV since I moved to TN. I get most channels "live-streamed" on the Internet.
The (many) televisions they have nowadays only serve to confuse and confound me. Good luck in your quest for a new one!
Exactly! I may or may not have said I wish we had my parent's 1970-something television. I don't dare try to operate 'his' remote.

You probably already when shopping but we have really liked out TCL TV's. We have 3 of them in the house and they don't cost a lot compared to some others.

Deletewalmart has a 70 inche for 598 and really strinking prices on really big screens. we bouught our 47 inch at walmart, a Polaroid and it is now 10 years old, bought it in 2011,

I LOVE that shell dish... I just have two vases of flowers, one for year round and 2 of the months i put Chrismtas flowers in the same vase.
Christmas is the only season i have ever decorated for and have about given up that. easy peasy.
I am praying for debbie and it is shocking how sick she is after being vaccinated.
My hair has 2 cowlicks, both on the left side, one at forehead one at top back. the hair has to sometimes be glued down. Bob says my hari grows forward on the left side. i bet yours does also. thankful he has been cutting mine for 36 years because he listens. hairdressers would not listen to what my hair does. if the bangs don't touch my eyebrows it stands straight out. he got tired of me crying when i got a hair cut. I cut the top, he does the sides and back.
How lucky you are, having Bob 'do' your hair! I can't imagine what a 70" screen looks like ... the drive-in theatre, I'm thinking. We chose a 55' and it JUST barely fits the tabletop.
DeleteHow sad I am to hear that your vaccinated friend contracted Covid, Myra. That scares the living you-know-what out of me, especially with my mother's memorial service coming up this Saturday. We did opt for an entire event at the graveside, not inside the church, so that will be of some protection, I hope. It's Danny who's much more worried about getting sick than I am, but I don't want it, either, of course! When will this ever end??? Makes me wonder why we got the vaccines in the first place. Oh, well . . . I gotta remember that God is the only One large and in charge.

I wish these folks would just come out and admit the truth; they don't know, instead of making it up as they go.

DeleteP.S. Take it from someone who works in a grocery store, you have to stock up. Ok...I won't be preaching it, I am just going to state facts; inflation will drive the truck drivers near out of business. Its already happening here, my friend. Its scary to see so many empty shelves. Supply and demand is also a issue.

DeleteIt is a bit concerning that I know two fully vaccinated people who both came down with Covid. They are sick but not in the hospital. I still read that Moderna is protecting us from the new variant but I am anxious to get a booster whenever one is available. I think the flu shots should be available soon and will be getting that one, too. As for the TV... forget the repair. TVs are throw-aways these days (my experience x 2). Have a blessed week ahead! xo

DeleteYeah, what Terri said about the TV, just replace it. No one repairs them anymore...you could buy a new one for the price of a service call. I am suddenly hearing of people sick and dying w/Covid, some vax'd, some not. Not sure what on earth is going on, but we just keep praying and living life. Can't allow fear to overcome us. God IS in control, and our lives are in His hands, no matter what, whether we are vax'd or not. It is wise to be prudent about food, etc., but again, not give in to fear or panic. I would love to see your hairdo. I am due for a new perm. That keeps me from pulling my hair out like a screaming meemee. I have cowlicks in the back of my hair that drive me crazy, so the perm helps cover them up. Thankfully I am not out to impress anyone with my good looks and charm anymore...so I do what makes ME happy with my hair, clothes, etc. Hubby is happy, and that's all that matters. I wonder, because I am left handed is that a thing? hahahaha Not getting political but was visiitng someone who has a cancer that metastisized and she is more concerned about the lambda variant and vaccinating young kids. I have heard that they would be more more prone to myocarditis. My middle brother ed has that. Trust me, you do not want that in your life. I tend to stick to my bible and keep looking upward. amason and I are BFF's and they even deliver my groceries because I am not going anywhere in this miserable heatwave. Plus we have air pollution out of control from the Caslifornia fire they say, and it is miserable. I love my cool house so no thank you 90 something heatwave. I am a happy clam indoors. I would buy a new TV. The cost is probably more to repair an older one and you might as well get something fun! I believe in living well you can.. I am so sorry about your friend. I will be praying for her. My niece Stacie's husband Eddie had Covid, weird cause she is a nurse and vaccinated and he is home with kids hmmm..... he has lost so much of his memory and struggles with remembering. He is a younger man too. I hope everyone stays happy and healthy. The world is a mess and I prefer thinking about all the goodness coming when Jesus does return. We keep dry groceries and some freezer items so we do not have to run to the store constantly but we do what we can and pray always. I hope you all have a wonderful week. Take care xo xo

DeleteTo be SADLY truthful, it is probably better to buy than repair a TV in today's market. Most likely just a trip to the REPAIRMAN for diagnostics would probably be half the cost of the new one and you would probably end up deciding for a new one anyway.

Yep, in the end we just bought a new one. But dang, we're getting too old to make sense of all this set-up. Nearly got my first migraine trying to understand the instruction manual and prompts. LOL!
DeleteI'm so sorry about your friend. Even when there are breakthrough cases the vaccines still increase your odds of not needing hospitalization. I had shingles in my eye years ago, even though I had had the vaccine. I was still grateful it didn't permanently damage my vision.

DeleteI heard this week that the supply chain is going to affect Christmas toys! I'm so sorry about your friend. Every single day I hear of someone else who has covid. The vaccine seems to be doing its job of keeping folks out of the hospital and off the ventilator. I hope it keeps on! I don't want to have to worry about toilet paper again. I hated that!

DeleteThe mountains on my Wordless Wednesday were Mt. Fuji in Japan but can not find anything as to who took the bridge photo or where it is. I use to get a little nervous crossing the bridge in "the Grove" where my grandmother lived that ran over the Arkansas River. I am better now. But if you take me over Monarch Pass, I have to be sedated or givien massive doses of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band music to survive. FUnny, ROger my SIL droveus over the MIllion DOllar Hwy in COlorado. Youtube it hahaha. ALso my dad drove us over PHantom Canyon when I was a kid. I was always so safe with my folks, especially dad, so thinking back, Y I K E S !!! Watching baseball and being a total slig on a terribly 85 degree hot day. HAve a wonderful day. HUGS
