Dear friends,
'Just curious...
Do your family members read your blog? If so, do they ever comment on what we, your readers, may say?
When I first began this blogging adventure, I was a little disappointed that Tom wasn't right there, looking over my shoulder. Sure, if I ask him to look at something in particular he'll do so, but he's largely uninterested.
Come to think of it, like I am about his RC Aircraft.
Dear Mother,
So many things I regret not having asked!
For example. How did you feel about having to move 1,200 miles away from family and friends to what must have felt like the middle of no-where?
Judging from your expression in this picture, I'm guessing you weren't thrilled.
Dear August,
I'm sorry to say, but if the calendar was a body? I think you'd be the arm pit.
So far, this year has flown by.
Until we got to Month #8. I wake up each morning thinking, surely it must be September. Nope, still August.
Like Groundhog Day x 31.
Dear Jeanne Robertson,
Now, it's the angels who are laughing.
Thank you for your gentle humor that never failed to lift our spirits. May you and 'Left Brain' RIP.

Never seen Jeanne Robertson here on TV. May she rest in peace. I guess naked bungee jumping would be advertised as airing one's differences.
ReplyDeleteSome family members do read my Blog. They also click on commenters' links and read their Blogs too.
It is always difficult when you have to leave one's "home" and move miles away to settle elsewhere. I know I did not quite "fit in" when in London. But that's where the work was. Also it meant a lot of travelling throughout the UK too. Luckily, over here, places are closer to each other compared to the US. That is why our cars are smaller. Trains are shorter too. If we had long trains you could walk from one end of the train to another and reach your destination before the train has even moved.

RIP Jeanne. The best way to get a point across is with humor and she was one of the best. My sisters and my BFF Elaine get my blog, as does Darlene and Kali. Jeff and Joey read now and then. Joe didn't care, though at times I would seek his wise counsel. I haven't had a Fed Ex delivery like that but did get them from Chewy several times. I've stopped ordering most things from them. ReplyDeleteHubby really doesn't have too much interest in my blog. I don't think he has read it much. My sister and niece used to read it but I'm not sure they know I have a new one now and I'm not sure they would be able to get a link for it since I made my other blog private so they might not be able to find my profile to get my new blog's link.
I wasn't familiar with Jeanne Robertson. I did see that she had passed.
I'm really surprised how fast August is going lol. Its been a weird summer in Phoenix. We have had lower temps but higher humidity. We barely have gone over 108 and most days closer to the 101/102. We are forecast to get 110 I think on Thursday. Several "good" recent monsoons which were nice :)

Ya, one of Tom's buddies was telling him about all the rainfall y'all are getting. Wow! I hope you'll check out this video or one of Jeanne's others on line. Like Martha said, she showed us you can be funny without being crude.

DeleteI will miss Ms Jeanne, I discovered her when we lived in NC. I have a dvd and a couple of cd’s of hers. Paid and streamed her show from Charlotte, NC awhile back. Loved her Saturday’s on the back porch. Too sad, Sheila

ReplyDeleteMy daughter reads my blog, my sister and sister-in-law read it occasionally. I usually have Andy read the posts about him and the land.
I love August because it means the days are getting shorter and the worst of summer is over. It goes zipping by for me.
Can't really say WHY seems to me August is taking so long. Probably this Southern heat and humidity. I love the shorter days!
DeleteGood Morning! Re:Package...I agree, "Really?" Re: does my family read my blog...well, I think my sister reads it occasionally, but mostly from Facebook and rarely comments. I may have a niece who also reads but may only comment on facebook, likewise a cousin. Hubby? Never! My kids? Never! And if they do, they've never told me. I never really got to know Jeanne. I should go back and revisit her if her performances are online. I am always too late to the party it seems. I have moved over 1000 miles from home several times...and it was always very difficult, but we made the most of it and embraced wherever we were for while we were there. Weekly Saturday morning phones calls with my Mother always helped me get by. I still miss those calls and think of her every Saturday morning and just wish I could pick up the phone and call. I've often wondered why heaven doesn't have phones or email. I guess God likes to keep us in suspense and anticipation for that which is yet to come. August? It has been very HOT and I am quite ready for it to be over and done with. September is my happy month (birth month) and then comes October which I love even more! So better days are coming! I love your post. Thank you.

DeleteMy mother and I would talk every Saturday, too! I love the thought of a phone line to Heaven. (*sigh*) Yes, you can find many of Jeanne's performances on-line; this one I shared here in the post is one of my personal favorites.
No excuse for that packaging, if one can call it that, Myra. And yes, I was so sorry to hear of Jeanne's passing as we did enjoy her witty comedy. She showed us that you can be funny without being crude.

DeleteI think some members of my family - maybe one of my sisters? - read my blog . . .at least occasionally. If I post the link on facebook, more friends and family read it but sometimes I prefer just "hanging out" with blog friends :-).
ReplyDeleteMe, too. When I first began blogging in '08 I made a concerted effort to keep it separate from social media so my friends and coworkers wouldn't 'find' me.
DeleteI don't think my family read my blog often. But my brother told me a few years ago he ran across it and read a bunch of it. Interesting that he would take the time to do that. My husband is like yours, he'll read it if I ask and even did a couple guest posts, but he doesn't typically read it.

DeleteNope, my family doesn't read my blog. They know I blog, but they know nothing about my blog and I prefer it that way. I had issues with our son over my blog several years ago. I tend to be very careful of what I say and how I say it these days, but I still don't want those in my "real" life reading it. People can get their knickers in a twist of the tiniest of things and I just don't need that. Heeeey....poor August is my birthday month! Actually, it's not my favorite, either. Other than my birthday it's best selling point is that it brings summer to a close so my favorite season can begin!
ReplyDeleteLots of nice folks leaving this earth, they are the lucky ones. I get lots of readers, not very many comments. I use to go everywhere and read and comment. Not so much anymore. I stick to a smaller group of people who have been kind in commenting. :-)
