It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

While the drive to and around Birmingham's not something I enjoy, the roads were dry. Best of all? An encouraging report from Tom's ophthalmologist. The MRI showed no mass!
Not far from the clinic, Tom discovered a new 'toy store' (think RC aircraft) -- and was in such a great mood he suggested we swing by the Cheesecake Factory. You don't have to ask me twice!
Tom always gets strawberry, but I went for pumpkin. Lawdy, it's so dense and rich, I couldn't eat another bite all day. Merry Christmas to me!
Actually, no.
Mother Nature already gifted me the best temps!
27* yesterday morning .... I practically did a happy dance all about the yard.

It's too late to orchestrate Lil Jul Aften this year. But in homage to my Scandinavian roots, I'd like to begin that tradition in 2021. Do you know how many years it's been since I've had lefse?

DeleteThat's great news from the doctor. Our Christmases are always lowkey, but when Andy went to the grocery store this morning it was jammed. No one was checking to be sure the limit was enforced. I wonder if the person supposed to be doing it was out sick? Anyway, the pre-Christmas mayhem has already started? If it doesn't feel safe I'll stay away until after Christmas...hurray for resourcefulness. Have a great and safe holiday season!

DeleteFantastic news from the ophthalmologist! Certainly great to celebrate it with cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. By the way, do you think their pieces are getting smaller? I am thinking so, at least here. Lefse sounds delicious and what a great tradition to think to do in 2021!

Now that you mention it ... I think so. It's been more than a year we took that drive. When visiting my grandmother on the farm, I probably ate my own body weight in lefse. LOL!

DeleteI like holiday traditions but don't have very many of my own. On Christmas Eve I'll light candles in memory of loved ones now deceased.
ReplyDeleteThe strawberry cheesecake looks good but my first choice would definitely be pumpkin. I love anything made with pumpkin!
I'm glad you're enjoying some chilly winter temperatures. There's a chance that we will get some snow on Christmas Eve. My fingers...and toes...are crossed.
The lit candles sound like a lovely ritual. I normally limit myself to 1x slice of pumpkin each year, and this didn't disappoint!

DeleteSo happy for the good news regarding Tom's eye. That is wonderful. Glad you got to have some good cheesecake too to celebrate! Today has been stressless. I will stress more next week when I start wrapping gifts and trying to bake, etc. Yes, I put it off too long. I always do. That's my tradition...albeit, not a good one. Merry Christmas!

Thanks, Jack (and Sherry)! I don't recall eating Lefse since those summers I spent on my grandparent's farm in Minnesota. Always made a beeline for her freezer and set about spreading fresh butter and sprinkling sugar on top. Yum!
DeleteI have some serious catching up to do! It will be a breeze, waiting for this doctor to contact us. Your home looks lovely. I Picture you getting down and dancing in your yard. Sort of like Sandra Bullock in The Proposal hahaha! It is a whooping 35 out now but wind beating up our christmas display outdoors. It will be 23 throughout the night. Rebekah bakes her bread from scratch although I own a bread maker. She's very much like my mother was. As for Tom's eye appointment Halleluiah! Praise the Lord! Great news. Ooh Cheesecake Factory, a sugar coma to enjoy, yum! :-) I am learning a bit about Lefse. (wink wink). HUGS to you both keep happy dancing.

Hmmm! I don't think there's a story. Because of its weight (leather), I've only seen Tom wear the tan. I'll have to ask him about the other!

my grandmother was not Scandanavine, sorry can't spell it. her favorite sandwich that she took to work for her dinner each night, was mashed potato on white bread. very similar. she worked 3 to 11 at a hosptial.. OMG again I thought Jance was a man..
If memory serves..... One of the times we went to see Jance speak she said her (then) publisher thought no-one would take a female mystery writer seriously. Thus, Judy became J.A.
