But first!
Yes. I resolved to publish shorter, more frequent posts. However, this last week my head's been all over the place, unfit for public consumption. LOL!
There's been a bit of reexamining, removing and rearranging. Those of you in my FB tribe may have witnessed an unfortunate exchange, when the other day my former boss and friend left a nasty comment on something I'd posted. My wonderful, brilliant and amazing son stepped up ... and pretty soon she unfriended me. Blocked. On one hand, I feel a tremendous weight off my shoulders. On the other, I'm super sad that what we once shared has disintegrated.
Hey! It's a new day!
So, anyone who really knows me realizes I'm about as crafty as a toilet plunger. I know this. But there's those times I look at something on-line and say, "Why not?"
For instance:
As seen on Pinterest.
A tea light, strategically placed amid coffee beans -- resulting in a wonderful java-ey aroma.
No aroma. Nil.
Did you know coffee beans are flammable? Me neither.
Moving right along!
I'd never heard of 1-2-3 Cake before!
They said,
You need two boxes of cake mix. One can be any flavor you prefer, but the other MUST be Angel Food.
Mix them together.
Then, simply store the mixture in an airtight container until you get the urge for dessert:
Put 3T of the dry mixture in a coffee mug. Stir in 2T water. Microwave for one minute and you'll have a single serving of cake!
Top with fruit, ice cream, whipped cream ... whatever! Awesome for those of us who want something sweet every now and then without making an entire cake!
So ...
Yesterday afternoon Tom had a yen for something sweet.
I've got this!
Um, no. Looks and feels like a kitchen sponge.
All cooked for different times ... all rubbery.
Now I'm wondering what to do with the remaining cake mix.
All is not what it seems on Pinterest!
In closing ...
Yesterday I was back here on the computer when the dogs began barking hysterically. I went running to look out the front window to see. Nothing.
Only the leaves from the witch's tree falling furiously ... tumbling and pirouetting in the wind.
Barking at the big, bad leaves.
Say, y'all take care. We'll talk soon, I promise!
Hugs,
I'm sorry about your friend Myra, It's so sad that people feel they have to insert their side if they aren't in agreement with what we post. You saw what happened on my post the other day too :(
ReplyDeleteNext time you go on Pinterest, search Pinterest fails, you'll definitely get some good laughs!
Thanks for the tip! I'm in sore need of a little levity. (*smile*)
DeleteAh ha! It sure hurts (inside) when something sounds 'just right' but 'ain't'! The cofee smell sounded great when I read it and my mind wondered thinking 'Now Sherry would love that!' the aroma of coffee other than breakfast. Sorry it didn't work out.
ReplyDeleteOf course more sorry that people CANNOT discuss, accept, agree to disagree but MUST straighten some one out on their religious or political beliefs. I am not on FB much, but sorry to hear about what you stated. If we were all the same it would be a boring world. If one cannot accept others thoughts as their own, that is not unusual, to someone like me having only chocolate ice cream in the world would be tragic. But I can easily love a chocoholic. LOL
The best to you and Brother Tom and kado's to your son. No one should mess with mama!
Love you lady!
Sherry & jack
Thanks! I always knew Jo Anne and I were at crosshairs politically -- but being a partner at the firm, she toed the line, so to speak. So proud of my son putting her in her place in a civil manner... refusing to engage in name calling. I think I'm going to keep him. LOL!
Delete;-) ;-) thumbs up!
Deletesorry about the friend, that is why i don't post on fb or make comments, i scroll through once a day and like and rarely comment. if i don't agree with somethng i just skip it. FB is a war ground, and no fun for me.. but i do like scrolling and sometimes seeing things I can and do like.
ReplyDeletei am laughing my head off. every thing i ever try to do that i get off of the internet that seems simple, including easy recipes for foods, is always a fail. i think what ever i make, knows i hate doing it and fails because of that. i don't do pinterest or i would look for the fails. a good laugh is good for the soul....
A war ground ... yep. I've several dear friends on opposite sides of the aisle, but we've always been respectful to one another.
DeleteIt's sad to have a friend turn on you so glad your son stepped up. That wasn't really a true friend anyway.. And sorry your pinterest tries weren't successful at all but it seemed like worth trying out. We never know until we try.
ReplyDeleteThat's right! Tho' the results weren't successful, they made us laugh and laugh.
DeleteYes, it's so sad when people get nasty on social media, Myra. I have now joined Parler, and it's so nice! You are on there, right? Let me know your user name when you can.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Yeay! I'm @Myra Guca. You?
DeleteOh my on the coffee bean candle!!! I don't like when things from Pinterest don't turn out. Sorry about your issues on Facebook. I know people who are leaving to go to two other places but I'm not leaving. I still like Facebook and if there is someone I don't agree with I will snooze them for 30 days and after that, if they bug me, I will just unfollow them.
ReplyDeleteI don't go on Pinterest so much anymore ... Still, an eternal optimist. (*grin*)
DeleteSorry to hear that your ex-boss unfriended you. Just ignore it and smile. You can always write whatever you want on my blog; I will never unfriend or block you.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong with a toilet plunger. A clever piece of engineering invented by Ivor Sucker. It was modelled on his wife's lips.
Sometime ago I did try the cake mixture in a microwave. And I did get a sponge. It is something to do with the way a microwave oven works. It does not bake. It shakes the molecules of the dough so much that it heats and changes structure - i.e. becomes a sponge. Do not mix cold milk with coffee granules and then put in the microwave. It will foam all over the place like soap bubbles. Great fun.
Keep smiling. True happiness consists not in the multitude of friends; but in their worth and choice.
God bless.
Thank you, dear Victor ... both for the humor and blessed reassurance. Unfortunately, we've neither milk or coffee granules -- but I'm sorely tempted to go buy them so as to try that experiment!
DeleteAnd another thing ... have you tried MeWe? Here is my "space" on MeWe. You can create your own space, or join other spaces, or just browse different hobbies and topics.
ReplyDeleteSee: https://mewe.com/group/5bcc42fca40f300c5844d312
God bless.
I've not tried MeWe yet, but will be sure to check it out!
DeleteGOOD RIDDANCE to the small-minded people who drop us over petty grievances and differences of opinion.
ReplyDeleteI've lost MANY of my once-faithful blog readers over politics, my supposed indifference to the damn pandemic, and ...believe it or not...because I'm "too depressing".
I'm in the mood to say - to hell with them all!!!
You are a delight, Myra. Never stop being yourself.
That means a lot, Jon. Thank you so much!
DeleteSorry about your friend, but thank you for the laughs...I will look up Pinterest fails. I'm always in the market for a good chuckle.
ReplyDeleteMe, too! :)
DeleteI missed it on FB! Darn; always like a good fight (I'm only kidding). Sorry about that with your former friend. Winslow barks at the leaves stirred up with the wind we had over the weekend so your girls are just protecting their space LOL :)
ReplyDeletebetty
Yep, Sheriff Macie and Deputy Grace. :) BTW, I just sent you a PM.
DeleteI missed the FB thing. Lot of that going on these days. :( Oh my, laughing so hard over your coffee candle and cake! Hope the rest of the week goes better.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's still out there ... November 7 post. Too much ugliness going on. I just followed you and Terri to MeWe.
DeleteThanks for sharing your "fails" -- awesome!! I'm sitting here laughing out loud!! I've had a few of those, too!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad I'm not the lone ranger!
DeleteGirl, I have been blocked, unfriended, and cussed out, on FB, more than I care to remember. People has so soft these days and I am still as unfiltered as I've always been! Stay true to who you are, my friend, and don't worry about the rest! I never have been able to tiptoe around people's feelings and the older I get, the more unconcerned I am to even try! LoL
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
Awww, thanks for saying that!
DeleteOh, I forgot to mention...I've tried both of those Pinterest ideas! Yeah, same results as yours.
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
It's good to laugh at ourselves!
DeleteI totally know how that feels to have Facebook friends unfriend you because your beliefs in Politics aren't the same as theirs. I am afraid the past four years brought out the worst in many people
ReplyDeleteYes, ma'am.
