Does anyone recall the story making rounds a few months back about meat packaging? It's claim: You could identify where your meat was processed (eg, Mexico) based on the color of the Styrofoam tray.
That turned out to be fake news. But it didn't stop me from questioning our butcher when I saw some burger meat packaged on black trays, others on white. He explained, they'd run out of regular inventory and had to buy from another supplier.

One day last week I watched as Macie Ann was trying to walk towards me but kept going sideways against the wall. We guessed she hurt her back while rough-housing with her sister. Since it didn't seem to affect her good appetite or stop her from jumping up on the couch, we gave her a wee bit of baby Benadryl and kept a close eye.
Thank goodness, she bounced right back ..... but aggravated it again a few days later. Darn those chipmunks! How they enjoying teasing our girls.
I'm seriously leaning towards having the vet take a look-see, to rule out the scary stuff.
What to do, but I ordered second set of doggie stairs for the bedroom.
Little Grace took to it like a champ. Not so much my darling delinquent.
So this morning I cut up a Greenie in little pieces and began home-schooling. I even role-played ... going up and back down "1-2-3!" a few times for their benefit. 'Trying to be charitable, but methinks this is going to be a process.

ReplyDeleteMy cat did not learn from role playing. I was teaching him how to use the cat litter tray. In and out I went. In and out. He looked at me as if I was stupid. I said "wee here ... wee here ..." I tried to show him but my wife got angry. Especially since she had just invited the priest and a couple of nuns for afternoon tea.
Why did she not tell me beforehand? Why invite these religious when I'm teaching the cat how to wee?

DeleteHoping Macie Ann is back to normal soon! They worry us so much! When we had a Samoyed and son was 6 years old, he taught the dog how to go in and out of the pet door in the garage by going in and out of it himself (he was able to fit through LOL). Let us know if she gets the hang of the stairs!
ReplyDeleteToo funny about packaging! I don't know if the retailer was Amazon but we did the tour here (did I mention that before?) It was fascinating (this was before everything locked down; bet they don't do the tour these days). They showed how things get routed for packaging. I bet something got misrouted and that's how it ended up in the box rather than an envelope :)

That had to be comical to watch! Did you get a picture? I didn't know Amazon did tours! That's something I'd have enjoyed for sure. I'll bet your theory about misrouting is right!

Deleteso sorry you are hurting sweet Macie.. rough housing and playing it is easy to twist something. Beau has a limping front paw from a fast run for the ball and a twist to get it... we are watching him. I hope you feel better today and no need for a vet visit. pet stairs are great for tiny beautifu girls. it kills me when i get a package from amazon and the tiny thing is in a big box... it is happening a lot now. i had to slap my hands a few times because during the lock down I started ordering and could not stop. that said, who wants to run around to stores looking for the perfect candles.. i even order dog food delivered now. and all my over the counter pharmacy items.

Well, I would LOVE it if you moved to Alabama! I'm going to try and get the rest of my on-line shopping done soon, so there's less burden on the delivery drivers. They've already been knocking themselves out since the pandemic, and I fear it's only going to get worse.

Now, regarding packaging, I ordered some eye makeup from Avon, and it also came in a box with bubble wrap, but there was a crack in the bottom of the box wide enough (where the cardboard didn't quite meet in the middle) that the pieces could have easily slipped through the crack because they weren't even sufficiently rolled in the bubbles. But they made it safely...which I considered a miracle! I also noticed the price of your ground chuck...ours has been hovering around 4.99 for ages! Is that a sale price or your norm? Wow! I may also have to move to AL!! Have a happy Sunday.

DeleteOh sweet Macie, I hope she will be better soon. These pups and even the naughty cat can cause such alarm for us. Hoping all will be well with her. Sisters.... My relatives still own a meat market down home but I amm careful as to what I purchase anymore. I recently did see a commercial saying McDonalds uses local farmers. Interesting. Not to defend corporate suits, but amazon utilizes lots of small businesses. When I purchased my Colorado Columbine earrings I did my own research. A small business owner sells for another small business and they use amazon. I know this because my earrings were made 30 minutes from my house in Longmont, CO. The designed is Left Handed Designs and they do not sell from their site but outsource locally I suppose. Anyway I thought it was a good way to keep everyone happy. As for those dopey giant boxes for a small article , hahahaha, I should ask Nick since he worked at a warehouse. I have had several items arrived in larger boxes but maybe they are are not as easy to lose? Their service is pretty remarkable. Let me know how Macie is faring. Sweet girl!
