Happy Sunday! Today I'm ...
Smiling
Do you ever consult your smart phone, hoping to get the name of a certain song or artist? For the life of me I couldn't remember Buffalo Springfield.
So I spoke slowly and carefully what I thought was a lyric from "For What It's Worth":
"What's going on?", I spoke into the microphone.
Then:
"Just searching for answers to life's big and small questions."
(*Smarty-pants*)
Grateful
That the runaway horse dog that fell in love with Tom was reunited with his humans.
Oh my word, y'all! When I went to carry our trash to the curb I heard cars honking and looked up to see this giant dog running straight at me. We put him in the backyard with water, but it soon grew too hot to leave him there. Our girls were not a bit happy about the interloper; in fact, Macie kept snarling. Poor 'big boy' just stood there like, "What? Was it something I said?"
He drank a gallon of water and several bowls of dog food. Then - uninvited - he climbed on the couch with Tom and fell sound asleep.
Meanwhile I was frantically posting notices and phoning vets. In the end, his owner showed up at the vet's at the same time we did! Here we were concerned Zeus been out, running great distances all night … and she lives only a few houses away!
Pondering
My new job.
The little jury that lives in my head is still out.

| The cemetery dates back to 1901; more than 45,000 souls are there! |
On the plus side, almost everyone is really nice. My first day the bosses took me to a Japanese steakhouse for lunch
… and Friday someone brought a cake.
Why, yes I did. Every stinkin' bite! :)
But it's so much more -- legal paper-wise -- than I imaged.
Near the end of Day #1 I thought my head was going to explode. I'm not going to cry 'uncle' yet. I keep telling myself it will all make sense in a couple of weeks. Surely I can't be as stupid as I feel?
A Final Thought
… and that's what's going on. Stay safe out there!
Hugs, Myra

a lot going on and so glad to see Zeus on the sofa, he is the size of a sofa and I want to hug him.. wonder what a ticket to AL cost? ha ha… if I were working in that beautiful cemetery, I would be out on my break or lunch snapping photos like a MADsnapper... just looking at the photo made me want to take pics of that tree. I bet in 2 weeks you will be wondering why you ever thought it was hard to learn. be careful of the food, when I started at Gevity in 93 I weighed 148 and 13 years later I weighed 230 when I left. it has taken 3 years to drop that weight. everyone brought cake and pies an donuts and the bosess paid us with candy bars and trips to Olive Garden. food for hard work and there I sat like a lump in front of the computer eating while I typed. JUST SAYIN
ReplyDeleteGood point! I wasn't even hungry … stress eating. If the drought ever breaks, I hope to get better photos.
DeleteWow! That is one beautiful Great Dane! Glad he found his real home! As for the new job... yep, it takes at least two weeks, more like two months, to settle in and feel like you are getting somewhere! Be patient!! Keep us posted! (Stay for the cake!!)
ReplyDeleteMe, too! To be honest, I was a bit skeered of Zeus. He was a perfect gentleman, but way too big for my comfort zone.
DeleteThe photo of Tom and Zeus is adorable - but I can't imagine how much it must cost to feed that pooch! You'd probably need two jobs just to procure enough dog food.
ReplyDeleteAt least your new job seems to be in a quiet, relaxing (?) atmosphere. I love old cemeteries and have haunted many of them.
All jobs seem hopelessly confusing at first. I'm confident that you'll soon get the hang of it.
I don't have a smart phone. The thought of living with a contraption smarter than myself would be too much to endure.
I know, right? I think Tom was harboring fantasies of keeping the dog.
DeleteQuiet? Relaxing? Oh Jon, I wish!
I always found that it takes a few months for a new job to fall into place. That said, a few of them never did. Hope that yours does. Keeping Tom's health and wellbeing in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI LOVE THAT QUOTE AT THE END!
ReplyDeleteMy phone never ever understands me - I get the most odd answers back - I have given up.
Boy that Zeus was a BIG dog - glad you found his owner. He did look comfortable with Tom. lol
Glad I'm not the only one! Hee-hee.
DeleteOh my, Zeus is such a handsome fella! I'd be hoping he comes back to visit now and then.
ReplyDeleteHang in there with the job. I'm sure it won't seem so overwhelming once you're used to it. You just need time to adjust. At least it sounds like you have NICE bosses!
Thanks for the encouragement, Stacy! Beginnings are apt to be shadowy.
DeleteZeus sure made himself comfortable! He must have "couch" privileges at his home. Glad you guys were able to reunite him with his family! Your job does sound interesting. Every new job I've taken over my career I have hated at the beginning and regretted taking them only to like the majority of them about 3 months down the line, LOL. You'll get the hang of it but if they keep feeding you the way they are, you might need to buy a bigger size pair of pants :)
ReplyDeleteWe laugh at the search results that come up on our phone. Then we are surprised when we google something on it and its a hard thing to say and it gets it the first time around.
betty
Thank you for saying that (about new jobs). I had no idea there was so much 'red tape' surrounding deaths and burials.
DeletePersevere. You will do well at work. Every new job looks daunting at first. You are up to it. They would not have hired you otherwise.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in HR and we recruited people, sometimes we knew they were not fully capable at first to do the job. But we looked for the potential and ability to learn, to adapt, to be willing to try something new. We hired people not yet ready for the job in hand but who developed and grew to their full potential.
You will, in a short time, be good at this new job.
I love your new dog. Bet he was sad to leave you and go back home.
God bless.
Your uplifting message means a great deal, Victor. I'm sincerely appreciative!
DeleteSo glad that giant of a dog was returned to his owners, Myra! I love animals, but that guy is just a bit too much. And I'm sure you'll get the hang of the new job very soon - be patient with yourself. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings, my friend!
Ha! Patience isn't my strong suit … but I'll try!
DeleteAh ha, you made me think of Betty who made it very clear to me how much 'medical' knowledge and language she must know. Now you, I never thought of the requirements of legaleze in some jobs, BUT YOU will manage and 'whup' it.
ReplyDeleteLove the horse that slept with Tom! hahahaha, It did make a great blog note. Love it.
Sherry has the heat on as we prepare to depart the mountains...
To you and TOM, The best,
Sherry & jack
"The horse that slept with Tom' … that's hysterical!
DeleteWish I might trade places with y'all. It's supposed to be 99* today!
Wow that dog must have been so thankful you took him in. So glad he's now with his owner. Glad you have such nice people to work with. That makes a difference for sure. I'm sure you will soon settle in it's just a lot of new things coming at you all at once. The older we get the longer it takes to adapt. Take care and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, you're right. Thank you for empathizing, Ma!
DeleteWow that dog is huge!! So glad you found his family.
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Cathy. Me, too! :)
DeleteI am surfing for answers all the time on my cell phone. I'm so glad the dog was reunited. He is a small pony for sure! Sounds like a nice place you're working out. Give it three months.
ReplyDeleteHeck of a dog! Can you have him over for a play date?
ReplyDelete❤️
ReplyDeleteBlessings.
ReplyDeletezeus is a sweetheart. Leo is part Mastiff. He is much smaller, barbely 95 lbs. He keeps that figure slim and trim but cavoting through the backyard all day long. Although I make him come in when it is super hot or cold. He is quite stubborn. Jobs are hard to get settled in because of the work load. But you are smart and do not ever sell yourself short! Zeus looked like she belonged to Tom. Love at first sight. Sweetness HUGS
