As of today, we're still waiting to hear from the cardiologist about Step #2. Tom was actually in good spirits after the stress test. As a matter of fact, after the first part they gave him a meal voucher with instructions to have a 'fatty breakfast of eggs and bacon.'
Later that afternoon, however, they called to say the results were 'abnormal' and further tests are in order; probably with a stint being placed. Now, my normally stoic hubby's convinced it's going to be Bad.News. (Me: "Did the doctor actually say that? Him: Well, no. But... ")
Oh man. What a case of, "Man plans ... God laughs"! Tom's 15 y/o grandson is supposed to fly out here in a few weeks to help g'pa finish work on the boat and take to the lake. Of course, that plane ticket is 'non-refundable.' And my new job? My 'what-iffer' is going crazy.
Little to do but sit back and leave matters in God's hands. Que sera, sera!

On the Bright Side!
We went to see that splendid movie, Overcomer, yesterday afternoon. If you've an opportunity to see it -- in the theatre or later, on-demand -- I doubt you'll be disappointed. Even Tom, who struggles to stay awake, claims he saw 99%.
Near the end almost everyone in the theater began applauding!

We haven't been to the movie in a couple years, and now I'm not in a hurry to ever go back. Each Tuesday tickets are only $5 … but our bill came to $38.97! A bag of popcorn was $9.85, but if you coupled it with a drink it was 'only' $9. I should do the math to see what Tom gave for his small cheese pizza and Coke. Crazy!

I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and invest in a pair of prescription glasses. While I was rushing to get ready Monday morning, I didn't realize my right contact lens had torn. It felt scratchy all day, like I had a 'winkie' in there. Has that ever happened to you?
I was able to retrieve 3/4's of the lens, but suspect some fragments might still be remaining. After we drop Macie and Grace at the groomers tomorrow morning, I'll stop by my optometrist's office and see if he won't do a look-see. I may be getting older, but I'm sure not growing smarter. Ha!

DeleteThe fact that they aren't rushing Tom into the hospital for emergency treatment is a good thing, LOL. That doesn't mean "bad" news; it just means its just emergent, urgent, semi urgent at least at this time so Tom should just sit back and try to relax (easier said than done). I have heard of that movie; will wait to see it on Red Box or Prime or other means. Wow amazing how much the "snacks" are in the movie theater (don't get me started with the price of water, LOL). I think that is why they have the tickets so inexpensive. It lulls you into buying more snacks.
ReplyDeleteI'm not looking for murderers in the shower, LOL, I'm looking for snakes in the bathroom. Ever since someone posted on the Prescott Facebook page of finding snakes in their houses, even though I'm far away from Prescott and in a pretty stable area without the possibility of snakes (hopefully) I still go into the bathroom and look around for anything that doesn't seem "natural" to be there.
Good luck with your contact lenses. Good to get it checked out with your optometrist; better safe than sorry!

It's a big joke around here that I always turn on the light in the night and check the toilet for snakes...then there was that place in Texas a couple of years ago where there was a rattle snake in the toilet and when the plumber came he got like 20+ more out of there! Definitley check. 'Cause that one time you don't....

ReplyDeletetell Tom having a stint put in is almost nothing, it is out patient, go home same day and the only thing required is can't lift anything heavy for a short time. bob had his stint put in with out anything at all, he watched it on the TV screen. I would not do that myself though. he was back to normal as soon as he left the hospital. I think he was back swimming in a week, but not sure. of course your fretter what iffer is in gear, mine does the same thing. I nearly fainted at the cost of going to the movie.
I always wait 'til Tom's home before taking my shower. :)

DeleteI have a love/hate relationship with the one contact I presently wear as the other eye has had successful cataract surgery. Just changed it out this morning! I've heard nothing but good things about that movie, but because of the cost, we're waiting until it becomes available at Red Box. Know I'm praying for Tom and his health!

DeleteSorry about the tests, but having a stint put in is small in the manner of things, Just be thankful the problem was caught before worse things happened. We all make plans, but never know what might happen. You are right to hold off on any decisions for a while. I've never worn contacts, but do need new glasses. It's on my list of things to do. But they are very expensive so I'm on hold for now. Just take it one day at a time and all will be fine.

DeleteI understand the what if's. My husband was having shortness of breathe. I convinced him to see my cardiologist. They did a stress test in the office and it didn't show much but they decided to do an angiogram. He had two blockages and one was 90% blocked! They were able to do that one and he is going back for the one that is 65% blocked. The 90% was a cholesterol blockage, this one is a calcium blockage so it needs a little more work done to it. However the next day after the first one he felt great. Tom will do great and I will be praying for him.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing that movie. Our theater has $5 everyday for seniors. Since we go often I have a card that they scan so we get free popcorn often or a free drink.

DeleteOne of my writing pals... the one whose book I'm currently editing... now has eight stents! Bless her heart, (literally!)she feels sooooo much better now. I'm sure Tom will feel like a "new man" if he has it done. My hubby's going through some scary medical stuff, too, right now. Cancer on multiple fronts. We're taking it one day at a time and doing our best to stay positive.

Medical stuff is scary! You and Tom are always in our prayers. We went through such an ordeal with the hubby and his asthma, had to see a specialist to find out that is his problem. I remember a friend of mine telling me about her FIL. He saw a special on TV and went in for his annual physical. Told his doc he chuckled and said if you want to throw your money away sure I will get you a referral. He had a full blockage and that TV special saved his life. All doctors are not always the brightest in the bunch, I worked with them, 32 years!I am never afraid to speak up or out! Tom is such a hard working man, I am thinking everything will workout beautifully. HUGS and LOVE
