Well, OK. That was yesterday.
But we cheese lovers think the whole dog-gone week should be set aside to honor its goodness.

What's your favorite cheese? Which one is always in your fridge?
My favorite is Bellavitano -- but owing to its price, it's not a fixture. That honor goes to cheddar or provolone.
What is your preference? Mild, Sharp or Extra Sharp? How do you use cheese most often?
Extra Sharp, please.
At least 5 days each week I prepare some kind of eggs w/ cheese.
Cheesecake? New York style or what other flavors would you rather have?
My absolute favorite is the Cheesecake Factory's white chocolate, caramel, macadamia nut.
Since there are no CF's nearby, I've learned to love Publix's New York style.
When you do grilled cheese sandwiches, which cheese do you prefer to use and what condiments do you use, if any?
Sorry, I'm not particularly fond of grilled cheese.
I did, however, have occasion to sample something wonderful a couple of years ago.
Served on white sourdough, it contained grated Parmesan, Bourbon Bellavitano, roasted red pepper, salami and fresh-leaf spinach.

When Stacy solved the mystery of my 'chicken scissors', it jiggled something in my subconscious. I put on a pot of hot water and went running for my egg cup.

Finally! Because I firmly believe in the old line, "Leave 'em laughing when you go."
An excerpt from our Bible study book .....… where the author recounts her colonoscopy: "When everything is all set, they put you to sleep to do the actual procedure. But on very rare occasions that patient's fear or metabolism or absolute desire to be in control or something else crazy causes the patient's body to override the anesthesia, and they wake up during the procedure. Let's not psychoanalyze all that, because I am one of those people. I woke up. Now, of course, I don't remember waking up and didn't know I had woken up in the middle of the situation until my doctor told me the next day. That was a fun conversation. I turned all the shades of red as I slowly realized the doctor now has a new favorite story to tell. Supposedly, I raised my hand and said, "Excuse me, excuse me, but this isn't working for me. I'm in a bit of pain and discomfort, and I must go now. And then I jumped off the table, grabbed at the air as if picking up my purse and said, "Goodbye." The doctor calmly replied, "Well, Lysa, you might want me to remove the tube from your backside before you go. So, let's just get you back on the table for a few minutes." Can y'all just imagine? I was dying. Keep smiling, my friends … be safe!

two cheeses that are always in the fridge, baby bel orginal and seriously sharp white cheddar. I love all cheese but those are the staples..the sharper the better for me.
ReplyDeleteI can hardly eat a boiled egg, it has to be HARD so these scissors would not be for me. but they are relly cool and new to me
the best laugh of all, is her being embarrassed she is the new story to tell in her Doctors life... never heard of anyone waking up during, much less getting up. but then maybe they did not share their story. I am smiling as I leave..hugs back to you. I can only eat eggs if they have cheese, lots of cheese. I like fiesta grated in my scrambled eggs. I was raised on grill cheese sandwiches and so were my boys and white bread slathered with margine and FAKE processed cheese is my favorite. it might kill me but I will die happy. mother made it out of Govt. Cheese, the kind they give 5 pound blocks of away to the poor. no real cheese for us.
I'd be far too embarrassed to share something like that -- or ever face that doctor again! I'm going to look for the sharp white; now I'm growing hungry.
DeleteIt looks like the scissors worked pretty well even on the larger egg. I would have no use for those. Ever. My dad liked soft boiled eggs and we had them once a week or so. I hated them then and still do. I find them totally gross!

ReplyDeleteOf course the colonoscopy story is great! Most folks cannot believe I have never had the pleasure, and my doctor gets irate when I refuse! I love it. He is a friend, although I only see him in his office. I tell him, Look, I take no meds and I have out lived you!
Love it! I don't recall that even being a 'thang' in the 50's and 60's.
DeleteNo way could I eat an egg like that!! Eggs must be scrambled or in an omelette for me. Maybe a hard boiled deviled egg. Are you seriously telling me you jumped off the table???? Or did your funny doctor make that up?? My husband was one of the ones who woke up during the procedure.

DeleteI like Emmental cheese. Emmental has walnut-sized holes. It is considered to be one of the most difficult cheeses to be produced because of it's complicated hole-forming fermentation process. The problem is that when I buy it they weigh the holes as well as the cheese. That's not fair, I think. Best way to buy it is in slices; that way the weight of the holes are not added to the overall weight of what you buy.

ReplyDeleteIt's probably no surprise that I've been a very cheesy person my entire life. I love all types of cheese and -yes - the cheddar especially has to be extra sharp. There are far too many choices to pick a favorite.
I do like grilled cheese sandwiches, but the cheese has to be a good quality American or Swiss - with equally good bread. I sometimes add ham or bacon for extra flavor.
What I really HATE with a passion is so-called "processed cheese food". Tastes worse than plastic.
Truth! I do miss having a big selection of cheese at our local market.
DeleteWe eat a lot of cheeses. Neither of us likes bleu cheese or those high-brow goat-milk cheeses that smell like dirty feet. Ever try horseradish cheddar? It's reeeeally good on a sandwich. Last thing I prepared with cheese was this morning's scrambled eggs, but I bought some cream cheese at the grocery store, so I can make a cheesecake tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThat gizmo for cutting off the top of a soft-boiled egg is really cool! It's been a long time since I've eaten an egg in a cup like that, but we used to just kinda whack the top off with a knife. Your gizmo is way cooler.
Grilled cheese sandwiches? YES! With good quality cheese...for me. My hubby only wants Velveeta. (YUK!)
That colonoscopy story is a hoot. Kinda hard to believe, though...
I've not seen it, but horseradish cheddar sounds SO good! My g'ma passed in 1960, so no telling how old my gizmo is!

DeleteThat was a hilarious story about the colonoscopy but not for the patient :) That's one of my fears if I have surgery that I won't be completely under but won't be able to signal to the doctors that I'm not.
ReplyDeleteI love cheese! We just returned from Southern California for a few days and ate pretty nicely (and back on the wagon tomorrow). Favorite thing we ate was thin fried potato chips sprinkled with Gorgonzola cheese. May I say delicious??? They were so good. Then last night had a meal with goat cheese on it. Again too delicious. Worth every calorie and then some!
Interesting with the "chicken scissors". My mom just used a knife to chop the top of.

DeleteOkay I have never heard of Bellavitano Cheese. No matter I love all cheese - sliced - grated - white - yellow - sharp - mild. And the Cheesecake Factory - go once and have their hot fudge sundae - you will never be the same again. sandie

DeleteLOL- On the colonoscopy. I was semi-conscious during the procedure and felt a 'thump' is the best I can describe it. They had removed a polyp. I told them later and they assured me I was completely under until I told them what they were talking about--which had nothing to do with the procedure. lol

DeleteWe are cheesy people we love it all! The hubby and his middle daughter love bleu! If I have to choose simply it is cheddar or provolone. Hannah , like me, loves brie. We use sharp cheddar in our potato cheese soup. The story hahaha! Oh My Goodness!I recently mastered basting an egg and love them that way. when we go out I eat over medium eggs and the hubby loves cheesy scrambled. Aside from the frogs my sister thinks she and I are related to I wonder if mice are in our heritage too? Jerry that little rascal from the cartoon Tom and Jerry! LOL LOL LOL
