It's National Croissant Day!
Why not stop by the bakery for a fresh, warm croissant, or even try making your own!

Otherwise … let's play the Medley!
* * *
Terri says she loves croissants when they are fresh -- but day-old croissants need to be turned into a donut. She happens to really like those that have a donut-like glaze on them. Sugar overload, but so good! She asks, do you like croissants? What is your favorite way to eat them?
Not particularly. Maybe because I enjoy savory foods, I find croissants to be bland, uninteresting. Could be, I'm doing it all wrong … I'm open to suggestions!
Speaking of food … how do you handle stress?
Yes, I'm an emotional eater. The first thing that popped in my mind was a big ole porterhouse steak I can grind and gnash.
Out of the negative emotions of greed, anger, jealousy and hate, which one would you say affects you the most?
While they all jostle for popularity out on Facebook - even the evening news - I'd say hate. It's increasingly difficult to contain my fear and anger when I witness the depravity and venom which exists in today's world.
Out of the positive emotions of compassion, positivity, enthusiasm and initiative, which one is your biggest strength?
With a little help from my friends (*wink*), I'm going with positivity. There is always something for which to be grateful.
What do you get every time you go grocery shopping, other than the staples such as bread, milk, butter, flour, sugar …
Sharp cheddar, eggs, ground chuck (aka, loose meat), Cabernet. Color me, predictable!
Please tell us something random about your week so far.
Well, darn. I was hoping to share a picture of this morning's falling snow, but it just didn't happen. One of our meteorologist's Facebook posts cracked me up!
I did, however, score pretty darn well at an estate sale yesterday!
So ironic. I've never given a rat's *** mind to designer labels or piles of clothes. No lie. Including my mud boots, I own 5 pair of shoes and 2 pair of serviceable slacks. I've never been bitten by the retail therapy bug … but neither can I resist a bargain!
Only $8 for this cozy sweater!
and!
$6, 50-cents for this suit ... new with tags!
(I gasped when I returned home and read the tag carefully! Suppose I should try and sell it out on ThredUp?)
I'm not excited to bid Tom's adieu for a few days' vacay, but I'm thrilled to welcome Debbie on Thursday! (Our favorite sport is eating out!) I'm going to do my best to keep in touch with everyone, but it may be sporadic.
Please have yourselves a great rest of the week … and don't forget to tread safely!
Hugs,
Myra

Sweet scores at the estate sale! You know you are speaking my language. If I thought I could make a go of it, I'd search for bargains full time and stop a shop with the finds, but with so many already doing that...I guess it's just personal bargain hunting for me.
ReplyDeleteRetail prices are so insane, no wonder thrifting has caught on. Still I'm puzzled how some folks bring home perfectly lovely clothes and never wear them. She must have had a dozen outfits with tags still attached.
Deletedouble wow on the sweatr and suit, both are beautiful as is the price you paid. my shopping list is the same as yours, minus the wine. and no sugar either. I buy the same things week after week.. all those negative emotions are rampant these days, and bob and I talk about the ANGER that is everywhere, angry hostile people in stores and on roads.. initiative is my biggest strength. if you put a crossaint and a steak on the table and said I could have only one my my lunch, the croissant would be my choice. bread of any kind is always my choice. biscuits, cornbread, loaf bread.
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving me the steak! :) You and my late mother! How she'd delight in fresh bread. My only (bread) Achilles Heel is McDonald's biscuits.
DeleteGreat bargains!! I can't understand people who break about how much they spend. But maybe that's because my parents were kids during the Great Depression. Have a great rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteYa. I used to work for such a person; the most materialistic woman I've ever known. I suspect she owns every bag Coach manufacturers … and makes sure everyone knows. Sad.
DeleteMy favorite way to eat a croissant is a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg and cheese. I put it in my blog today. I have never tried my own, but love a tin of refrigerated crescent roll. Yes anger and hate are two of the worst emotions and I do try to keep positive. When you are a thankful person there is no room for hate or anger... Great job on you bargain shopping ! I only buy things now if they are on sale. Have fun with your friend and keep in touch when you can !
ReplyDeleteHugs,
'ma'
I'm so taken with the recipe you shared using the crescent roll! Thank you for being such a pivotal influence along my journey to positivity!
DeleteWow, Mevely, you sure do know how to find a great deal! I don't care for designer clothes either, and am quick to shop at a thrift store if I am looking for something like a sweater or a dress. I'm most comfortable in my daily uniform of jeans and T-shirts in the summer. Yes, I'm cheap!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Cheap works for me, too, Martha! My daily uniform is an oversize hoodie and leggings. Have a great day!
DeleteA good way to handle croissants is with a catapult. You let them fly into the neighbour's garden for the birds to feed there; and not come over to your garden and poop all over your car.
ReplyDeleteWhy are they crescent shaped anyway? Why not straight, or circular, or better still; left in the shop!
God bless.
What a splendid suggestion, Victor! This just made my day!
DeleteGreat finds on your clothes! I am not into name brands either. It must be comfortable and not cost much for me to buy it. I also hate shopping, so when I do actually get out I pray I find things. Loved your answers! Have a great day!

Thanks, Lori! Like you, I loathe going 'out' to shop. So spoiled by all the on-line options we have at our fingertips!
DeleteDropping in for the fun read, my visits are always fun and I am entertained by your neat answers. Croissants, you sound like Sherry!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely SMART shopping
Love from my antique laptop. LOL
I always suspected that Sherry's a sharp cookie! :) Thank you for being such a faithful encourager!
DeleteLove what your weatherman had to say. We only live a few blocks from Dairy Queen, oh so tempting!!
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed! I always looked forward to stopping at the one outside Abilene for a DQ Dude. Imagine my dismay, when living in Arizona I discovered they no longer offered those.
DeleteI like croissants used as a sandwich. I love to find a good bargain on clothes. I say, "dont sell it. Wear it". I think it will look great on you.
ReplyDeleteLisa
Thank you for your advice, Lisa ... I will!
DeleteGreat.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThanks for joining the Medley today, Myra! I giggled through your answers! You can have your Porterhouse and I'll tackle some pasta with shrimp! LOL Love your sweater and that suit is amazing! I love good bargains like those!! Yippee!
ReplyDeleteLet's look forward to that dinner, Terri!
DeleteGreat bargains with the sweater and suit! I'd be tempted to see what you could get for the suit, might be some good pocket money! So true that croissants lose their flavor and flakiness a day old. They can be good with sandwiches with avocados on them, just saying :)
ReplyDeletebetty
The avocados sound amazing. Thanks, Betty!
DeleteYou look good in red Myra.
ReplyDeleteR
