Maybe I've too much time on my hands ..... or maybe, I'm a Daydream Believer. (Fantasy can sometimes trump real life, ya know?)
Anyway! I've always been curious about others' chosen professions. What's it really like behind closed doors.
For some unknown reason, I've begun getting these reels on Facebook -- one man's channel devoted solely to his life as a (ground-handling) aircraft marshall.
Like many things, "Aircraft Paul" job looks easy-peasy. I'd like to try my hand at that! (hahaha)
Granted, he's a bit cocky -- but entertaining just the same.
Okay, then. Apologies to anyone not on social media. In spite of being terrified of flying -- or maybe because of it -- I've been hooked on something called Aviationmp4 -- real ATC audios' original content (edited).
I'm guessing theirs is one of the most stressful positions in the history of Ever ... yet 99% of these reels have me giggling uncontrollably. Who'd have thought controllers had such great senses of humor?
Several recordings capture when a pilot accidentally talks to ATC instead of his passengers. And then there's this "uh-oh" captured on March 8:
What have you watched lately that made you laugh out loud? I think that's so much better than sitting and scowling at the 6 o'clock news.

I always think its interesting how people get into their jobs. I think most aren't in the career they set out to be in.

My son served on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, often called the most dangerous airport in the world. He received hazardous duty pay—oh, what a relief! (Not!)—so during his two deployments to the Persian Gulf, I was constantly on edge. Then, after he was out, he told me of the many close calls and the fatal accidents -
And my first husband worked at the SFO ground crew - starting out fueling the big jets and having to hold this thing called a deadman? Lol. The names of these things.

DeleteThat is too funny, Myra! I don't know how those guys could do their stressful jobs without having a sense of humor. I crave getting my daily dose of laughter here at the Orlando Compound. Just Sunday, Danny and I watched a Jeff Foxworthy special on Fox Nation - needless to say, it was hilarious! Laughter is, hands down, the best medicine. Have a great week!

DeleteI quit watching the news years ago, actually! I have fallen in love with "Muddy" who is the star of a YouTube channel about rennovating an OLD English cottage. Muddy is their dog and he is hilarious! Go to YouTube and look for Jacob Harrell. They've been rennovating for a couple of years and are now expecting their first child. I find them, the dog, and the process very entertaining. Happy days!! xo

Deletethecontemplativecat here. I have some reels that I enjoy. I like one that shows the frustration of women riding with their husbands, and he hates when she tells him when to turn. So she never tells him that he missed the turn out three miles bsck.
