Sweet song, but no, I've no desire to leave my happy place. Right here. It's too stinkin' hot! Yes, I say a little prayer each time I pass by the thermostat.
I'd great intentions to post yesterday evening, then was accidentally sucked into watching the Alabama State Games - "an Olympic style multi-sport event bringing together athletes of all ages and skills."
So why, then, were my cheeks wet watching last night's Opening Ceremonies. Oh y'all. When I see these 'athletes' marching and waving American flags it liked to do me in ... everyone standing and singing "Proud to be an American" ... reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. I wish you could have joined me.
7 days have passed, but I'm still glowing after spending a sweet afternoon with Troy, Lois and my favorite baby girl.
Mesmerized by some children's show on television, 'P' had little interest in visiting. That didn't stop me from taking pictures. Am I a little biased? You bet-cha!
What else?
I'm an agenda-driven person, reluctant to change my habits.
Then I remember one of my Bible-study friend's advice, "You've got to break that bridge."
Day #1 -- instead of carrying my coffee here to the office, I left my phone sitting on the counter and marched to the "thinking bench" out front. Shortly after dawn, the air still feels fresh. There's little traffic, aside from the neighbors walking their dogs.
Me, myself and Mr. God.
Cross fingers and weather willing, I pray this becomes a habit!
I pray you, and you (and you over there!) are doing wonderfully. You're a habit I don't want to break!

DeleteOld habits die hard... and I hope this one with my blogging friends keeps on going!! I am enjoying my NEW habit of walking the neighborhood with my neighbor friends most every morning (except Sunday, when we all go to our separate churches). Early mornings are refreshing, especially for the soul!! Love you, and loved seeing your sweet little "P"!! xo

Those patriotic songs and parades and especially the kiddos brings tears to my eyes too. It also give me a big pang in my heart when I see such disrespect and hatred spewing out over everything. I have to keep telling myself that God is in control and He's the "winner" at the End of the Story.

DeleteBlogging is a great habit and I do miss it. we are living in the sahara desert in our yard, the tree is gone, no shade, temps at feels like 99 and up, humidity that is so high I feel wet when I go out.

DeleteOh how difficult habits become...I have several that I need to break...One major habit that needs to be shredded around here is Dr.Pepper's!! It's a must that I quit drinking them.. It is HOT and HUMID around here. I mean....when you don't even won't to get in the pool due to the humidity in the air...that is just wrong. I live best when the temps stay in the lower 70's. Glad you have been able to spend time with your precious grand. Oh how they can fill us with so such joy!! Your haircut is adorable...if only I could wear my hair short...I would do it in a heartbeat if my face wasn't so round. lol...

I LOVE your haircut and you look fabulous! So whatever you did, keep doing it! I loved this post, and that sweet "P" has quite the personality, I can see! She is adorable! And growing up so fast! My goodness! I thought she was supposed to still be a baby! Why do they grow up so fast??? And sitting out on the porch bench with God in the morning is a great way to start the day. Here I would probably melt or be bitten to death with the mosquitoes, but I do try to get out as often as I can. We did take a walk this morning, and that was lovely. And I went out to check my blueberry bush and found enough ripe ones to put on my yogurt and granola for breakfast! That was a blessing. And yes, seeing local folks showing patriotism and team spirit , etc. is always inspiring. I love small town excitement. (or small state, or county, whatever it is. I love seeing our nation come together to celebrate too!!) Have a blessed rest of your week.
