Hello Hodgepodge!

Thank you, Joyce!
... and thank all y'all for stopping by.  It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

What's an adult problem nobody prepared you for?

Gosh, there's so many.  How differently I'd have answered this at 25, 35 ... 60, even.

Today -- having lived my lion's share of years, I'm going to say Time.  What a slippery-slope ..... often accompanied by Melancholy.

This.

How tuned in are you to all the recent food-related health news?  Have you gotten rid of your scratched cookware?  Did you pay attention to food additives before they made the news?

No, no and no

What's one healthy eating/cooking/food shopping habit you need to adopt?

Make an effort to find more locally-sourced fresh veggies.  Instead of my preferred 90/10 ratio (protein to greens), I might strive for 50/50.
As much as I adore red meat?  Grains and fruit haven't a place at my table ... just keeping it real.

What's getting worse and worse as you get older?

My lower back.
This seems to help. Thank you, Sandra!

How about better and better?

My attitude.

Are you more of an indoor person or an outdoor person?

I can scarcely recall the time (when) I'd rather be outside.

If you had an expert personal assistant today, what would you have them do?

Research and list (on eBay) the many things taking up space around here.  Sentimentality's one thing, but I doubt my granddaughters have any interest.

Insert your own random thought here.

... and my personal favorite, known to few.

Hugs, Myra

  1. Oh, I hear you on all of the above. Time especially...where did it go? No, we can't go back, and even if we did, it wouldn't be the same. We are older and wiser now, and not as naive. We wouldn't be able to enjoy things the way they were because we'd be trying to fix things. Oh, I also ordered the three wisemen balm, and I am using it for a variety of things. #1, it removed the callouses on my feet OVERNIGHT! I was in shock over that one! Yes, Thanks Sandra! She should get a commission! LOL. Regarding the "stuff" that we should get rid of...I know my kids don't want it either, but I'm still going to let them figure that out. I don't have the time or energy to deal with it now, so I'm just going to enjoy my "treasures" and let the kids do whatever they want later. LOL. Have a lovely day.

  2. Hello, I liked your #1 ... so true for me as well.
    Happy Hodgepodge!

  3. Oh wow! That is so true about time. There are so many moments in time I would like to go back to and enjoy again.
I could do with someone to list things on eBay for me. I have so many things that I keep meaning to sell but never get around to.

  4. That hit home. I chuckled at your protein-to-greens ratio (so real!), and I’m totally with you on needing help listing stuff online.

Also, hooray for better attitudes with age that’s the kind of wisdom I admire most!

  5. That legacy quote is spot on. So true. Also, your favourite about life. My quote which I use often: These are the good times. I know it sounds pessimistic but as we go forward as a world we seem to be making life more difficult for us and everyone else. Let's compare the times of our youths to today ... they may have been difficult, but in many ways they were better than today.

Sorry to be in a pessimistic (realistic) mood right now.

    God bless, Mevely.

    1. Not necessarily pessimistic, my friend. Food for thought!

  6. Your first meme is so poignantly true, Myra. We really "can't go home again." But, we can always live with gratitude that those times/places were a big part of our lives. Blessings!

  8. I mentioned time as well. Time is a big thing as we age...

Ah, healthy foods! I eat healthily and have never been a big fan of junk food. I don’t consume a lot of sugar, as I naturally don’t have much of a sweet tooth. I don’t buy chips or snack foods either. For me, snacking means eating fruit or a slice of cheese. I don’t eat much fruit these days, so I rarely snack. When I do want a snack, I have to bake or make it myself, and nine times out of ten, I lose interest. I absolutely love real ice cream. It’s my favorite snack year-round.

I could live outdoors in a cooler climate. During hot summers, you’ll find me inside, wishing to be outside.

    Good answers.

    1. Like you, I've never had much of a sweet tooth. Salt, on the other hand is my Achilles heel.

  9. When I was a kid I was definitely an outdoor person. Now I'm more than happy in our apartment, thank you. :)

  10. Time is on the top of my list too. Being 81 1/2 haha I must get that half in there, Its the last years of my life staring me in the face. Not being sad about it but the reality is more prevalent than ever. The quote about legacy is so true. Its not about stuff, its about people and our loved ones. I like Pam's comment about just going to enjoy her "treasures" and let her kids figure the rest out..YES and Amen!

    1. Good idea, getting that "one-half" in there! Remember when we were 4 or 5, and that "half" was so important?

  11. Time is always elusive, but it becomes much more precious as we grow older. I deeply regret the time I've wasted.
I have no concern about what I eat - - but I'm careful about sodium.
What's getting worse as I get older? EVERYTHING!
I love nature, but I'm basically an indoor person.

  12. Time - yes! It goes so quickly!! All three of your memes hit home today.

  13. Yes time moves at a different pace depending on the season we're in. As a kid we wanted it to hurry up. As an adult we need it to slow down just a little. As I've gotten older I can see how there was a lot of time wasted and we can't get that back. I think we're more mindful of it's passing in the later years, so perhaps more intentional in how we spend it. At least I hope so! Have a great day!

  16. Ahhhh, I have missed this of your posts.. I always love your answers and wish I could come up with some. But the one I expected at retirement was peace and quiet and being thrilled at the lives of our family members. The one thing I was not ready for was the mistakes and failings that naturally come like it or not.
Love you and the guy from Chicago!

  17. I love, love , love your memes and answers.
First on Shiplog - you wrote - "I'm not pointing fingers but of late I can't escape the feeling the 'younger generation' simply tolerates us. Their condescending attitudes, barely disguised.
Someday if they're blessed to grow old, maybe they'll regret. Or not. That's okay; we know who we are." I agree 100%

Time - love the meme and copied it.
    Fresh locally sourced veggies.
    Does Wisemen really work?
I too am an inside person.
    Love, sandie

  18. Maybe it's a good thing I had such a crappy childhood because I don't dwell on the past. I'd as soon forget it, if you know what I mean. I'm happy NOW. There's much more joy in my life currently that what it was like before ... for me. Only the world is yuckier, but, hey, 'the world' has always had it's up and downs. I read a lot of Medieval History and I'm glad I didn't have to go through all THAT! Talk about a hard life! Oi!
I almost bought some of the Wiseman that Sandra recommended. That's for saying it is worth the purchase. So glad it works. I do have it in my "Buy Later" pile at Amazon. Might slide it on over to Order next time I'm there.
    Blessings. ❤️
