What a night!!! I'm sitting here feeling like we dodged a bullet, but I know it was God's hand protecting us from the severe weather. In spite of my best intention, I dozed off on the love seat -- only to be jolted awake by a bang (thunder) that shook the house. Finally got up a little after 4 and went to bed, then Troy and Lois phoned a little after daybreak to check on us.
Man, these olden hips aren't made for making like a pretzel. After a long hot shower and liberal applications of Voltaran, I'm ready to face this beautiful new day. (All sunshiny and cute, like it didn't just try and kill us a few hours ago, lol.)
Still nursing my third cup of coffee, I'm feeling ...
Determined --
To clean up and clean out my computer. For a lady of leisure (ha!) I've an embarrassing amount of e-mails and forgotten documents needing addressed. A Will that needs amended, sooner rather than later.
Cautiously optimistic --
That Tom will agree to sit down and help me decide what $ projects need started ... or simply shelved. So funny -- when I broached the subject over lunch yesterday, he looked like I'd begun speaking in pig Latin: "What projects?" (Then, "Oh, yeah.")
Disappointed --
That what I thought would be someone's perfect Christmas gift didn't arrive until the day after. In spite of ordering the first of day of December -- and paying for expedited shipping, no less. Lesson learned about ordering via FB and not looking to see where it was coming from. (China) Oh well, she's a birthday coming up later this year.
Loving --
My new Max Lucado 365-Day Devotional.
Do you know Max? I love his relaxed approach to imparting lessons -- no guilt. Or feeling I need to sit up a little straighter. If you've a few minutes, here's a sample.
Pondering --
Spending out-of-pocket for the Galleri blood test. Because it hasn't yet been approved by the FDA, most insurance companies don't cover the cost. Then again, I ask myself what's the cost of peace of mind? I'm curious -- grateful, too -- to know if anyone knows someone who's done this. Is this something you'd consider?
Whoa, I can't believe it's already going on Noon ... the girls are giving me the side eye, and my tummy's curiously empty. That must change!
I hope y'all enjoy a blessed day ... chat soon!
Hugs, Myra
Praise God you are both safe from the storm. Prayers said for you.
ReplyDeleteI really like those spoons - what a clever idea.
We watch Max Lucado on TV. Also Fr David Jeremiah and Joyce Meyer.
God bless always, Mevely. Happy New Year.
I've not heard of Jeremiah, but will check him out. Happy New Year, Victor!

DeleteIt's 2 pm and I just showered and changed into clean pjs. It is also storming out. Don't even get me going on deliveries. We ordered my new phone from Spectrum this past Thursday, and it was on a 2-day ship--guess what? Now its saying Thursday. Ridiculous...well, it is coming from near Asheville, NC and we all know what happened and still is happening.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a beautiful Sunday my friend.
Thanks, Linda. What kind of phone did you get? Mine's circling the drain.
DeleteThe new Samsung Ultra S 24?? Something like that, if it ever gets here, lol.
DeleteIt is Dr David Jeremiah. Someone has put the F next to the D on my keyboard.
ReplyDeleteHow dare they? 😆
DeleteGlad your weather wasn't as bad as it could have been. My hips are doing terrible. ((Hugs)) to you. So the Voltaran works? Projects are never fun. Sorry about that late Christmas gift. I haven't heard of that blood test. Have a great day and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteLove Voltaran ... Frankincense (essential oil), too.
DeleteMyra, I'm so glad you and your hubby are safe and sound. Pretty scary.
ReplyDeleteLate gifts are so annoying. Hopefully they will come soon.
I haven't heard of this test either and I do enjoy Max Lucado and his simple straight forward way of doing Life.
Sue
I never believed I could live in "tornado alley", but here we are! Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
DeleteI already have a stack of four daily readers, but I've heard so many good things about Max Lucado that it may be worth a look.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy him, Kathy!
DeleteI have fallen too many times myself - I get it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were okay.
We had a bad storm too.
I haven't heard of that test - have no idea how expensive - I bet it is $$$.
Sorry about your late gift - it was cute.
Happy New Year Early!
It's $943 -- not out of the question, but then again, does someone need tested every year like a mammogram? Yikes!

DeleteI don’t worry about my health that much. I’ll be 71 soon and whatever happens I’ll deal with it. For me, I can’t see myself conjuring up issues if healthcare isn’t going to be able to provide a cure. I have a friend who has cancer and she has refused chemo, radiation and surgery and remarkably she is doing well and it’s been a year. She knows the risks. I like her approach. I just don’t want to know unless I’m experiencing symptoms.
ReplyDeleteYes Max Lucado is good. I have a Christmas coffee table book of his, I put out every year.
We had quite the storm that blew through here last night - woke me up and I’m a sound sleeper. Wind was loud and things out side were hitting the house with pounding rain. Then woke up to sunshine! ☀️
I once ordered a custom dress online Amazon for my son’s wedding - when I received it, it was off but it would have cost me double in shipping to mail it back to China! I’m usually pretty careful but anyway I donated this beautiful dress to an organization that gives free dresses to girls for proms so it all worked out. At least you have a birthday gift out of it!
Have a great weekend
How wonderful for your friend! What intrigues me about Galleri is its early detection -- before a cancer can become aggressive and difficult (sometimes impossible) to treat.
DeleteIt is incredible how far medical advancements have come. I am curious to know why the FDA and insurance won't cover it. I have an opinion but will keep it to myself.
DeleteI haven't heard of that blood test, but did check out your link. Keep us posted on your decision. The link didn't mention the cost. With so much cancer in my family (including myself) it is always a worry. Voltaran is a wonder cream, isn't it. I use the Amazon version now because it's not a expensive and has the exact same ingredients. Sending a hug.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Amazon had a like-kind cream, Terri. Thanks for the tip!
DeleteLike I told 'Chatty' (above) the test is $943. Not prohibitive, exactly, unless you have to test each year like a mammogram. I'm going to talk to my Primary before making a decision.
Regarding late deliveries: I've always wondered which came first, the chicken or the egg? So I ordered both from AMAZON. I'll let you know when they arrive!
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
😄
DeleteGlad you guys dodged the bad stuff. You did make me smile, Pig-Latin, I had about forgotten. Hope you get things cleaned out, straightened and FIXED! you want. Love ya
ReplyDeleteIsn't it sad, I never learned Pig-Latin.
DeleteI'm so glad you dodged the worst of that storm! And thanks for telling me about Voltaran. I really enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteThe night was rockin and rollin' and not in a good way. Glad we both dodged the bad stuff!
ReplyDeleteAmen, sista!
DeleteWe had a similar, middle-of-the-night crash of thunder when those storms rolled through a few nights ago. So scary!!! Both of us bolted up from a deep sleep. Glad all of you are safe! And pardon my ignorance, but what is this blood test for that you mentioned? Would love to know if you have the time. Blessings always, Myra!
ReplyDeleteHi Martha! I just sent you an e-mail (PM). Please let me know if you didn't get it.
DeleteI need to clean up my email too. Glad you are safe from the storm. Happy New Year and I hope you have a blessed one.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy!
DeleteI thought it would never stop storming around here over the weekend. So much lightning and RAIN. I'm with you on the ol' tube of Voltaran. This stuff really helps. I need to go through and clean out pictures in my cloud. I take way too many no nonsense photos. Hope you all enjoyed a sweet Christmas season. Happy New Years Eve....
ReplyDeleteIs there such a thing as too many 'non nonsense' photos? LOL! Happy New Year blessings, Shug!
