| A little pollen, anyone? Happy Spring! |
Good morning, and big thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes!
As predicted, Friday was a wet and chilly day. Not so much inside Fat Boys BBQ Ranch, where I enjoyed a favorite salad.
We also took home a slab of hickory-smoked ribs and beef brisket for snick-snacking -- in between readying the house for the flooring installers.
Attending the SLE Rodeo the next day sounded like a good idea -- until we remembered how much needs doing -- plus I'm supposed to keep away from dusty environments for another 2 weeks. Thank goodness for a great eye surgeon; I'm not about to jeopardize my sight!
Whew! My bedroom resembles a church ladies' rummage sale. Together with the sunroom, it's become a repository for all the breakables. I'd no idea when Tom bought that china cabinet off the back of a lady's truck (that) it would hold so much stuff. Oh well, this gives me an opportunity to wash it all. (How in the heck does glassware get dusty in there anyway?)
Yesterday after church, Tom suggested we take a ride to check out the cabin on Lake Jordan we've leased for a few days.
Ironic. Looking back on my FB memories, it was 4 years ago this week we also had to be out of the house while the flooring in the back of house was being installed. The first photo was taken at VRBO rental at Lake Martin.
I wanted to drive by Troy and Lois' (about-to-be) new home -- only 2 miles from the cabin. But dang! The homeowner was in the process of moving out, loading his trailer. I really felt like a cat burglar scoping out my next job.
(*soto voice*) "Quick, keep going. Eyes straight ahead."
Go figure. It was a dead-end street. I doubt he even paid us any mind, but still. Jus' two old folks out for a Sunday drive. (lol)
Busy times ahead! I'm hoping and praying there will be adequate WiFi at the lake to check in with y'all. The weatherman's promised warming temps, but it's still far too chilly to even consider kayaking or paddle-boarding. Macie and Grace would like to have a stroke!
Oh well, it's going to be an experience. The #1 installment in my 52-week challenge of Things I've Never Done Before!

DeleteWhat a fun place for a getaway, Myra! I'm glad for Tom and you to be able to enjoy the time together. And good luck with the new flooring, too. It's always disorienting to have workers invade your space, even when you know it's for the best.

Deletelooks like a great place to be except for the cold part. we are freezing today at 52 going to 65. brrr but going to 80s again for next 9 days. kick back and relax, hope the wifi works, but it might be fun to live without it. If I could, is the question. if that is pulled pork I LOVE IT... I would have slowed down and if they looked friendly stopped and introduced myself...

Not yet ... that was this same week, but 4 years ago. Unfortunately, the pollen (seen hanging) survived the cold.

We should've done that while our floor was being installed, instead of camping out here in our own house in the guest room while they were out there sawing and pounding the new flooring into place. What a mess! Yes, you definitely have the right idea! I wish I'd thought of that, but by the time we paid for the flooring and installation, we were pretty broke! Just relax and enjoy your little mini vacation. Don't worry about wifi, etc. Have some relaxation and fun! We'll still be here when you get back and you can tell us all about it. Be sure to take some pictures. Take care my friend.

DeleteSo you are vacating the house while the floors are installed... the cabin looks and sounds like a great place to get away!! Do keep us posted as you can! Your salad looks yummy! I am hoping for new floors later this year but I won't be able to vacate. Hoping for one room (or two) at a time so I can shuffle things around. Hugs!!

DeleteA few days at the lake, that sounds wonderful!! Mr D and I like to get out and ride, see what's going on in the neighborhood. It's a nice break from things we see everyday.

DeleteSounds like a nice time at the lake. Enjoy! New flooring will be nice once you get all settled in again. I was looking at my curio cabinet. Oh holy moly, the dust. My zillion Precious Moments all need a good bath! I am going to redo two shelves. One has been dedicated to Alastor Avery since his passing in 2019 and now I must add our son0in-law Roger too. Hannah and Jake took the Harley back home with them. Bittersweet, Jake took Noelle for a spin before he loaded the bike on his truck. Now they are in a motel in IL. Flu hit them. Hannah is so furious. Colton and Jacey and their kids were deathly ill. Thanks a lot. They have no sense of "Gee I have the flu let me kill off a dozen or so relatives!" I am going to have a serious talk with him. When he returns from his next road trip for work. When you have sick kids or you are sick STAY HOME! This is comment sense and has nothing to do with what the heck has happened to our world since 2020. If you are not feeling well stay home. I had babysat Shea and she had me trapped under the blanket in the dark. I have doubled up my vitamins and have tried to get extra rest. None of us need the flu coming to join us. Praying hard it passes over us this time but my concern is for Hannah and Jake. still hours to go to get home. Anyway I talk way too much when I am in a tizzy. Have a wonderful time and stay healthy! Happy & well loved.
