Despite today's 80* temp, all this rain called for a big crockpot of chili, so I got busy brewing. Smells divine!

Our Christmas was pleasantly low-key. After candlelight services, we came straight home where I unwrapped my box from Florida. Gal-pal Debbie's presents are usually guaranteed to make me chuckle. Tom, observing me tear the wrappings off a highly scented body-wash-in-a-sponge: "Does she think you stink?"
I swooned over her next package
... almost as cool as the burlap apron from son and DIL!
Pockets ... yay!
Is burlap the same as linen? The tag reads 100% linen, but I still feel a little like Eva Gabor on Green Acres.
Channeling my sweet mother, they also gave me a bottle of my (former) favorite perfume.
I guess, if anyone starts hoarding soap, I'll be all set.
Not realizing that Tom's doctor sent a spinal fusion stimulator, the kids gave him a TENS unit. Our home healthcare nurse assured me, it can be used on (almost) any part of the body.
After re-arranging furniture yesterday I'm ready to give it a test drive.

I intended to post this yesterday, but was sidelined by several power outages and (more) absurd rainfall.
Thankfully, in between drops the new sofa was delivered.
Except, not two hours later Tom discovered a glitch with the auto foot lift. (Does anyone else remember their elders saying, "Just something else to go wrong!")
So glad we opted for the protection plan!
Anyway!
This is already far too wordy.
Time to wrap it up with my Word for 2022.
What I'm lacking -- have for a few years now -- is
Enthusiasm.
'Not sure how this will manifest itself, but I'm ready to take a chance on the possibilities.
Its high time I tell my Cautious.Careful.Color-inside-the-lines self to take a break.
So hard to realize our Flight 2021's nearing its final destination.

DeleteI uttered the words to Bob at 1 pm, how can it be 85 degrees on New Years Eve. It was 85 in back yard and the kitchen was 84. I threatened to turn on the AC. 80's all this past week. cold is coming, I saw it on your screen and on mine. we will only get to 49 but that is cold enough. I can't really complain because the last 8 weeks has been amazing, cool temps at night, one blanket nights and mid 70's high. perfect. but we need rain. ON NO on the sofa, and you can't even say take it back and bring another which is what i would do, but I know yours was the only one availabe. what is wrong with the more expensive furniture gets the more is wrong with it. I have duly noted where to find soap if the pademic robs us of it. I will go to Ginny for TP. she has a whole room full... your joy always springs out of your posts and wraps itself around me. Do you Know Sandee from Chatty Crone, everyone in her family has covid.

DeleteIt's been unseasonably warm this past week here in TN, but your weather is warmer. It's supposed to be 70 degrees tomorrow (New Year's Day) with severe storms (YIKES!).

I like all of your Christmas gifts. The burlap apron is cute - - but I'll admit that I don't know the difference between burlap and linen.
Unfortunately, much of my enthusiasm is gone. The trials and tribulations of life seem to have sapped the positivity from me. Like you, I do have aspirations.
I hope that we can both plod on, despite the obstacles, and fulfill our aspirations in the new year. My very best to you and your family in 2022!
Burlap is heavier and more coarse than linen. I honestly don't think the two fabrics are related.......??

DeleteI love that apron and the fact it has pockets! If my MIL was still alive (she loved aprons) this would have been a hit for her! Don't you hate that you spent all that money for the couch and then not to have it work right? Yep, the protection plan is a necessity these days (and it shouldn't really be, right?) I'd "kill" for an 80 degree day here lol. We don't get back into the 70s (and its only 70 degrees that day) until January 7th. I need warmth, lol. I peeked ahead in the long range forecast and it will be 84 on son's birthday in March. I'm looking forward to that lol :)

DeleteWell, I am DELIGHTED (my word, DELIGHT) with your word, ENTHUSIASM! I noted that you said on your comments on my post that your word was akin to mine. We will both be enthusiastically delighted with everything in 2022!! Even the weather...which is foggy as pea soup here already before 6 a.m., and our current low of 63 is headed for 82 today, and then tomorrow a cool front blows in and by Monday our low will be 47 with a high of 69. Not exactly arctic, but we'll take it, as long as we don't get any terrible storms with it. Praying for people in the path of the storms and those affected by the horrific fire in Colorado. Not a good way to start the New Year. I love your flannel buffalo plaid pants and that burlap/linen apron is delightful! Yes, it has pockets!! Now you must enjoy using it in your kitchen and whip up something very delightful with much enthusiasm!! I am sorry about your sofa, and hope they can take care of it w/o a lot of hassle and delay. DeleteI will trade you or anyone else for some warmer weather! It is 3 here. The frost on the windows is annoying but the sun is desperately trying to fill the sky. I made a crockpot filled with Hearty Cowboy Soup last night. I will eat it weith my sweetheart for the week. Nick wanted Potato Cheese Soup. I said peel those potatoes boy, I will make it for you. I am sorry about the new furniture. It appears it is always something! I know the feeling well. Your word is terrific. I have all the different words I haveseen in my hear now. Noelle made a batch of Minestone Soup. But no beans hahaha. It was a delightful hit! SHe even told her dad to stop by on his way to work at 6:30 yesterday morning and she brought him a nice container of it. I LOVE your apron and all your sweet gifts. Isn;t life fun when you have those who cherish you? I am being sort of a slug. The Golden Girls have been on TV all week on a few different channels. I loves Rose and Sophia. My two favorites.
