Looking through my front door
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!
My favorite tree's in place. But more than half our decorations didn't make it out of the boxes ... I'm okay with that.
Little doubt I'll still go around tweeking this or that, a pillow purposely askew. Tom doesn't get it -- "Why, when no-one's going to see it?" (Note: this is the same fella who can't understand why I insist on making the bed every morning. Ha!)
I finally wrapped up my shopping yesterday. Sadly, the days of baby dolls and adorable nightclothes are gone -- replaced with gift cards or cash. Most of the year I'm uber practical. At Christmas, however? I'm just a tall child.
For instance! A while back I was sitting at Bible study; and, as sometimes happens, my mind began to wander. No, it's not D's designer handbag I'm oogling -- it's Sue fork with the azure gel-like handle. Fascinated, I watch as she spears a plump strawberry.
Cute utensils ... whimsical paperclips ... refrigerator magnets. I'm so there!
Oh, and this!
Had Tom not been waiting out in the car and me with Christmas cards to purchase ...
(* heavy sigh*)
... which brings me around to the little giveaway.

I'm a huge fan of Anita's art and have shared several of my favorites here on the blog before.
Couldn't wait to see her Christmas cards' collection! They're a little pricer than what I had in mind but figured, what the heck. Except. Instead of 3 packs of 6, a few days later I opened the package to discover I'd paid $$$ for 3. THREE 5" x 7" prints.
So, I found a couple nice frames at Hobby Lobby and will give Pastor Janet and my BF for Christmas.

ReplyDeleteI really love your decorated Christmas tree. We've spent the day putting up decorations. Thanking God for another year. Also the lights outside in our front garden.
Why is it lights die out when they have been carefully packed in boxes the previous year? We have three sets that don't work any more.
Next job is to get some Christmas presents.

I'm grateful that 3 years ago Tom insisted on paying a few dollars more for a tree with lights already affixed. How I remember those individual bulbs inexplicably going out, one by one.

DeleteLove the entry and YEP I do know about Card shopping. You girls amaze me. REading all the verses to get just the right card for THAT person. Shame on me, I like the picture or graphic on the front and grab it. LOL NO, not me for the drawing. I have at least two gifts from you and adore them both. My stamp holder is right beside me, I forgot the book, it is beside my other computer station and YES I HAVE appreciated it and I have used it many times when at a loss for words....

Love you girl. Oh yes, and we have gone to $$ gifts to the kiddies. We noticed a few years ago we at times duplicated others gifts, so we switched to a card with $$ inside.

Deletei have 4 containers in the closet of Christmas STUFF and have not used even half in many years. i only took out my Big Santa, beat up dog tree, berries and 2 deer and a candle ring. Charlie brown tree is up. lift, sit it down hang one ball. the new tree is up with only lights. Please do not put my name in, I have sworn to myself at end of year, everything i keep will fit in ONE container and the rest are going... i don't buy cards or send cards or frame cards. basically I am sister to the grinch, or pretty close... Love your tree, from both directions...i just got back from picking up 2 RX that were called in 1 week ago, the doc did not listen once again and I am not going to take one of them. my favorite of your decorations is the two pups salt and pepper shakers.. I have 2 Santa shakers out, had them for 37 years and they are as old as i am, which is not 37. ha ha

DeleteLooks like you are having fun decorating. So am I. I like your saying you are a "tall child". That's a great way to put it. I totally relate, and it seems the older I get, the more of a child I become. Could this be the 2nd childhood we've heard about and whispered about our crazy Aunts and Uncles? LOL. I love being a child again, if that's what it is. I love your 3 cards...Ho Ho Ho...the jokes on you! But what a nice thing to do! Sure, I'd love to be in the giveaway if you really want to do that! What a sweet thought. I love your tree pics. We still don't have ours up and running just yet...ran into some "complications", which I'll probably write about eventually. ReplyDeleteDeep breaths ... LOL! A few years ago I made myself a vow (and a prayer) not to stress over Christmas; for the most part it's working.
DeleteYour going to see it and it's important! I love making the bed in the morning and Mark does help me now. Yes here too...gift cards and cash makes everyone happy, although my own children do give me things I can purchase for them from Amazon. That way I can ship right to Montana and I don't have to mail them to them.
