Due to their workday schedules, son and DIL don't like to do anything on Sundays. So, we all got together Saturday afternoon.
Laughing at myself. Y'all know I've been doing Keto since June 1 and didn't want to risk spoiling it. Just in case! Before we left I made myself a bowl of loose meat. Tom laughed, but I wanted to ensure I wouldn't walk in and start gorging. Did you ever do that before a date?
I needn't have worried. We brought smoked brisket and she had prepared Keto lemon pepper chicken wings plus a slow cooker full of pulled pork.
No fireworks, but Troy and I shared a funny memory. Have you ever seen anything like this?
Once upon a time this miniature (1-1/2") cast iron 'pooping dog' belonged to my father. Every July 4 he'd set it outside on the sidewalk and insert this ash-snake thing. Light it on fire and yep ... it pooped. Today it lives in the bottom of son's grandfather clock, but I don't think it occurred to either of us to look for ash snake pellets. Next year!

As usual, my DIL sent us home with leftovers.
Last night, Tom points to the large container of pulled pork -- "What's that?" I don't know how he missed Lois' slow cooker ... maybe he thought it contained beans. (LOL) Knowing how much he loves Boston Butt, I wasn't surprised when he fixed a big old, sloppy sandwich with banana pudding for supper. (It wasn't easy, but I resisisted.)

DeleteLoved your post so much. I am glad you and your kids got together on Saturday. We now can't do Saturdays because our kids own a store and it is open on Saturday, so that kind of makes things a little more difficult. We did get together yesterday (Sunday) after church and grilled burgers and hot dogs. They brought store bought potato salad and coleslaw and macaroni salad. I made baked beans and dessert and had some cut up melons. So it all worked out and no one had to wear themselves out. It's all about being flexible and making sacrifices so we can be together, which is what we want most of all...to be together. The pooping dog is so cute. I've never seen that or the ash stuff you are talking about. I guess I've led a sheltered life. LOL. The brisket sure looks good. I've never cooked one of those. I may have to start. Love banana pudding. Didn't think to make one, however. Something's wrong with my head. LOL. Have a blessed week. I always love to visit here.

No worries! I had to see it explained in person myself. Basically, our knuckles are peaks representing those months with 31 days; the in between 'valleys' months with 30 (or less).

DeleteI've never seen a pooping dog statue, but my mum used to have a motion sensor gnome, semi squatting with his hands on his knees and every time someone walked past it would fart. I think it was battery operated. I wish I had it now, but don't know what happened to it.
