Water Cooler Wednesday

Today I'm stealing from Martha at Seaside Simplicity.
(Sorry, Sandra!)

I think some of y'all already know all there is to know about me. Then again, maybe not!

Like Martha, I'm inviting you to ...

Ask me anything!
I'm an open book, but please. Be kind. 🤣

Within reason, I promise to answer honestly.

Hugs, Myra

  1. Wow ... that is very courageous. Any questions? I would not have the courage to do such a post on my Blog.

Here's a difficult question: Why are you so kind to your readers?

    God bless.

    1. Aw, not so difficult.
What's that quote, "Kindness begets kindness." And I'm fortunate to know some of the kindest folks in Blogland.
      Thanks, Victor!

  2. I have two. How did you and Tom meet and totally unrelated, how tall are you?

    1. Tom and I both worked in the same downtown (St. Pete) office building and would see one another on the 'smokers patio.' I thought there was something darn attractive about a man with a pipe.
I'm 5'7" ... or at least used to be. No-one's checked in years.

    2. Now that you mention it I'm pretty sure I remember you talking about how you met before.

I've always thought you looked tall Myra. I was always 5'6" and was shocked to recently learn I've shrunk and inch and a half!

  3. Aww... I love Victor's question and your answer! I will ask when are you coming back to Lakeland? I would love to see you again!! xo

    1. Do you read minds? 🙂 I've been yearning for another trip to Florida! But given the increasing cases of the Delta varient and my car, it will probably be next spring. (*sigh*)

  4. Oh you are brave like Martha above. Well, let me think. What can I ask you? I know you and I are about the same age, so we probably watched the same TV shows growing up and listened to same music. So here goes: Which Beatle was your favorite? George, Paul, John, or Ringo? 2. How old were you when you were allowed to go out on a real date (not double date)? Where did you go for your first date? Okay, let's see if you can remember! I'm not sure I can remember that one myself! LOL.

    1. Fun question! George, all the way. All these years later, I wept hearing he'd died. I only dated one boy while in high school -- so relieved to get a kiss while I was still 16 y/o!

    2. Oops, I forgot the 'where.' I THINK it was the movie theater. Thanks for asking!

    3. Wow! Amazing! George was my favorite also!! Usually everyone loved Paul, but there was just something about George that I really liked. Ha Ha as to that kiss! That's funny. And movie theaters were about all there was to do for dates. We also had school dances after the football games...and then there was the infamous drive in theater, which I was forbidden to attend with a boy. LOL. No more comments.

  5. Even though we've never met, I feel that I know you - because what you write is very genuine and reveals your true self. I prefer to absorb and enjoy what you reveal...and sometimes read between the proverbial lines (like you do so aptly on my blog - you very often notice things that others don't).

One thing I've forgotten is - where were you born (New Mexico?). I have no doubt that you've already told us, but my mind is often muddled...

I'd be hesitant to have people ask questions about myself. Kudos for your courage.

    1. Courage ... schmurage! I'm (almost) too old to worry what others might think.
Nope to New Mexico; I was born in Minneapolis a long, long time ago.

PS - I've often scoffed at the term, 'soul mate', but strongly suspect you're mine.

  6. What is your earliest childhood memory?

    Betty

    1. Good one, Betty! I couldn't have been more than 2 - but still in a crib. I was standing, holding onto the end piece and making it rock back and forth like crazy while I screamed for my mother and dad. My grandmother (who was watching me) was shaking her finger at me. I don't know if she called me 'evil' or if I later imagined it because I was always a little terrified of her.

  7. Wow, Myra, that does take some courage to invite others to ask personal questions, and I've enjoyed reading those and your answers so far. Here's one: If you could live anywhere, where would that be?
    Blessings, my friend!

    1. Aaaah, I like that! I'm happy as a clam to be here, close to my son and family. But! (Isn't there always a 'but'?) If that were not the case, I'd choose to live in a little log cabin high in Colorado's Rocky Mountains.

  8. now I will be forced to do the notify thingy which I rarely do because I read all the questions and answers and will want to read the next set. because of what you said, i DO have a question. You met in St Pete, we lived there, so what year were you there?

    1. Yay, I'm so glad you played! Ron and I moved to Tampa (from Texas) in May of 1985. I lived there, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, St. Pete (9th St. North) and finally Tarpon Springs until I moved (to Arizona) in 2002.

    2. Now I'm thinking you meant St. Pete, specifically? Pretty sure that was 1996.

  9. I've loved reading all you answers and learning more about you. My question is: If you could travel anywhere without worrying about expense or "health issues", where would you most want to visit and why and have you been there before?

    2. Thanks, Cathy! That's a toss up, between the Tuscany region of Italy -- or Vienna, Austria. Why? Well, I've always been a bit besotted by the Italians (*grin*) and for a while had a long-distance relationship with a local. I've visited both, but the latter at only 7 y/o so I've few memories. I'd love to see the snowy Alps and watch the Vienna Boys Choir perform. Good questions!

  11. I see above that you traveled to Vienna when you were 7 years old. Was that your first trip out of the country? If not, how old were you on your first trip? World travel was not something my parents could afford so I was in my early 20's before I even flew on an airplane or went out of the country. Now I would love to go EVERYWHERE!

    1. Hi Lisa! Go for it!
I was 3 or 4 y/o when my folks drove to El Paso and we walked across the border into Juarez. (I don't think that counts.) My parents lived very frugally; the only places they went were to work and church so they might fuel dad's passion for travel.

  12. Since I have just found your blog, you might have answered this before, but how (after all the places you have lived) did you wind up in Alabama?

    1. Thanks for asking, Anne. LIving in the desert heat (Phoenix) had become unbearable -- but mostly because my son and family live nearby. Sometimes I tell people I got sick and tired of paying good money to attend football games. (War Eagle!)

  13. Aw... I feel lke I know you well. But now I have learned even more. I'll be kind of silly, what is your favorite color? WHat is the most favorite place you ever lived? This was fun and I sure learned lots.
