Let's go to the Movies!

Hello friends!

Welcome back to Tuesday 4 -- maintained in honor of the late Toni Taddeo.  Thank you, Anne!

This week's posers --

A movie theme song will play every time you walk in the room.  What is it?

I love this so much I made it my phone's ring tone.
I don't know that it defines me, but ya.  I'd be proud to hear it.

What movie, book or TV program could you live in?

I started to write Gone With the Wind -- then remembered they didn't have air conditioning.

Let's go with

Is there a book/movie/TV quote you often think about or that effects you in some way?

Bridges of Madison County

OK, friend.  It's your turn to organize our Blogger Movie Night where we get together as a group for snacks and movies!  What movies have you planned for us tonight, and what snacks are we going to have?

I'm probably overthinking the movies' selection.  My tastes run to the intense that might not sit well with everyone.  Besides, if people started talking in the middle there's a good chance I'd get cranky.

Let's keep it light and uplifting --
Mamma Mia, Return to Me, even Sound of Music

Snacks?

Everything from garlic popcorn and pistachios .... to antipasto skewers .... to Conecuh sausage sliders and 'mater gravy.
BYOB!

I'd love to hear your answers!

Hugs, Myra

  1. I loved that movie, Return to Me, Myra, but hadn't thought about it in a long time until you suggested it here. I've always been a fan of Sound of Music, too, and have watched it countless times. Your movie night sounds like a winner!
    Blessings!

    1. Thank you, Martha! I just saw your comment on Pam's blog, and want to say I'm so saddened. Even when we expect it, losing the first person who ever loved us is heartbreaking.

  2. my theme would be Pretty Woman, loved the movie and love the theme song. the one I want to live in is Sabrina, the orginal but wouid move in the 2nd version also. I prefer to watch movies alone, even bob irritates me because he talks over the movie and asks questions during the movie.. i need silence. i have never been to anyones home to watch a movie. i also don't like riding in a car with several people and a radio playing in the crowd. to me people means talking, not watching or listening. also, I don't eat while watching movies. as a teen i did buy popcorn and coke at a movie. most of my friends would not want to watch the movies I love, the ones mentioned above they might but my fav movies are all action/thrillers, this week we watch the first 3 Jason Bourne movies one each night. bob talked through all of them. all the die hard Bruce willis woudl be my first choice, i want to see him take out the helicopter with his car. woo hoo. the 3 movies for your night, i have never seen and never will. Musicals make me crazy. i am either Cinderella or Action Fella

    1. Great song choice -- that's such a happy, catchy tune! I don't recall ever eating popcorn in the movie theater -- mine was a Valomilk bar and Dr. Pepper.

  3. The music is beautiful. I've seen the movie and read the book (actually, I'm not sure I read it all), but did not know the music somehow.

  4. These were cute questions this week. The snacks you are serving, I definitely would want to come to a movie at your place and I promise to be relatively quiet during whatever movie you picked for us to watch! Growing up we had a lot of movie soundtracks as records, but for the life of me I cannot remember a single one now from there or any current ones. Senior moment here :)

  6. I like the quote from Bridges of Madison County. I'm not sure I have a favourite film. I like the Marx Brothers, Bob Hope, Danny Kaye - serious stuff like that. Oh ... have you seen OH God featuring George Burns and John Denver?

I like your selection of food though.

    God bless.

    1. I'd totally forgotten "Oh, God"! 'Loved George Burns! Hard to pinpoint a favorite movie, isn't it? My favorite 'intense' flicks for instance? -- American Sniper, Saving Private Ryan, Castaway, etc. The kind that tear your heart out but make you FEEL at the same time. Does that make sense?

  9. You can make a blog so interesting. I wish I could remember as well. I hate to admit it, but The "William Tell Overture" that I played in the school bands and brought on "The Lone Ranger" is the only song I remember! LOL
I smiled at the A/C comment on Gone With The Wind!, and YEP I'd definitely take the Love Boat. Good one!
    Love from over here.

  15. Oooo...it would be fun to be stuck living in/on The Love Boat! I've been watching a lot of old Fantasy Island reruns lately, that might be fun, too. Sign me up for Mama Mia...I'll volunteer to do a snack run or something during The Sound of Music.

  17. You all have made this meme so interesting, and I can't even think up a thing to say this week. I haven't been to a movie in SO long. (Titanic was the last one I saw in a theater!!!) However, I DO love popcorn at a movie. I am a Sound of Music fan for sure, but I have enjoyed action movies with my sons when they were all here to watch them together. That was the best part...having them here to watch them together. I really didn't care about the movie...it was watching them enjoying the movie that was best. Oh well...here we go. I enjoyed your post. Sorry I didn't play along this week.

    1. Sweet family memories! Hey, I get it about the question --some weeks are like that. Movie theaters have lost much of their appeal; for us, at least. The last time, we went with a group from church to see Overcomer. The soda and popcorn cost more than admission!

  18. Let's get together and watch Mama Mia! We have seen the movie but we also saw the "Broadway in Birmingham" production of Mama Mia. The music is so fun!! I don't think I've ever had tomato gravy but I've grown up in the south and lived here my whole life and tomato gravy sounds southern. Please tell me about it!

    1. Let's do it! I love live theater. I only tasted tomato gravy for the first time at a friend's home, but I'd have to consult the internet how to make it.

  19. I love the Forest Gump theme songs also. I wanted it for myself, but my sister had other ideas for me.
You must be Southern if you are serving Conecuh sausage sliders! Yum!
