Good morning!
Before I respond to Joyce's posers, I want to apologize for the wonky appearance of my last post. I've no clue where that weird black-on-white font came from -- nor why, any time I used a "-mark or italics, the words mysteriously disappeared.
On second thought, perhaps the folks at New Blogger owe us an apology?
Anyway! Without further ado, let's play the Hodgepodge!
What's happening where you live in terms of schools opening? How do you feel about it?
I'm not certain, but have heard conflicting reports -- it's six of one, half dozen of another.
Fortunately, I've no littles in the game, but would probably be sick with worry. And how burdensome to be an educator!
What's something you still do 'old school'?
Off the top of my head, I still --
Retain hard copy docs in a filing cabinet ..... wash dishes by hand ..... and make the bed each morning with 'hospital corners' the way my mother taught.
August 4 is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. Will you/did you celebrate by baking a batch? Eating a batch? Nuts or no nuts? Homemade or store bought? Soft and chewy, or do you prefer your cookie to snap when you bite into it?
Unless you're talking raw dough, I'll go for a Reese's instead. (*smile*)
What are you starved for?
Literally?
Oh, I know there's always curbside pickup ...
but it just doesn't feel the same as enjoying a leisurely dining experience.
Anything new or interesting on your August calendar? What is one thing you're looking forward to this month?
I'd love to say a Gulf Shores getaway, but noooo. I'll be delighted to get thumb's up, both from Tom's pulmonologist and my cardiologist this week.

Love the girls in the cake! Love the ostrich in the board! But most of all I love that when my phone opened your post you had given me a steaming cup of coffee I sat and stared at it and thought I'm going to have to steal this. The picture not the coffee haha. I still do a map and not a GPS and I still wash dishes by hand and always have! I probably wouldn't even know how to turn a dishwasher own since I've never had one! Praying for good results from both of your test. Last but not least I'm craving a Culver's burger or any Burger that's bought from a fast food place because I haven't had one in 5 months
ReplyDeleteAbout that ostrich ... I know, right? I'll never visit the lumber section of Home Depot without a closer look. LOL! Besides Fuddruckers, Culver's makes the best burgers. Pity, there's neither here. ;(

Interesting, you and Sandra both prefer maps to GPS! I find them annoying, but then it's probably my own cognitive challenges. LOL!

DeleteI have hard copy documents so old they are in Latin or hieroglyphics. No dish-washing machine - we use the dog to lick them clean !!! As for sheets with hospital corners - it is easier to staple the sheets to the bed!

ReplyDeleteYou know Kelly is a teacher. She was told she was going to teach in the school. Then they told her they were teaching out of the school. Now they are saying they are going back. She is going nuts! As well as the parents I am sure.
I started to say, "Tree?" ... them realized what you meant. That wood grain is something else, isn't it? Prayers for Kelly navigating her way through the system!

I know what you mean about leisurely dining. The first time we went out after things opened again it was such a pleasant experience to get "waited on". I guess we are a bit spoiled.
Schools are opening virtually here over this month. Must be a nightmare for parents, especially parents who have more than one child. Glad those days are gone by!

DeleteI enjoyed reading your answers today. It's always a good day when we get good reports on doctor visit day :) We still keep hard copies and my husband prefers hand washing the dishes over the dish washer, too.

DeleteThe photo of your pups with the cake is precious, Myra! As a former teacher, I've really been hurting for the predicament schools are facing this year. Virginia and her sisters, in SC, are starting school in person after Labor Day. I really hope they can stick to the plan of in-person learning; kids miss out on so much when they can only learn at home.

DeleteThis is my 3rd time trying to leave a comment today. It keeps saying opps there was an error. Hopefully will go through this time. I will be praying that you do get aget thumb's up, both from Tom's pulmonologist and your cardiologist this week. The schools start here and I'm concerned for my children and grandchildren. A few of my kids are teachers too. Hoping all the guidelines set in place keep them safe. My sweet tooth has taken a big hit here so no cookies of any kind for me right now. Better safe than sorry they say. I have another follow up with the doctor tomorrow but so far the new meds are not doing much at all for my high blood pressure. So he'll probably give me a different prescription again.

I finally got here and Yep the blog and comments are great. The whole traveling crew enjoyed Victor. AS I am typing I see I have lost the internet, and that is confirmed from across the table. DeleteWe keep hard copies too in file cabinets. I usually hand wash dishes during the week but I run the dishwasher once a week for glasses and then items I add in for a day or two. We make the bed too! I love Reese's. Praying for that thumbs up! Love your random thoughts.

DeleteBahahaha! The ostrich in the tree nearly made me spit diet coke all over the lapttop! And the stomach thing...sadly true. No vacations here, either. If this year has one word to describe it...BORING.

ReplyDeleteMy dil and both her sisters are teachers. They are already back in the classroom, but you know, things can change overnight. We'll see.
I was raised on hard copies although I do have a dishwasher these. I pray for the kids and teachers. I know many who are homeschooling and to be honest some of the smartest folks I Know were home schooled. My cousin has a hard time. SHe teaches second grade and her district cannot make up their mind. She has lots going on with her hubby. He had knee surgery, turned into a huge infection so she has been anxious to see the kiddos. Pray it is what I do best. HUGS

Ya'know. I went to it, and learned stuff. And came back to "Old" Bogger. They were going to make us all go to "new", end of July. And they didn't.
Soooo, I figure if I am more happy with "Old", and they don't have all the kinks straightened out of the "New"... I'm enjoying the "Old".
Who knows, "New" still looked "wonky," last time I looked. Maybe they will abandon it!!!
