Oh m'gosh y'all ... this has been such a fun week!
I suspect Tom wanted to take my mind off my upcoming heart cath, because he accompanied me to not one, but 3 antique/flea market malls in 3 days (That is sooo not his thing.)

| Welcome to Wetumpka! |
Of course, I'd forgotten the cardinal rule of a successful hunt: "Set your expectations aside." I was forced to conclude, a big funky salad bowl doesn't exist anywhere in Central Alabama. But spotting prices on the array of mixing bowls and everything Fostaria, it's best I think outside the box and recycle some of my mother's own kitchenware.
Actually, I'm feeling fortunate to have settled in a smaller home with little room to accompany those things which tickled my fancy ...

Tom's known me long enough to know the fastest way to my heart is good great food, so we detoured by Fat Boys for a slab of ribs and 2lbs. of smoked brisket. I had say, "Excuse me?" when he told me the tab was $59.13 ... on account that was the exact amount we'd just paid up the road at the antique mall. What a coincidence!
I'm sure looking forward to tomorrow morning's Bible study. We're going to watch 2015's War Room. And someone's promised popcorn!
Meanwhile, don't forget ....
Please take good care of yourselves. Talk soon!
Hugs,
Myra

You did great on the plant stand. My grandfather was wheeler-dealer/picker/swap meet kind of guy and he bought a bunch of those new in the 70's and gave them to all of us girls. Mine is long gone, but my mom still has hers. I saw one on ebay not too long ago. They said it was "vintage" dirt, rust and all. They were asking in the neighborhood of $700!!! I told Mom to take very good care of hers. LOL
ReplyDeleteOh.My.Gosh! Granted, I'm new to the antique game, but was kind of put off by the prices.
DeleteWar Room is a GREAT movie! Antique Malls are so fun. We have one here in Lakeland and quite a few stores in our downtown area. The downtown stores are usually way over priced but the Mall has soon good bargains now and then. Glad you had some fun. And that meat purchase... YUM!!
ReplyDeletePowerful! I'd seen it in the theater 'back when' but got so much more watching this morning. Wish everyone would see it!
DeleteSo glad it's been a great week. I'm glad Tom is being a good guy and giving in to what you want to do. Glad you got some great food too! So weird with the exact amount thing. Enjoy your Bible study, movie and popcorn! Here's to a great week ahead - cheers! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha! It's probably sinful to love that brisket as much as I do. :)
DeleteYou found some very INTERESTING things!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd a slab or ribs - yummy.
Have you ever seen War Room - it was great!
I agree! Maybe not what Hollywood considers Oscar-worthy, but yes. It's great.
DeleteTom? See we aren't always dumb! LOL Enjoyable read and trip. I think it only fair that 'JACK' is in an antique store. ;-) Sherry agreed.
ReplyDeleteLove glass knobs, but yep not many lids to pop.
Sending love and soothing thoughts and prayers your way.
Sherry, jack & JJ on the road again Tuesday...
Aw, you make me smile. Antique? I think prefer the softer, kinder label 'Vintage.' Thanks for the good cheer!
DeleteInteresting things you saw with the antique malls! How funny the same amount for food as well as your treasures! I didn't see the War Room but heard it was a pretty good movie! Enjoy!
ReplyDeletebetty
Oh, Betty. Please make it a point to see War Room! I can't remember ever being so touched by a movie.
DeleteI'm so glad you had a good time, that's so important. Sending love and good wishes.
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much! xoxox
DeletePraying for you for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI like the plant stands. Great purchase. Also the traffic lights and fire hydrants.
God bless.
Aren't those crazy fun?
DeleteYour prayers are treasured, my friend!
I think the plant stands were a sensible and practical choice, indeed. Glad you two were able to get out and have some fun together, Myra. Praying for your heart cath!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
That means so much ... thank you Martha!
DeleteI will comment as soon as my breathe comes back from bob doing CPR to get me back when I had a heart attack reading the 59.13 price and fell out on the floor... i am CHEAP, a tightwad of extreme proportions and have never in my 75 years paid more than 35 dollars for any meal and that was deliver pizza. Bob just gave me another word, MIZER is what he calls me... i went back to read your post and i see you must have taken some of that home with you, or maybe all, not a sit down meal. I am rambling from shock. ha ha prayers for the heart cath tomorrow and that everything is clear. ok, now to the other stuff. like those door knobs, really like them.. about plant stands, have never bought one of those either. i just sit the plants on stumps that are free.. oh that brings up the fact i dont have any plants to put in the stands. before I go, good choice on those stands. I like them
ReplyDeleteFunny girl! Actually, that meal translates to 2-3 days of lip-smacking eating at Casa Guca.
Delete(((grinning))) LOVE THIS POST. Keeping you in prayer, Myra. smiles
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch, Linda! Blessings!
DeleteWhat a fun weekend and the food would have been a bonus. I love antiquing and always find something I can use. I've often thought it would be a fun way to decorate an entire house. Your Tom is a wise man and so good to take you ! Enjoy the Bible study and the popcorn. Sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteExactly! But apart from my quip about Joanna Gaines, I've not a single decorating gene to speak of. Probably just as well, lol!
DeleteNow I Need some good barbeque. YUM! Always keeping both of you in our prayers. Tom is a good guy. Aw...I would love to have the money to decorate. We use to cruise the antique stores on South Broadway when I worked with Bea and Wanda and the girls at the UCHSC Microbiology/Immunology dept. Those were some wonderful times. Enjoy your bible study. We keep watching the skies watching on Jesus. HUGS across the miles XO
ReplyDeleteWay to go Tom! I love the photos, such cute things. I would love one of the doorknob bottle openers.
