After 2 years, we're getting new neighbors!
 Delicious irony:
Back in 1830 a fellow named Joel Zeigler built his home on this (now-abandoned) lot ...
..... and shortly after, founded Robinson Springs Methodist Church where we attend.
The new owners?
None other than Pastor Janet and her hubby!
She called me yesterday to ask, "I hope you don't mind?" (Aside: It will make skipping services a little awkward. Jus' saying....)

So fortunate to have stumbled on an ordinary, down-home smokehouse ...
That serves up the best ribs we've ever had. Ya, good food plays a big role in our lives. Just keeping it real. (*smile*)

The near-miraculous (near) recovery of the Hartocks' new baby. I never heard of something called RSV, but following their story sure underscores the fragility of life.
For days and days, 'Rory' has been in ICU in a paralytic coma -- dependent on a breathing machine, chest-tube, feeding tube and gosh, I can't recall what all.
No, I've never met these folks. But like their nearly 35,000 followers, I've been on pins and needles ... shedding tears and lifting prayers.
Yesterday was the first in 11 days her parents were allowed to hold her. God is so good!

How neat your pastor/hubby bought the place close by! I'm sure she'll be covering the area in prayer, so therefore you guys will be covered in prayer too :) Yum on the smokehouses! I agree, nothing better than food to enjoy life!

DeleteRemind me ... where did I hear this song before. It sounds so familiar. You know, sometimes a tune comes to one's head, or is heard on the radio or whatever, and you can't remember where you heard it before.
ReplyDeleteHaving a pastor/vicar/priest next door would be awful for me, because I can no longer throw dead frogs and birds over the fence into their garden. Also, I would not be able to refuse them when they want to borrow my lawnmower. And they would know I was having a barbecue instead of going to church. And they would hear me sing in the shower! People don't usually sing hymns in the shower; so I would have to change my repertoire.

Deletenow that I have read about your new neighbors, I wonder what all the neighbors we had felt when the pastor moved next door… that brought back memories of 3 years when Daddy was at Clear Creek Baptist Preachers School we lived on campus and every one that lived in housing had a pastor next door. every apartment and house had a pastor in it. love your glasses and glad you have adjusted to the progressive lens. happy for the baby that they were able to hold it. that song was one of the most popular songs at the nursing home where I volunteered for 8 years..

DeleteI love that song. Now I'll be singing it all day long. How great you have your pastor for new neighbors. Not strangers to you for sure. Did you even know they were looking for a house? Sounds like it was surprise. I agree good food is good part of my life too. sounds like you have a lot of good choices there. Enjoy your weekend. It is raining here and suppose to change to snow but we had a warm day yesterday that warmed up the gourd so for now it is all melting. I'd rather have rain that snow.

DeleteOh RSV is nasty! I would like to know where it comes from and how babies get it? It is maddening. Logan had such a hard start in life and then hit with that and all the other "old folks" diseases too. He is getting along at home and I hope they stay close. Too much weird stuff in this world. So many worry about corona virus but want open borders! Okey dokey Smokey! Two people with Corona Virus here came from overseas so I am not surprised. I still know people who are willing to hop on a ship and sail away. Currently I am content staying close to home. I know you will enjoy all the greenery but WOW! you have so much rain. Uh oh pastor next door to you! Hmmmm...... better behave! HaHa! ALways fun stopping here. I am catching up. HUGS
