The sun's not up, but Alexa says another 4" of rain's expected this week.
I'm thankful
For a good follow-up with Tom's doctor last week.
He's supposed to begin cardiac rehab, but we're in a holding pattern, waiting for TriWest authorization. That's OK. If they don't come through, I'll try and get him to start walking with me.
I'm thinking
Not only is Dr. Ahmed an internationally-recognized cardiac surgeon, but a super nice fellow, too.
Easy on the eyes, too. (*grin*)
I don't much care for it … but have become accustom to folks (particularly at UAB) offering fist-bumps v. handshakes. Not only did Dr. Ahmed shake Tom's hand, but walked across the room and shook mine as well. No-one's ever done that before!
BTW … how do you feel about shaking hands these days?
One of my favorite things
I literally squealed when I spotted green carnations at Dollar Tree. Some of you may remember, my father always bought me green carnations on my birthday. Every year, for 31 years.
They're not particularly fancy or showy, but they're my favorite flower.

Tom had his usual rib-eye and loaded potato, but I couldn't pass up the salmon and baked creamed spinach.

It has been particularly rainy for y'all this year. I don't have any problems with shaking hands with anyone...this media hype over the virus is just that, hype. WASH YOUR HANDS PEOPLE! (woooo I feel better now, lol. AND that's the problem with a lot of these other countries, they don't regularly wash their hands, just saying.)

I depsise all time changes, no matter which one is changing and have spent the past week bitching about the coming change. we are so habitual, any change makes us crazy... glad to see you pop up, I saw all the tornados up above you in TN and fretted a little. i am leaving in 10 minutes for a free breakfast, one of the tops ladies gave the four of us officers 10 gift cards to a breakfast restaurant.

I do not like doctors to shake hands and in fact think shaking hands is archaic and should be stopped. makes no sense to me and never has... I have never done a fist bump.. or seen anyone do one except on TV shows.. I just wish people would stop hugging me..
I used to loathe DST, but since we both struggle to drive after dark I've changed my tune. Another of Tom's doctors only does fist pumps. Awkward.
DeleteGlad Tom's followup appt went well! Happy belated birthday to him!! He's looking great for 78! A lady at our church had a kidney transplant. She does the knuckle hand shake because she doesn't want to risk germs. I bet with all the talk of Covid-19 she doesn't get out much these days. Be safe in Alabama! Terrible news in Tennessee! How cute with the green carnations! I'm washing my hands so much more these days especially now that I'm back in a "germ pool" with work as hubby calls it!

Thanks! Ya, we woke up to a tornado watch, but thankfully nothing came of it. Today's the anniversary of the tornado that swept through Beauregard last year, killing 23 people -- so folks are understandably on edge.

Waling would be a good way to do therapy. It's one of the best exercises there are in my opinion. Nice you have such a good doctor. I don't mind hand shakes any time, but I do keep sanitizer in my purse. We can't be afraid to simply live. It's pouring rain here this morning and there are huge puddles everywhere. I think I'll be staying in until tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteThat quote about life is so true. Life is like a toilet paper roll. The more it gets to the end the faster it goes round.
A friend of mine, who is a scientist, explained that there is no scientifically good reason to change the clocks backwards and forwards each year. They just do it to annoy people.
Did you know there are more germs in our hands than there is on a toilet door handle? This scientist friend suggests we all carry a toilet door handle in our pockets and instead of shaking hands we shake handles.
What else can I say to make you smile? Oh yes ... the door handle in our toilet when I was young did not work properly. I used to sit on the throne with my leg stretched out against the door. Pity it opened outwards.

DeleteI'm trying to avoid handshakes and am sanitizing and washing my hands more and more. I rarely touch my face (supposed to avoid it now) but Joe is ALWAYS touching his face. I need to keep after him. Joe opted out of the cardiac rehab just because the co-pays are crazy high for us. He is doing okay. I'm so happy Tom is doing so well! Happy Tuesday!

DeleteI agree, dr. Ahmed is my doctor and yes cute to. I think more so than his picture. I've seen more doctors since my trips up there and all were really nice, but the hospital might be another story. Smile. Happy Birthday to Tom yes, he is looking great. They mention Cardiac relab again last week since I would have to go all the way to Dothan I think it is an out thing for me .I don't mind handshakes most of my doctors do shake hands but it might be best if they didn't with all this mess going around. Mr D went through heart rehab after his bypass surgery. He did good and I hope your Tom does too. No rain for us today but they say it's coming tomorrow, of all days I have to get out for a doctor appointment. With that said I hope it isn't a stormy rain, I hate driving in a downpour. Yep, I'm looking forward to DST also. Hope you're having a good day.

DeleteI like Dr. Ahmed myself. I like the personal touch in any man, and especially one of statue, it removes a wall. I have a friend who bumps knucks but mostly I still prefer the hand shake also. I also like hearing good news about old Tom also. He is looking good. Yep, amazing those 'old' Rock stars.

ReplyDeleteGreat news about the rehab. We got some great news today, too. The lung cancer is GONE!!! The only downside is there are some spots on his brain now, so he'll be going through some more radiation. We're feeling very optimistic and grateful. He's kicked cancer's butt in two locations, now, and we're confident he's gonna kick this one's butt, too. Life is good. :)
I would've had the salmon, too. In fact, I did. We went to our favorite restaurant this evening to celebrate.

DeleteThere should be a device that follows you out of public restrooms when people do not wash their nasty hands! UGH! Tom's cardio doctor sounds super nice. Avery had a cardio guy like that but alas, he left for greener pastures. The first thing he said to him after shaking our hands which I find respectful, he said, you're too damn young to have these problems! He also wondered why his PCP couldn't figure out the correct dosage for one of his meds. Good to have a great doctor. We feel that way about his Pulmonary Dr. too at National Jewish. He's very concerned and takes time to listen a rarity with many doctors today. The gave the hubby Levaquin which nearly killed him and doc said, take that "crap" and toss it in the trash! AT a recent visit to see the regular doctors some newbie tried to give him Levaquin, I say NOPE! Love green carnations and remember your fondness for them. I am happy to be catching up with you.
