Outside my Window
I'm sure grateful to our pest-control man for recommending his son to do our front landscaping. A school teacher, Brandon's presently on furlough, and was really appreciative of the chance to make a few bucks 'under the table.'
Tom would argue, but. One of the nice things about being a 'senior citizen', I no longer feel we should try and do something like this ourselves.
In the kitchen
I'm no longer allowed to shop for ice-cream bars.
Some of y'all may recall when, a few months ago, I returned from shopping with grocery and dry cleaning bags over my arm. So, Tom carries the clean clothes back to his closet -- never noticing I'd looped a grocery bag over the top of the hangers. We were so sure I'd left them behind at check-out … until Tom needed a clean dress shirt a few days later.
Last week I was trying to rearrange the freezer to accommodate more Eskimo bars and frozen pizza. Somehow (???) the package of ice cream bars got set on the top of the refrigerator … and hid there. Until the next day.
And now you know, the rest of the story.
I'm thankful
For a couple Bible Study gals who are taking time to do a 'Buddy check' on the rest of us. That felt pretty good.
I'm thinking
If I can't get to the Dollar Tree for Easter décor, I'm going to try blowing some eggs. Remember doing that in Scouts?
A little food coloring and some of Tom's fishing line … and who knows what mess might come!

… remembering when my parents took me to a taping and I got Dorothy Kilgallen's autograph. I used to think she and Arlene Francis were so glamorous.

ummmm! me thinks after the ice cream bar episodes, you might want to re-think blowing eggs. 😁 I actually look worse than the lady at the end of the post. and I walk the dog looking like this. I am saving Dollars On Makeup! scaring any neighbors we might see, but we are 10 foot away, so maybe they can't see the face. I loved whats my line back in the day..about yard work, one more week and we will not be able to see our neighbor through the weeds.

Ha! Glad I'm not the only one that puts things in the wrong place and forgets. Plus, yeah...I'm thinking we are all looking like that cartoon. We sat outside in our daughter's yard yesterday and I had on a pink ball cap to keep my hair from blowing to OZ, a turquoise t-shirt, black capri leggings, and my blue rubber boots with umbrellas all over them because it was muddy from Saturday's rain. Did I care? Nope.

Oh no! on the ice cream. I sometimes wonder why I even bother to get dressed at all these days except i dp have to go out to get the mail.My DDIL is doing my shopping today and my son will be dropping it off later. I need to start the car and go for a ride to see if it still works. I do remember what's my line and enjoyed it so. Those were fabulous ladies.

ReplyDeleteBut I smiled at a name of a wonderful lady in the past, Dorothy Kilgallen. Amazing the pictures that come up from that era. SWEET.
As I work down stairs, I am thinking well; re-thinking what I plan to do. It just maybe time to hire the grands on the weekend. Yeah, good on you fro the idea of the yard work.

What's My Line... I loved that show back in the day! Will have to look for it! Your landscaping looks great! One of our church members is out of work and has offered to help anyone (for free) to do work around the house or yard. We have some things we could have him do but will pay him for it. Haven't called yet but thinking about it. We had a neighbor when I was growing up who blew out the eggs and then painted the shells. They were intricately done and beautiful. Keep us posted if you do it!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's really neat that you got Dorothy Kilgallen's autograph. I remember her feud with Frank Sinatra. Rumors that Sinatra had her killed are unfounded (*smile*).
ReplyDeleteI've successfully done some blown-out eggs for Easter (years ago). Just make sure the inside is REALLY cleaned out - - or they'll smell like Satan's outhouse (heck, that's the only analogy I could think of....).
I remember your ordeal with the Eskimo Pies.
Last summer I accidentally left two dozen eggs in the hot car for two days. I threw all of them out.
I enjoyed all of that. That is my outfit too. And I would do the same thing about the ice cream - in fact I have left a lot of things on top of my icebox. I think Dollar Tree is open- just be careful.

DeleteIf I didn't bring home ice cream bars the hubby would no longer love me. HaHa we'd actually be thinner . We kept seeing commercials for Magnum chocolate bars. Oh Lord! Plus Culvers knows us personally for the drive up custard of the day. We also frequent Good Times. This month Oregon Blackberry is the custard of the month here. LOL! OH I Love your landscaping. My SIL Jake he is my yard helped. I can not wait til they can come visit. I say, he does. I love that child so much! Shhhh.....don't tell Hannah!Oh no on the eggs! Rebekah just literally walked in the door with a 30 count of eggs. It is all they had. They must think we would not buy them. Ha! We are egg people. I have to make the hubby slow down on home projects. He needs his rest and as of right now as he walks to the bus for the final time til this mess is over, he is mine all mine for 9 whole days!
