I've not chosen a particular WORD in several years now. Yet, without rhyme or reason, IMAGINE came to my mind several weeks ago … and stayed put. I'm not going to over-think it; but simply, go with the flow.
No doubt I'm in the minority …..

ReplyDeleteI like your word Imagine. I hope you share thoughts about it as it plays out in the new year in your blog. Most of the words people tend to say are "hope, peace, love, compassion, gratitude" and mine of the new year "focus" but I haven't heard too many imagines.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember all the details of the sermon I heard back around 2008/2009 and I thought I blogged it but I can't find it (old blog that I have in private setting) but the pastor at the time mentioned John Lennon and the song Imagine. I'm going to have to try to go back and find it. There was some relevance in it but of course I can't remember it now, LOL.
I do like the lyrics of this version. Its weird how sometimes songs are interpreted differently than the original writing of it. I love the song Hallelujah. It is haunting. I googled it the other day after I really listened to the lyrics (thinking it was a scriptural song and parts could be tied possibly to it) but it really isn't and I learned a lot about the composer/singer of it (Leonard Cohen).
I haven't researched John Lennon's Imagine and what was on his mind when he wrote it/performed it.
I would like to IMAGINE a world that is different than it is today on the verge of a new decade. A world more kind, compassionate, merciful, loving and more filled with Jesus :) Imagine that!

Yes, Myra, I love how Fr. Maple turns the original song on its ear. Imagine is the perfect word as it reflects a willingness to grow, to keep learning, and to be creative.

Imagine is such a deep word. I do not know the words in the lyrics. I will look them up. Actually it is mysterious, Imagine. I do hope you and Brother Tom have a wonderful year. Also I look forward to visiting your home with each entry here.
