Feelin' fine!
July 6th is National Fried Chicken Day ... are you a fan?
Not really, no.
Do you make your own or have a favorite place to buy from?
I've never even tried making fried chicken.
Believe it or not, Tom and my son swear the best fried chicken is what they get at the gas station. Judging from the lines, lots of others agree.

Do you own chickens?
lolololol, no.
If not chicken, what's your favorite fried food?
I've not enjoyed it in ages, but a big old chicken fried steak with lots of white cream gravy makes me swoon.
What's something you're too chicken to try?
We've several big Christmas boxes occuping real estate in the spare bedroom b/c I'm afraid of/don't trust the pull-down stairs leading to our attic.
When did you last find yourself running around like a 'chicken with its head cut off'?
I'm sure I must have, but it's been a long time. Sure, stuff happens -- but for the most part I think that's a result of poor planning.
Something you've done recently that makes you think 'I'm no spring chicken'?
Every time I try and get up off the kitchen floor!
'Winner winner chicken dinner' -- Tell us about something good that's happened in your life lately.
This isn't 'Yippee, strike up the band!' worthy, but! After a week in the shop, my car's a/c is working once more ... for less than $200!

Yum - I haven't thought of chicken fried steak in a long time . . .and I love gravy! I love those two memes at the end!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa!
DeleteOh wow, chicken fired steak was a staple of my childhood but definitely have not had it in forever!
ReplyDeleteMe, either. Down here most restaurants serve it with brown gravy. (Epic fail!)
DeleteGreat minds think alike, I'm celebrating Fried Chicken today too. I don't think I've run around like a chicken with my head cut off since I retired. Life in the slow lane is wonderful. I know I'm not a spring chicken, every time I try to move. The aches and pains of old age is not for sissies for sure. Enjoy some fried chicken today! Love, ma
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Ma. Life is far better in the slow lane.
DeleteLove that last meme. So true!! Can you imagine your girls if you had chickens? We used to get the best fried chicken at a pizza place up in Oregon. It was even better than my mom's, lol, and my mom's was pretty darn good! I hear you, girl, about trying to get up off the floor. It takes me a minute to do so. I avoid it if at all possible but sometimes find myself down on it playing with grandson. He gets up and is to his next activity and I'm still trying to get off the floor, lol. Glad your AC got fixed and it was a reasonable cost. That is definitely a winner!
ReplyDeletebetty
Oh, that's a funny thought. Little Grace would probably have a stroke.
DeleteThoroughly enjoyed this. We are smiling as we just ran around the RV like chickens with our heads cut off, looking for the kitty! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have chicken on for today's supper. I am stuck on the slow-cooker now. ;-).
Loved that 'spring chicken answer': Every time I try and get up off the kitchen floor! LOL
Love ya
Sherry & jack ;-)
But did y'all find the kitten? Enjoy that slow-cooked chicken!
DeleteFried Chicken Day?? It seems like every day of the year is reserved to celebrate something.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to "Nothing at All Day".
I love chicken, but I'm admittedly not crazy about fried chicken. It's too greasy and it has an annoying way of disguising the natural good flavor of the chicken.
Heck, I've been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off as long as I can remember....
I know, right. There's a website and calendars, too, dedicated to celebrating every day. It's all a bit silly, but I like your suggestion.
DeleteYes, a chicken fried steak can be yummy. It is not easy getting off the floor these days but I can still do it. That is awesome about your car. Enjoyed reading your answers. Enjoy the rest of your week. Love your random jokes!!!
ReplyDeleteIf the day comes I can't get off the floor without help, I may have to take up day drinking -- and then I won't care. LOL.
DeleteHa Ha Ha! I LOVE your last quotes. So true! And the "spring chicken" answer is so true too. That has become a huge issue for me and it is really comical to watch me even try. Getting Down on the floor is just as bad as trying to get up. LOL. I can't believe you're not a fried chicken fan, but that's okay. You weren't raised in the south, were you? LOL. I actually don't make good fried chicken either. If I want really good fried chicken, we buy it at the grocery store. Publix makes really good fried chicken. I enjoyed your post as always. And I love chicken fried steak and white gravy on mashed potatoes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam. They cracked me up, too. You're right; I was raised in northern N.M.; I don't think my mother ever made fried chicken either.
DeleteThose memes are hysterical, Myra, especially the one about the bladder - guaranteed to get me out of bed every time! And I admire the fact that you can still get down on the floor AND get yourself back up. My joints simply don't work anymore. I really missed getting down on the floor with the two youngest grands during our last visit.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love fried chicken!
Blessings!
What makes me sad, once I get up there's no going back to bed -- the pups are ready to party.
DeleteYou are fortunate to get an inexpensive car repair. I feel like that's almost unheard of now. We say one of the best things we did when building this house was put actual stairs up to the attic. Ours is over the garage so it was possible and I'm up there several times a week for various things because the access is so easy. Those ladders make me nervous too, especially trying to carry something. Take care!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to add 'real' stairs! At our age, I'm not willing to risk injury.
DeleteHey, having the A/C working and for less than $200 is definitely yippee worthy (at least in my estimation) Love those memes. I forgot all about chicken fried steak with gravy...yum!
ReplyDeletePraise God, it only needed an evac and recharge. The 'old lady' (Camry's) a tough bird!
DeleteI think the best fried chicken we can get near us is either Publix or Jack's. Not the best in town, but both are relatively near my house and if the hankering comes, they are an easy fix.
ReplyDeleteCar a/c is a necessity here. Under 200 is a gift!
I know, right? I was really concerned we might have to bite the bullet and start car shopping.
DeleteI love the jokes! Not fried chicken.
ReplyDeleteUntil I went away to college, I don't remember fried chicken ever being served.
DeleteGiggling at those last two memes!! Chicken fried steak!! Yum! Kudos on the inexpensive fix on the AC!! Can't do without it here in the south! Three weeks, Myra! Can't wait to see you! xo
ReplyDeleteMe, too! xo
DeleteGreat answers, Mevely. We like chicken especially KFC type chicken, (many brands available in the supermarkets). Also chicken Kiev. Do you have it in the USA? Chicken breast stuffed with a garlic and herb sauce.
ReplyDeleteWe used to have chickens years ago; especially for fresh eggs. For a long while they did not produce any. So I followed them one morning to see what was going on. They were escaping through a hole in the fence and selling the eggs to the local supermarket.
God bless.
Your chickens sound most enterprising! Yes, I've heard of Chicken Kiev but have never seen it at the grocers. Sounds delicious!
DeleteHooray for that a/c back in order! Wondering why you end up on the kitchen floor? :) I have such a hard time getting up from the floor, too. Oh my...that internal alarm clock is so regular. Hope the rest of your week is good!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I definitely need to start keeping the dishes we use most often in the higher cabinets.
DeleteI enjoyed your answers this week. I love fried chicken but it's a good thing I don't have it often because I don't know how my self control would be.
