Before I begin, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your many prayers and well-wishes. Physically, the surgeon thinks Tom did well; it's just a lot for him to take in right now.
Moving right along ... let's play 'Name Your Favorite'!
Place: Home sweet home
Color: Buttercream (yellow), forest green, burgundy. And of course, 50 shades of brown.
Smell: Garlic and onions simmering on the stovetop ... Ponderosa pines ... burning mesquite wood ... Jergens original scent hand lotion.
Magazine: Good Housekeeping used to be a favorite, but I've not opened any magazine in years and years.
Texture: My Macie Ann's fur coat -- that looks and feels like an old chenille bedspread.
Thing to do when bored: Read something light ... surf Facebook.
Precious stone: Not a fan of gems -- but will go with that which my father gave me back in '65 - a ruby ring.
Animal: Dogs!
Time in history: Not so very long ago -- but wish I'd been around post-WWII to witness everyone coming together, the overwhelming patriotism which existed. I'm besotted by the fashions of that era ... the music ... even (dare I say?) that men were men, and ladies "enjoyed being a girl."
Font: Comic Sans is fun. Not too artsy-fartsy.
Sound: Ocean waves ... a foghorn ... the whistle of a train at 3AM
Fruit: Nope, not a fan... Coconut, perhaps
Vegetable: Broccoli ... asparagus ... spinach

I love what you chose for sounds. Especially foghorns. My clock radio woke me up one year to a station that started the program with a foghorn. I still remember it. Also distant train whistles and the sound of waves. ❤️

Yes, I love that quote, just never knew it came from that particular story! Can you believe I never saw the movie? Anyway, So glad to hear Tom came through his surgery well. Praying for positive outcomes and complete healing. I love your sense of humor...it always brings a smile to my face! And your sounds are wonderful...I love to hear a train whistle, but maybe not quite so early in the morning...foghorns are interesting too...just never lived closed enough to the water to hear them. Oh yes, Jergen's original kind of a cherry scent! That was all we had back in the day! And I love the time in history you picked, after the war...yes, for the same reasons. I prefer the decade of the 1950's...those were such happy times. Maybe because that's when we were little girls, wide eyed and innocent and life was good. But it seemed like families tried harder to be good families...there was a new fresh hope and prosperity in the land. Life was simple and happy, at least what I can remember. Magazines, I still get BH&G, only because I got a good deal on subscriptions for like $2.00 a year. But the magazines today are too full of ads to be worth reading. I used to love Country Living, but it changed too. I guess the internet kind of changed the glamour and fun of getting a new magazine. Yep, this was good. Thank you for sharing. ReplyDeletemost of these i have no favorite, but most of your favorites I do like. bannana pudding I love, vanilla ice cream is what i would eat if I could eat sugar. and is what i miss the most. my favorite place is Home but other than that is ormond beach the driftwood inn.
ReplyDeleteI never want to live in another time, but if I could visit and come back it woudl be the Old West, in the 1880's.. people talk about how wonderful the 50's were, i lived those and they were not all that wonderful and I would not want to go back to those times.
We've never met in person but I love your sense of humor - it comes through loud and clear on your blog. So happy to know Tom is on this side of surgery. Sitting here at my desk praying for y'all right now!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh banana pudding, mama made the very best... Daddy could not handle bananas but all the rest of the family loved it. Vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet in a bowl together. ;-)
