The Best Thing That Happened This Week
Tom was allowed to come home on Wednesday!
I'll spare you the details -- but they made a 16" incision down his spine. Hence, he has to wear this brace for the next 10 weeks and use a walker/rollator. Only thing missing is a bicycle horn!
We're to continue the 2x/daily infusions, but I'm sure grateful for the PICC line in his arm that doesn't require me to actually 'stick' him. Yikes!
Something That Makes me Happy
I love both my 'lady girls', but Macie Ann's my snuggle buddy.
Most mornings after I take my pill, I'll come back to bed for 30 minutes to read my devotionals and scroll through your posts. Reflecting how much I love this little girl and my humble little home.
Someone That Makes me Smile
Hands down, that honor goes to my friend in Florida. Debbie and I've remained tight since working together back in the 80's; and, despite her numerous (health) challenges, she's the funniest, most upbeat person I've ever met.
Before she underwent cancer surgery Friday, I sent a 'First Aid Kit' -- a half dozen of those little liquor bottles (like you get on a plane) with the advisory: In Case of Emergency Break Glass.
She phoned and we giggled like 7th graders.
A Simple Act of Kindness This Week
Before they discovered Tom could be a bit cantankerous (lol), his nurses were amazing. One even asked if he wanted coffee: "I'm happy to put on a fresh pot."
(And this from an R.N., no less!)

Back on May 31 I vowed to lose 10 lbs. -- but this morning it was 19! (I've always preferred odd numbers, lol)
The Most Recent Blessing I Received
Friends from church called Thursday eve to see if they might stop by -- and arrived with a feast: Pork loin, yellow rice and peach cobbler. Delicious!
Well, it's about time for another cuppa! In the words of another blogger, 'Go look for your joys -- you will find them, no matter how small.'

YES! No matter how many woes life might bring our way, there is so much to be thankful for. You are blessed with a great many friends, and the hospital staff taking such good care of Tom. I always try to give thanks for everything in my life, especially the small blessings that come our way, sometimes they are truly the big things in our lives.

DeleteI always enjoy hearing and seeing a little into your life. We KNOW without a doubt Tom's situation is tough on you BOTH! Love you guys and really smiled when we read the gift of Pork loin, yellow rice and peach cobbler. It doesn't come more thoughtful than that.

DeleteOH my! Tom has quite the apparatus there, but so thankful he is home and I know you are most grateful to have him there safe and sound and ready for Thanksgiving! I am SO glad you used these prompts for your post today! And I love all the things you shared...flowers, your sweet doggy, friends from church with wonderful food, many blessings. God is good. DeleteDue to Tom's surgery, your holiday festivities will probably be minimal this year. Hopefully you'll have some relaxing, quality time at home - with good food and blessings.

Frankly, I think 'minimal' is best. We're letting Publix do the heavy lifting this year.
Delete1st let me say, Tom looks so sad, and if I had to wear that contraption even without a 16 inche slice, it would make me cry and whine.. does he have to sleep in it? hope not... 10 weeks is a long time. glad the pic line is there.
ReplyDeleteLike your little sleeping Lady Princes, my Prince gives me joy and laughter, even now passed out on his blanket on the sofa. I keep looking up to just feel the joy.
I had joy today, after Beaus short walk, when I started out a neighbor that walks was leaving and I walked with him and talked and got to pet a pit mix named Red and talk to his people and felt joy for 2 miles that we walked. love your flowers and prayers for Debby.. glad you got to talk to her
