So, I'm sitting here with the Theme (from the) Poseiden Adventure) playing 'round and 'round in my head.
Seriously, I'm mighty grateful our power and internet came back on after last night's storms. Many in the community are still without, and one of my friends had a tree fall on her house.
This was the first time we actually took to the safe room (aka, interior bathroom). Macie and Grace were not happy and kept clammoring to be let out, particularly when the weather radio siren kept going off.
Or, was it mommy's helmet?
Note to self:
Next time you go wishing for a reason not to do yard work, be more specific. The Universe hears all, and has no filter!
Anyway! I've got lots to chat about, but will break it down into bite-size pieces over the next few days. For example,

Once more, how fortunate we are to have landed here -- with compassionate health-care.
Tom had his final post-op appointment yesterday. And while they allowed there's been some improvement, the doctor suggests we go back to Birmingham to revisit that (eye) specialist.
... and thankful for budding friendships!
Because her hubby's gone 6 weeks to 'blind school', our Bible study leader invited some of us to brunch Monday.
Good golly, Miss Molly! I'm surprised I didn't waddle. There were sausage/egg casseroles, cheesy grits, home-made biscuits with tomato gravy -- and who was I to be rude and not have some of each?
(Okay, I passed on the jelly donut ... ha!)
Remember what I was talking about, these 'make-over' shows not being everyone's cup of tea?
When we toured the master (think, roughly the size of an average McDonald's) I couldn't help but ask, "Are these windows tinted?
Nope. Not a single window treatment in the place.
Because it sits on 119 largely forested acres with strategically-placed security cameras. Oh, "and I've two guns."

Provided there's one near you, Office Depot is laminating vaccine cards, free for nothing! (I also took (cell phone) pictures of ours 'just because.')

I know ... I promised 'bite-size.' But just one more?
We all talk about spam and how to spot it ... but this one had me totally fooled.
Now I can't UN-see it.

i had a hardtime finding the different style A but did find it. I never ever never click on a link in my email. if my bank or other things like that send me and email, I go to the site i have saved and take it from there. I get these from 5 different banks, i have 2 banks, the other 3 never have. seems they have picked up in the bombardment. never click on anything that says you won an Iphone, i get those a lot.

Glad your survived your time in The Helment, and that is one of the sweetest and best ever cards from a doctor office.
I know, right? (You and I are so alike, both suspicious by nature!) When I saw that envelope from the hospital I was half-way expecting a bill, not a thank-you note, one month after the fact!

My mom was one that rarely had window coverings. I wouldn't be able to stand it. Every window has to be fully covered at night. Thanks for the spam tip. I didn't spot it until you pointed it out!
ReplyDeleteYa, when the voice in the (weather) radio said, "Seek shelter immediately" I didn't argue. Our Pastor wrote (that) Amanda and family now have to find temporary housing, on account that tree made itself part of their living room. Yikes!

DeleteWow! that sounds like it was a very close call! Glad to know all is well, but I am sorry for the ones with the tree through the roof. That happened to my mother in law one time. She was in bed and never heard a think til the neighbors came pounding on her door. Thankfully it didn't go where she was sleeping...was mostly on the carport, but still a BIG mess for a 85+ woman. (This was a long time ago...she in heaven now, but from old age, 95, not a tree, thank the Lord). That house looks amazing, and the brunch sounds divine. I don't know how people do that without help. Sure sounds wonderful. Enjoyed this tonight. So glad you are ok. Praise God.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Terri! LOL on the helmet. When I first bought them Tom thought I was crazy -- until he heard the weatherman say everyone should have one; that most tornado-related deaths are a result of head injuries.

Those storms you experienced visited our neighborhood, too, but thankfully, for many of us, without the same severity. I'm thankful always for God's protection! And enjoy brunch whenever you can get it. Breakfast for supper is my recipe for success!

I didn't catch the difference in the notifications until you pointed out the A and then it became very obvious. Amazing how they go through so much trouble trying to look normal to scam people.

DeleteI complain about our roller coaster weather due to the up and down of temperatures, but at least we've had no bad storms like you there. Thankful you came through it all unscathed. You've been very lucky. I think I would prefer window coverings no matter how remote or how much privacy. I'd feel like someone was looking in the windows. I keep my curtains closed at night all the time. I don't want anyone to see in. Glad Tom has good health care and people that care too. It makes a big difference! We'll all be glad when this weather straightens out.

ReplyDeleteGlad you were safe from the storm. We have no window treatment on the sliding glass door in our bedroom because we are a view lot. No one can see us and we can enjoy the view from our bed. I took a picture of my vaccine card too. In order to get it in my wallet I have to fold it in half so being laminated wouldn't help. That's interesting on the "a".....

DeleteGlad all is well. We finally have a generator so it would keep the house up and running in case of a total power failure. Life is getting strange everyday. I spend most days in prayer. Grateful Hannah and Jake made it home safely again and Franklin too. Oh I feel so sad for the pups when there is a storm brewing, they don't understand, poor sweet babies. I hope you get some good news regarding your hip. Blasted fragile people like us. The one thing I wish my mom had not given to me, her bad hips. I am not a hge fan of uncovered windows but so many people like them. I love my privacy too much. Hoping you have a great week and love that note from your medical facility. :-)
