G'evening friends!
First, thanks to those of you who played 'Water Cooler Wednesday.' That was fun, getting to know y'all a little better! WCW will be back in a few days, but I wanted to share an update re. our planned pilgrimage.
... Color me banging head against wall. Why on earth did I think this process would be fun?
Yes, we closed on the Coosada house a few weeks ago. But! If it hadn't meant losing our down payment, I was seriously ready to walk away. 'Not sure what 'pre-approved' means in this day and age, but at the last minute the underwriter decided she needed to see a 1099 from 2015. (... and guess who discovered that was the only document from our tax file she - Ms. Uber-Organized - couldn't find?) Then 24 hours prior to the scheduled close, we learned our local banks are only permitted to notarize sale documents ... they're not allowed to witness a signature. What's that all about? (8PM we're knocking on the neighbor's door asking them for their signatures. *sigh*) I'm guessing the housing debacle of '08 has something to do with them being so picky?
God bless that blizzard that swept through Georgia and Alabama for postponing the close!

And God bless my son for driving up to check on Chapman Drive each Friday! How well he knows my propensity for imagining the worst that could (and can) happen!

So this place went on the market Wednesday. So far, there've been 4 walk-throughs, but no nibbles. 'Miz Instant Gratification' here is close to stroking out.
To be honest, I'm not especially happy about the photos ... or the listing price. My gut thinks the price is too high, but our agent ran comps and says we can always lower it.
I'm just so ready to be done, you know?

Meanwhile, back at the workplace.
Some of you may recall, I was more than a little concerned about being furloughed. Nevertheless I put a little extra 'oomph' into my self-evaluation ... but wasn't expecting much.
Go figure! For the first time in 15 years they rated me 'exceptional' ... my boss even went to corporate to get an exception to my salary cap. SMDH ..... I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
On the bright side, the forecast claims we're supposed to enjoy cooler temps this week, so I've another chance to wear my sweaters. Simple pleasures!  |

Closings are no fun. Praying for the right buyer to come along and purchase that home of yours and feel the love there! We hope it rains and temps drop. Has AZ ever had such a dry winter? It doesn't surprise me that you are an exceptional employee!

DeleteGlad you got through the closing with minimal headaches. Laughed at the sign you put at the end of your post about freezing and 60 degrees. We've been in the single digits most of the winter here.

DeleteI sold real estate in the 90's and I know any and all that can happen, now that it is closed i can say that. hope you get a quick sale, we took the first offer on our house in st pete, just to get it over with, could have waited and gotten 5 to 10,000 more but worth it to go... yay for cool weather. we are dying here, woke up today to 71 at 5 am, with 100 percent humidty, feels like 81 and going to mid 80's today and breaking heat records for Feb. what is up with this weather

DeleteWhen I sold my house last year, the pre approved loan of the buyer fell through and we had to start all over again. and that was one day before the closing was to have been! Thankfully it didn't take long to find a new buyer and that deal went through. Believe me I was holding my breath as by that time I'd already moved into the new place. So I know how things can go. Hopefully things will go well for you and your place will soon be a thing of the past and your new place will welcome you with open arms.

DeleteREAl Estate is an amazing animal. It gives some of the BEST feelings in the world and scares the crap out of you WHEN U KNOW the million things that can go WRONG, BUT THANK GOD they USUALLY DO NOT HAPPEN. As a rule things click rit along.
ReplyDeleteYEAH about the 'crazy' differences in states. You may remember Florida does not require a notary on a car title when selling or buying. It becomes fun moving a car from Florida to a State where it is required. I remember one notary at NC bank searching for a place to notarize a Florida title. "THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE you can't transfer a title without a notary!"
'YOu can a Florida title' I informed him.
SO yes strange about the notary and signatures. WILD, BUT your house there in AZ will sell, EVERY HOUSE SELLS, I had to remind my son on every house we built, I think! Yeah Calm down breath deeply and enjoy the ride! (Love the last graphic!!!!)

DeleteYipes, sorry about all the hassles involved with the closing. That sounds pretty stressful, but at least it's behind you now. Let's hope the sale and closing on your AZ house will go more smoothly... and fast!

ReplyDeleteI can only wish you luck and God Speed with the move. Unfortunately, the entire process is always nightmarish (I'm a regular Pollyanna, aren't I?).
My parents went through more moving nightmares than I'd ever care to remember. And the last move that I made was so hellishly devastating that - three years later - I still haven't recovered.
And I have been through the same notary and signature crap that you mentioned. They make everything as painful as possible.
On the bright side, I'm glad that you're able to wear a sweater in AZ. Keep it handy. You'll need it when you move.

DeleteTalk about stress!! Next week marks our one-year anniversary in our new home, so all of that buying-selling-closing-packing-moving stuff is still pretty new here and I sure remember how it felt! Congrats on the great evaluation!! Snuggle into those sweaters!
