Do you prefer hardcover, paperback or Kindle? Why?
The weight and the smell of a hardcover is enormously comforting -- but I can't discount the ease and portability of my e-reader. Because my eyesight's rapidly going south, I love being able to adjust the size of the print.
If you were to own a book shop, what you call it?
I would LOVE to own such a shop ... but never thought about naming it.

E reader only for the same reasons that you like yours. I used to read large print books but with Osteo in my wrist it hurt my wrist so I've only read for the past five years and the e-reader and I love it so I don't need a bookstore and don't need to name one if I don't have one. Agree that the movies always ruin the whole story especially if I read the book before the movie.
ReplyDeleteMyra, I really enjoyed your answers today! You gave a lot more thought to them than I did on mine...I sort of copped out on a couple of them. So far, everyone I've read who did Sunday Stealing today chose The Bible to take with them to a deserted island. I did not read 50 Shades either but love that you came up with than answer. Perfect! As much as I read, I have never started the alphabet series by Sue Grafton and I know I would love them. Need to get started, I think! I want to visit your grandmom's farmhouse bedroom. I can close my eyes and almost see it, I think! Wishing you a good week ahead, my friend!

ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you on scratch and sniff. Unfortuantely then I would want to taste too! Love your quote. Taking the Bible with you is a good choice! It has everything we need. (I would love to go to a deserted island) I love my ereader for the same reason. If only we didn't have these aging eyes!!

I love the potential names of your bookstore :) I'm with you, I like reading books these days on the tablet; can adjust the font size accordingly :) I have let to see a book turned into a good representative of it in a movie. Hard to cram a 400 page book into a 2 hour movie. Definitely agree, the Bible on a deserted island. At least you wouldn't have to worry too much about "loving your neighbor like yourself" because there wouldn't be any around :)

I agree with the book-to-movie comments. The only one that was as good in my opinion was Forrest Gump. I thought that movie did the book justice.

I love to read on my Kindle. I used to have stacks and stacks of books all around the house and now I have a kindle with lots of books stored in it. Movies made from books always disappoint me. I'd rather read a book any day. Owning a book store would be a great way to do what I love. A name evades me but wouldn't be a wonderful way to make a living. Hope you have a great week. ReplyDeleteOH I love the feel and smell of a real book in my hand. But my house and home and garage and shed are filled with books! We are readers in this house and finally NIck has been lured into this reading marathon with all of us! I love the name you chose for a book store. There is a Tattered Cover Book Store in Denver, I L O V E that place. So much more than the chain stores. Sigh! I hate when movies are made from books, especially my favorites. Debbie Macomber, a favorite writer of mine wrote the Cedar Cove Series, when Hallmark turned it into a TV series, B L A H, B A R F, U G H! I couldn't even get a comment from the author when I told her it was the worst idea ever! "The best love is the kind that awakens the soul;that makes us reach for more;that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our souls." from The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks.Favorite author, deceased, Maeve Binchy. SHe would be such an interesting person to have chatted with. I have a HUGE Golden Book collection and recently added "The Lone Ranger" to Harrison's collection. Unfortunately, it is totally PC! U G H ! UNless you can afford the original version. sigh! I do have a GB original copy of the 1942 book Farmer Brown's ANimals, copyright 1 9 4 2 ! HUGS
