Thanks for joining me for another silly scenario!
When I was a little girl I believed my mother was the smartest lady in the world. That was, until she couldn't answer my question: "When Prince Charles and Princess Anne turn in their school work, what do they put for their last name?"
See, I've always had an absurd interest in names. The royal family is no exception.
Princess Diana supposedly wanted to name her first-born "Oliver" -- but that was shot down for a more 'suitable' name befitting the House of Windsor.
(...a bit stuffy, are we?)
Even today. I recall much speculation regarding the naming of William and Kate's adorable offspring.
Now that "George Alexander Louis" and "Charlotte Elizabeth Diana" are expecting a new brother or sister next year .....

I had to google Prince Williams last name, he has NONE. I never thought of that before. wow, you have stirred up my hornets nest of a mind now. I am glad they did not pick Oliver. I found this when I asked google for Williams last name. he is listed as Prince William and William Arthur Phillip Louis, no last name.
ReplyDeleteI think they should name the new one Harper Or Madison... those are two of the most popular names right now, either boy or girl. my cousin has Harper for her girl and Barrett for her boy, first names.
I love the name Harper! Elegant, but not pretentious.

I like traditional names myself. You should see some of the names I run iinto at work. I think parents need to consider teasing and other aspects when naming their children. I will go for Henry for a boy and Louise for a girl.

I think the Windsors should change their surname back to Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and be German again, as they were originally. And the next prince should be named Rufus. And the next princess should be Bullet. Or Bertha.

ReplyDeleteSeriously, I'm more of a traditionalist. Our kids chose rather unusual names for their children, but I like the old tried and true. The old-fashioned, even. How about Victoria and Edward?
As to that side-bar question, I'm afraid the childhood me would be disappointed. I was such an idealist who wanted to change the world for the better. My secret goal was to be a nurse on the good ship Hope.
LOL! I think it's a safe bet Victoria or Edward will be in there at the finals.

DeleteI never had children and my two boys were 16 and 20 when we came into each other's lives - already named. Had I ever had a girl, I wanted to name her Miranda. I still love that name.

My mom's advice to me when I was naming my kids (while still pregnant) was to go to the backdoor and yell for them to come home. If it sounds stupid don't give them than name. Worked for me!!
ReplyDeleteIs their last name Windsor? Or House of Windsor? Or does royalty only have to use their titles like Princess Pea? How would that go on a credit card or bank statement or...a childhood paper? It must be weird being royal.
