As ever, big thanks to Joyce, Godmother of Wednesday's Hodgepodge!
Shall we?
What's something you may do this month?
Fingers crossed, we'll green-light a new bath remodel.
Neither of us is getting any younger, and in Tom's case, it's near impossible for him to get into the existing bath.
Forget about a round-the-world cruise, I'd rather not risk life or limb simply trying to get clean.
Hola! Hodgepodge Day lands just after Cinco de Mayo ... how do you feel about Mexican food? What's your favorite dish? Do you make it at home or is it a strictly dine out option?
Okay. I adore Mexican food - found in Texas or New Mexico, that is.
While I adore an ooey-gooey (spicy) plate of nachos, my usual go-to is a taco salad ... that someone else has prepared.
When children of today grow up, what do you think they'll say about this time period? What do you most hope they remember?
For us grandparents (and greats), I think this is their Normal. Having no perspective, a lucky few might say they're living their best life.
I do think today's youth are stronger, more easily able to adapt than I was.
What I hope they'll remember? I hope, deep down in their bones, they know how much they were loved.
What advice would you give a new mother?
I can't say it any better than this!
I don't know if this is happening to anyone else -- or, if someone has a quick-fix.
All of a sudden, many of my friends' posts have disappeared from Reader. What I mean, they're still out there but I have to do a search.
For now, I'm going to do my best to keep up. Hopefully Blogger will right itself.
But. If you wonder why I've quit commenting on your blog for more than a day, it's not intentional. Please send me a "Yoo-hoo ... I'm still over here!"

Enjoyed your post. Loved the song don't blink...how true.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my favorites!
DeleteI'm here, Myra! I've heard from other bloggers that they have had issues, too. I hope that Blogger will get itself straightened out soon. Loved the first photo with you and your mom, and what an amazing song you shared here. When I see a young mom with her baby, I find myself telling her to treasure every moment because they grow up way too quickly. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteThank you! That (photo) was a really happy day; it still makes me smile.
DeleteI don't think I've missed any posts, but then who knows. Yes I do a daily post, glad you found it. Blogger is not what it used to be, I'm just thankful it still exists. Yes, Texas does have a lot of good Mexican food. I've enjoyed lots of good Mexican dinners out. The step in showers they have now are really nice, Glad you can get a bath remodel. Got to safe and clean for sure! Love, ma
ReplyDeleteFor sure! A few years ago, one of Tom's cousins fell in a hotel tub/shower, hit his head and never regained consciousness. We never know!
DeleteI don't bath any more - just vacuum clean myself !!!
ReplyDeleteOK ... I thought it would make you laugh; I know it did me when I first thought it.
I now keep a list of Bloggers and their URL separate so I visit them regularly - I just check even if they don't post daily. I also click on their names if they comment on my posts and visit them that way.
Keep smiling and God bless.
Yes, I giggled!
DeleteYours is a great idea; I'm going to do that, too.
wonderful idea of getting a new re-bath. I think we need one as well. I would love to gut the entire bathroom and start all over again. I am with you on the Mexican food...Texas or New Mexico. Sam's grandmother lived in El Paso and oh my....the Mexican food there was wonderful. Keeping you in my prayers each day... big ol' Texas hugs..
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at the differences in Mexican cuisine, depending which part of our Country you're in. Should be standardized, but then my Alabama friends might complain, haha.
DeleteI'm still here. I feel like Blogger periodically misbehaves and eventually finds it's way back. A new bath sounds like a fun remodel project. At some point safety has to become the priority. Good luck with making that happen.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Good luck would be welcome!
DeleteI love the photo of you and your Mom and your sweet doggie. Such a happy picture. And the one you shared on FB today is so really sweet. It should be framed and hanging on the wall. Oh, a new bath room? I love that idea! Although we have a shower that is fairly easy to get in and out of, it's a tight squeeze and could use some safety bars. Also our doors to our bathrooms are all very narrow (think manufactured home), and need to be widened to allow a person with a walker or wheelchair in, which thankfully we don't have/need yet, but we know the day is coming when most likely we will need that door widened. We also have a garden tub that is taking up precious real estate and not being used for safety reasons as well as it costs too much in water to fill it! I'd really love to change it into a much larger walk in shower that is handicapped accessible. But alas, too much $$. I wish medicare would pay for something like that! Just think how much money they could save on hospital costs from tragic falls in bathtubs, etc. I haven't noticed any issues with bloggers, etc., but then again, I am behind in reading and have a hard time keeping up with some who write almost every day. I do the best I can, and I understand when others can't always read all of my posts when I get in a writing mood! LOL. I think the posts just scroll down too quickly because of the sheer volume of writers. I may need to delete some from my list who I seldom really read and they rarely if ever comment on mine. It seems like we end up with those we feel we have the most in common with and we tend to stay in closer touch with them than those who really don't ever show much interest in our blogs either. I try my best, but sometimes I just can't keep up no matter how hard I try. Mexican food? I do make taco meat and use it for a variety of dishes, mostly taco salad for me and a burrito for hubby, but I know my stuff isn't like the real authentic Mexican recipe. If I could ever find a place that serves it here in Florida, I might just have to go there!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a blessed and wonderful month of May and Mother's Day.
Aw, thank you so much for your sincere thoughts! Our doorways are super small, too -- but I was able to find a walker on Amazon that adjusts to fit through these place
DeleteOur shower stall is starting to look really shabby. However, I would be happy with a simple update. Hubby wants to reconfigure the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteI'm on pins and needles -- waiting on the contractor's numbers before making a decision.
DeleteYes, definitely get that bathroom taken care of. I'm glad we have a shower. I can't get out of our get tub anymore. You are right, when we go to Texas the Mexican food is delicious. I agree, I hope they know they were loved!!!! Nice video. That's a good phrase. I haven't heard that one. So sorry about the issues you are having with bloggers.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debby!
DeleteI love your mother's saying!! I hope your bathroom remodel goes well!! I followed several people and always received an email when they posted. Several of those dropped off.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't received any numbers from the contractor, but I'm cautiously optimistic.
DeleteHow exciting for a bathroom remodel coming up. Hopefully it won't take too long. I love Mexican food . Although pizza is a close second.
ReplyDeleteYes I've notice Blogger is acting up again. From what I know, the platform is so old, they barely update it anymore or it takes months. I like it because it's user friendly and free but I also don't like it because of all the glitches. Frustrating.
Uh-oh. I'm reminded of that quote, "New beginnings are apt to be shadowy."
DeleteI totally agree with you about the bathroom. You need that every single day.
ReplyDeleteI like Mexican food - but boy does it do a number on my stomach.
I haven't noticed blogger messing up - yet.
But I post only once a week on Tuesdays.
You re also totally right on that song DON'T BLINK!! It goes way to fast.
Thanks, Sandie!
DeletePlease keep us informed about the bathroom remodel. It should be good for a lot of posts!
ReplyDeleteI will!

ReplyDeleteI hope the new bath remodel goes well.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true about today's youth being stronger, they have had so much to deal with over the last 10 years.
They're certainly stronger than I was.
DeleteI think the elves that run Blogger are up to some hijinks right now.
ReplyDeleteWe aren going to redo our bathroom also (been planning to for about 4 years but it has not happened yet) Our needs have gone from purely aesthetic to safety. Age thing for sure!
Exactly. I'm not prepared for a first responder to find me nekked!
DeleteI don't use Reader so had not noticed, and of course would not because I am not reading. I use Feedly. You are in my feedly but not in Reader, but when I click Manage at the top of Reader you are there. If you find one not their you can add it. Blogger is probably changing something behind the scenes and I will not know about it.
ReplyDeletelove you and your mom pic. color me jealous on bathroom, we need that also. we have a smaller walker we put inside one bath and he use his walker to get to the door and transfer to the one that lives in the bathroom
I've had blogger issues too, you're the second post I've visited today talking about it. A bathroom remodel, how exciting is that!! Thankfully we have a walk-in shower, just wish it was a little bigger, but I' don't see a remodel in our future. That is such a sweet picture of you and your Mother. Happy Mother's Day.
