Hey there! It's good to see y'all!
'Just a few notes from the road ...
Monday morning our ladies group hosted a surprise brunch/shower for one of our own ... who's been absent nearly a year.
Ya, more than a few tears were shed.
Hope you'll excuse me bragging (again) on the Instant Pot?
See, I'd signed up to bring Conecuh sausages -- but the night before grew anxious, realizing I'd never tried doing that. Except on the stove-top. And who likes cleaning up all that yukky grease-splatter. Right?
Whaddya know? They came out great. Tom even said he doesn't want me ever doing them any other way.
🐣 🐣 🐣
So, I saw where someone makes Instant Pot Dyed Easter Eggs.
Gotta confess: 71 y/o and I still like to play with my food.
Except. I only found one pint-size mason jar.
(I suspect more savy crafters already caught on, because there were no mason jars to be found.)
What to do but swallow my "never-ever agains" and revisit WalMart.
Oh my gosh, y'all! Not only has our 'super' mart gone self-serve check-out ... but now they've rearranged 90% of the store!
Were it not for Tom looking for a certain BBQ cover ...
All's I gotta say, sometimes it's a good thing no-one can read my lips behind my mask.
I didn't find the jars -- which turned out to be a good thing -- but did find some beautiful tulips.
Well, ONE mason jar's better than nothing, right?
Where there's a will ....
🐣 🐣 🐣
I don't suppose this Easter Sunday will be much different than recent years. Only after receiving our second vaccines will I entertain the idea of in-person church services.
Meanwhile, here's a recent pix of my nearest and dearest.

I haven't colored eggs in years. Years and years. I will do deviled eggs for Easter dinner though. Got the ham today. Great photos!! xo
ReplyDeleteI LOVE deviled eggs, but never tried making them. I could probably make a meal of the whole dozen!
DeleteI can not find regular dye to color the eggs. The KIng Soopers and Walmart marketplace had all these new dyes, for shiny eggs, unicorn eggs, you name it they had it. I just want some simple colors. I am sure liking how you love that instapot. Jeremy & Brittany have a Ninja one and it does a ton of different things plus it folds up against the counter when you are done with it. So cool. LOve seeing the egg cups. I Love them so much. I have a collection of different ones. Rebekah decorated the liding room so sweet with our bunny houses. Love all the photos and seeing your favorite's too. Glad you had such a fun time with your chiurch people. It is always nice to see those we have missed. Thanks for sharing. HUGS
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne! Won't you share a picture of your decorated living room?
DeleteI love the bowl of eggs at the beginning, so pretty and festive and simple. I always used the food coloring, with vinegar. several cups of hot water with a drop of color and spoon on vinegar, let sit until I liked the color. I don't own food color and have not colored eggs in about 40 years.
ReplyDeletei want an air fryer, my friend loves here like you like your instant pot. i hate the cooktop mess. but then don't you have to clean the pot?
you know I am a 100 percent Walmart shopper, which means I buy 100 percent from WM and Amazon. Yesterday I came home from my favorite store yapping at Bob about the rearranging of it. it is like they went MAD.. the way they have done it makes no sense at all.... I am considering placing a complaint to the main web stite about it. if we don't complain they will not change it.
for instantance. I wanted to look at a Pioneer Colander and a plate. I walked to where they display WAS and they took ervey single piec of Pioneer Woman and put it with other things.
Bowls with bowls
Mugs with Mugs
Scattered on 5 aisles. they did similar things I noticed. the only thing in the store not shifted was the food, i am sure next week they will move Bob's chocolate syrup frome the POPCORN aisle, whic is where they hid it 2 months ago...
Nope, the only clean-up is a few squirts of Dawn in the (removable) aluminum cooker/shell thingie. Hope you'll get that Air Fryer; Tom loves his and I love not having to turn on the oven and heat up the whole house.
DeleteIt is so annoying when supermarkets change the layout of the shop and everything is in a different place.
ReplyDeleteDid you know if you wrap onion skin around an egg, and hold it tight with string or elastic bands, then boil the egg. You get a nice brown pattern on the egg. It was fun when we were young to colour boiled eggs for Easter.
Have a great time with family. Happy Easter to y'all.
God bless.
No, I didn't know that about onion skin! Back to the laboratory. 🙃
DeletePS - I love when you say, "y'all." Will that be coming to a video someday?
I really can't do an American accent and don't want to upset my friendly loyal readers. But I can do zee French accent, n'est ce pas? Eet eez veree different zan zee America accent.
DeleteGod bless you, Mevely. Thanx for your loyal support.
How sweet to have a brunch for that member of your group who has been gone so long, Myra. Glad your sausages turned out good, too!
ReplyDeleteI can't recall when I last dyed eggs, or if I ever did. It's chocolate all the way at Easter! May your Holy Week and Easter be a blessed one, my friend!
Thank you, Martha! Ya, we had fun planning and staging Shannon's brunch. I love those gals.
DeleteI hope to dye a few eggs this weekend. I hate when they rearrange Walmart! I've only been in a Walmart a few times since last March and they rearranged during that time! We are down in your neck of the wood today keeping our grandbaby (long story).
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope you'll share photos of your egg-dying? Wishing y'all safe travels and good times!
DeleteI hate when they rearrange stores! It's always when we've finally memorized where everything is. The shower looks like it was very nice and I'm glad your Conecuh sausages turned out well. Love the beautiful flowers you got for yourself too. I haven't colored eggs since my kids were young, have fun! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha! Were it not for Tom, I'd have probably walked out and drove to Target.
DeleteI can tell you my employer will be going Self Checkout 100% by late summer. Just saying...and if you think lines are long now and no folks working now, just wait...sorry to sound so nasty, not my intention. We have big issues with all the above mentioned...lack of great management is the biggest problem. No one knows why they are doing what they are doing...including moving things around. ANYWAYS...I got the same flowers for my birthday, and they have opened up and smell pretty good.
ReplyDelete*Sigh*
DeleteI always think of you whenever I'm tempted to say something sounding like a Karen. 💜
Love your beautiful tulips and congrats on coloring eggs even if they didn't turn out, they are beautiful too. My hard boiled eggs went into my potato salad for the day. It's so nice to be back in church worry frse, but they still require masks and keep everyone at a safe distance. We had to make reservations to sit in a pew, others will watch in a different room streaming the service. These still are different times but hopefully soon we'll be back to normal.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea, your church asking folks to make reservations. Now you're making my mouth water for some good potato salad!
DeleteLove the comments above. BUT last first, beautiful family picture. Love it. Some memories last forever and one of those is dying eggs, first sister and me then for our boys. Plastic eggs came after our boys were not at home.
ReplyDeleteAND how sweet to treat a long absent member, good on y'all. Glad the sausage turned out GREAT.
AND AMEN to the (not so) GREAT rearrangements of any store, ESPECIALLY a grocery store. YUCK,
Love from a pretty day in Florida!
Aw, thanks! I love it, too; and want to see if I can't find an app to get rid of that background.
DeleteWe're expecting more severe weather this afternoon/evening, but will keep hunkered down and look forward to MUCH colder weather.
Wow, I'm sorry to know the Easter egg dying idea in the instapot didn't work out so well. I don't have one of those things, but it sounded like a fun idea...however, I guess you'd have to do just one at a time, huh? Not too practical. We haven't dyed eggs in a while, just use plastic and fill them with jelly beans. But I do boil eggs and make deviled eggs and potato salad. So I need to remember to get more eggs before the weekend. That welcome party for your friend looked very sweet. That was really nice...I love it when friends do special things for each other like that. I haven't been to WM yet this week to see if ours has been changed, but we are now doing the self checkout most of the time. I am not crazy about it and hate to see more people losing jobs because of it. Signs of the times, and that isn't good... Have a blessed and wonderful Easter regardless of how you spend it. We are excited to be having our service back in our Sanctuary after being in the Fellowship Hall all these last few months. I am concerned it will be more crowded than we expect, but we will have masks still. I will be singing in the choir for our Cantata: Our God Reigns. Praise God!
ReplyDeleteGosh, between you, 'Ma' and Terri, my mouth's watering! Last night I told Tom we'd better buy more eggs because he makes the BEST egg salad in the history of ever. (Flattery gets me everywhere, lol).
DeleteI look forward to watching your Cantata, Pam. Happy Easter!
I had a somewhat similar experience at one of the local groceries that has gone mostly self checkout. I guess it's been a while since I've been there and I got quite a surprise yesterday. I'm used to self checkout, but this seemed to have a different and more cumbersome software. Luckily everything I wanted was on sale, which made up for my clumsiness at checkout. Take care!
ReplyDeleteIt's an inescapable part of life, but some days I really loathe change. Thank you for visiting!
DeleteEvery time I scroll down the seemingly endless list of comments on your blog, I envy you for having so many loving and faithful readers.
ReplyDeleteLately, my readers have dwindled to a few who tolerate me - - and some who'd like to kill me....
But I digress...
The Easter eggs on your first photo are lovely. I haven't dyed eggs in a long time and I admittedly miss the ritual. Sometimes I make deviled eggs, but it's easier just to pickle them (in vinegar and water).
I sure hope our local Walmart isn't planning to rearrange things. And if they switch to Self Serve only, I'll quite shopping!
My cat Kitzee would love those Easter tulips (lol)...
"Quit shopping", not "quite shopping"
DeleteYou are so kind, my friend. At least Lone Wolf's not milque-toast material! (*grin*) Please don't ever sell yourself short! Hey, I well remember the days of ZERO comments ... and ya, there were many.
DeleteI haven't colored eggs in years, but your post brings back wonderful memories. ❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Deletelove the eggs, tulips. food sounds yummy. your family is lovely. enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Terre ... you, too! (Stay warm!)
Deleteps) your egg cup delights me. So charming.
ReplyDeleteThat's my favorite memento from childhood.
DeleteYou have been busy. Sounds like a nice party. Glad your dish turned out well. The tulips are pretty. I haven't been shopping since the lock down but I did stop today and things were moved around. Frustrating when you're in hurry. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debby. Happy Easter to you and Mark!
